Daily 2 Cents: The Alien 'Big Plan' -- Selling Ghost on eBay -- The Legend of Bat Boy

The Alien 'Big Plan'

Coates, MN - 1996-07-01 - 2:01AM: My friend and I were on our way home to Rochester, MN. It was about 2:00 am and we were driving past the town of Coates. I heard a low humming sound which got louder. I could feel a vibration all over my body. I looked out of the passenger window and saw a bright light at tree top level about 200 feet away. I told my friend to stop the car and he started to get hysterical. I got a tire iron from under my seat and I was going to check it out. I got to the ditch and that is the last memory I had.

After undergoing hypnosis I was able to recall being hit by a blue beam which carried me to the craft, where a ramp opened, and I was brought inside. A door opened and a tall grey with a normal sized grey entered. The tall grey had on a black jumpsuit. Then a human entered, also wearing a black jumpsuit. He was smiling and said there was no reason to be afraid. "This is going to be a pure learning experience" and he brought me into the cockpit area and told me to look outside the windows. The windows were one way where I could see out, but the craft did not look like it had windows. He showed me the control panel and how to operate it. He took me into another room where there were an assortment of monitors on the wall. He said to follow along with the images and they will teach you what you need to learn. I watched the images for about 2 hours and somehow I was able to understand what I was watching. When he returned he told me it was vital that I understand these things because there may come a time when they won't be here to teach me. I would have to continue the 'Big Plan' in their place. He said he didn't know when that time would be as there are many factors involved that could change the outcome. Then the 2 greys came back in the room and the ramp opened up. The smaller grey escorted me out of the craft and to my car. He put a small device on the side of my head and I became paralyzed and my vision went black. The next thing I remember was me and my friend pulling into a restaurant. We were both in a daze and couldn't figure out how the time got to be 5:30 am. So we had a large chunk of missing time. Since that time my friend has received flashbacks but doesn't want to be involved in anyway. - MUFON CMS

Ghostly face appears in museum photograph

Amateur ghost hunters have captured an image of what looks like a shadowy woman's face in Torquay Museum.

The group had been investigating the building, which dates back 140 years, as part of a special "Night at the Museum" event which had been organized to look for evidence of paranormal activity.

When they got together later to review the pictures they'd taken they were surprised to discover a ghostly face peering out from the level of the floorboards in one of the photographs.

"It appears to be a woman, and from the angle of the photograph it looks like she is submerged into the floor, almost like she is below floor level," said staff member Carl Smith.

"It's a pretty clear photograph, and there was no one else present when the photo was taken. So we are at a loss to explain it. It is a bit of a mystery, and there seems to be no other explanation."

The peculiar image was captured in the museum's Old Farmhouse section which is home to a collection of farm equipment and a chair that dates back over 300 years.

"All of the furniture and equipment has had a lot of human interaction, and maybe this is where the energy has come from," said Smith.

The group are now planning to return for another night to see if they can capture anything else. - Spooky encounter on ghost-hunting trip at Devon museum

The Legend of Bat Boy

An urban legend that originated right here in Southern West Virginia is receiving some new attention. The legend of "Bat Boy" debuted in 1991, in the American supermarket tabloid, Weekly World News.

"Bat Boy", described as a large-eyed, fanged human child is believed to have fallen in Lost World Caverns in Lewisburg, back in the 1950's and then escaped 30 years later in 1992.

Now a team of experts is hunting for him once again at Lost World Caverns. We talked to the owner of the cave to see what truth is behind the tabloid. The first question 59News asked the owner was how does someone just fall in a cave? Well here's how the owner Steve Silverberg says this cave was stumbled upon in the first place, "The old farmer that owned this farm for years, had a big working cattle ranch here, he had been dumping his garbage and dead cows down that hole, because it was easier than digging a hole to bury them. All he knew was that it took a long time for stuff to hit the bottom and it never filled up."

In 1942, two college students were lowered down the hole and they discovered Lost World Caverns. But it wasn't until the 1970's that a walk way was dug out to get to the cave, which would have left "Bat Boy" stranded to be raised by bats or something else.

Silverberg says, "They thought by bats, but now the theory is that he was raised by some population of subterranean beings that live underneath this area."

