PHANTOMS & MONSTERS NEWS: SPIELBERG'S New UFO Film Project - Are ANIMALS 'PSYCHIC?' - Rare 'Clockwise' Spinning TORNADO

SPIELBERG'S New UFO Film Project

Legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg is gearing up to make a comeback to the UFO genre with his next project, which is said to focus on UFOs and is based on an original idea by Spielberg himself. Screenwriter David Koepp is attached to write the script.

The project marks Spielberg's return to the UFO-themed film genre since his iconic sci-fi film Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Spielberg first explored the UFO genre with E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, which became the highest-grossing film of all time upon its release.

Even legendary directors like Steven Spielberg have been involved with films they're less than proud of.

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial was released in 1982 and was directed by Steven Spielberg with a script by Melissa Mathison. The film follows the story of Elliott, a young boy who befriends an extraterrestrial creature named E.T. who is stranded on Earth. Together with his friends and family, Elliott must help E.T. find a way to return home. The film features Dee Wallace, Henry Thomas, Peter Coyote, Robert MacNaughton, and Drew Barrymore in starring roles. The concept of E.T. originated from an imaginary friend Spielberg created after his parents' divorce. Read more at Steven Spielberg to Helm New UFO Film Following E.T. and Close Encounters

Are ANIMALS 'PSYCHIC?'

When I was a kid in New York City I remember watching with awe a movie called Lassie Come Home.  About a lost dog and the adventures finding its way back home—I was enthralled by this story, myself not having a cat or dog in our small apartment. At that time, I had no idea about dogs or people with so-called “psychic” abilities. When I grew up, however, I started to hear stories about psychic people and had some odd experiences myself.

Discussing the idea of psychic ability with a fellow graduate student at Columbia University, he told me a story hard to forget. When he was a small boy he and his family moved from a house on Long Island about forty miles to an apartment in Manhattan. The boy had a pet dog he loved but pets were not allowed in the new apartment. So the family had to leave the little terrier behind with a neighbor. The boy, needless to say, was unhappy about losing his canine buddy. Read more at Another Tale of Animal Psi

Rare 'Clockwise' Spinning TORNADO

In the Northern Hemisphere, the vast majority of tornadoes spin counterclockwise. But in rare cases—just 1 to 2 percent of the time—they rotate the “wrong” way, moving clockwise instead.

That’s exactly what happened this week when powerful thunderstorms raged across southwestern Oklahoma. Meteorologists were surprised to see this rare weather phenomenon—called an anticyclonic tornado—on the evening of April 30 in Tillman County, just across the border from Texas.
