I received this creepy account from a retired Chicago police officer:
"I was a young patrol officer on the south side of Chicago in the early 70s. I used to get called to an address on 100th Street for a disturbance regularly.
I would arrive, knock on the door, and the residents would tell me that something was going on next door, they were hearing a lot of screaming and yelling coming from women. It sounded like they were being murdered.
I'd listen, then point out their address. I'd invariably get "Yeah, that's my address" as a response. I'd then say "Do you know what happened here?"
The residents would give me a wide-eyed stare as they realized what happened on that site. Their next words would be "We're gone."
As it turned on, I was responding to a call from the townhouse dormitory at 2319 E. 100th Street in Chicago's Jeffery Manor neighborhood where rampage killer Richard Speck murdered eight nursing students on July 14, 1966." P