"Bat Boy", being half human, half subterranean life, is a creature of many characteristics, "He offered his acute hearing services to the government after the September 11th bombings to go to Afghanistan and help with the search for Osama Bin Laden. Then some of the articles say he gets angry with people and doesn't like them trying to capture them and he bit off a doctors nose in one of the articles."

If you're not one to take interest in urban legends, here's one last ploy, to why "Bat Boy" might have significance, "This subterranean culture that lives underneath us has pretty much left us alone, but their getting pretty tired of what we're doing up above, between the fracking and polluting it's all getting down here underground."

Whether "Bat Boy" really is out there, or not, maybe their is something to be learned from his epic tales.

If you have more questions on the notorious "Bat Boy", Underground Productions has begun the hunt for him once again. They are filming at Lost World Caverns and plan to start airing episodes the beginning of August. Video can be found at The legend of Bat Boy

Selling Ghost on eBay

COLUMBIA, Mo 7/8/15 (Beat Byte) -- It's not often you get the opportunity to buy a ghost, but that's what Trib reporter Jodie Jackson, Jr. is offering on eBay.

Jackson's ghost has a name -- Mariah -- and a surprisingly poignant story.

Mariah lives -- or rather, haunts -- a lacquered photo of her when she was about 3 or 4; and a water-filled, wind-up music globe that plays Beethoven’s Fur Elise (photo). Both items "moved around with us from about 1995 to 2011," Jackson explains on the eBay listing. "That’s when my bride (33 years married and counting) insisted that Mariah not come along to our next place."

Since then, she has haunted "a spot on my desk at the newspaper where I work. But a daily newspaper isn’t the ideal place for her. She needs a family that will enjoy her antics, mostly manifested by random playing of the music globe."

The globe played a few notes just before midnight a while back, prompting a late night co-worker to insist Jackson "get that thing out of here."

When Mariah was home, she would awaken Jackson in the wee hours of the morning with Beethoven. "The first time I heard it play, even knowing that I've never wound the music key, I brushed it off," he writes. "The second time it happened, many months later, I looked on the shelf under the snow globe. Mariah was smiling at me."

Jackson discovered Mariah at a home he was renting in Jefferson City, in a room just off the "darkest corner" of the basement covered by "a stack of doors and broken storm windows."

"The hidden room was full of more junk – some of it wet and moldy – so I dragged the stuff to the backyard and did my best to burn it."

Amidst the junk were toys and a vinyl ball, hardened with age, that kept rolling -- on its own power -- away from Jackson. "I tossed a load on the fire and reached down for the ball. From the corner of my eye, I saw the ball rolling out of the basement again. And did I hear a faint, impish giggle? Nah. I didn’t believe in that kind of stuff."

In a last box filled with "mildewed little kid clothes, baby clothes, rattles and other junk...a face stared up at me from the photograph of a little girl flashing a wonderfully mischievous smile. The photo was sort of pasted onto a wooden plaque and had been laquered to preserve it. I carefully pulled the plaque out of the box and turned it over: 'St. Cloud, Minnesota. 1977.'"

Jackson's next-door neighbors Pat and Selma, "two of the most sweet, likeable people I ever knew... the grandparents that I never had," remembered a little girl who once lived in Jackson's house.

"Pat was a sensitive old soul and his hand shook when he wiped away the tears that came. 'Little girl died," he said with sorrow that seemed fresh and raw." Her death was about 20 years ago -- 1977 or 1978 -- and her family had "moved from somewhere up north."

Jackson later showed them the lacquered photo. "Oh! Well, that's her," Selma exclaimed. And they recalled what they knew about her passing. "The little girl got sick; no one could figure out what was wrong; it all happened very fast, as if one day she was outside playing, laughing, cutting up -- and a few days later she died."

The girl's family vanished, leaving everything behind.

Pat and Selma couldn't remember the girl's name, so Jackson gave her one of his own. "I've always liked the name 'Mariah.' To me, the little girl looked like a Mariah."

Mariah would move with the Jacksons from Jefferson City to Harrisburg to Clark to Columbia, "impish antics, unexplained noises," and of course, Beethoven, following.

"I intended to give Mariah a fresh start – some place other than a busy newspaper office – a few years ago," Jackson writes. "Now is the time." - Touching story adds life to 'haunted' eBay items
