'Walking Trees' Recorded in Baltimore County, Maryland Suburb (VIDEO)

On July 28, 2009, Youtuber LisaSurayify uploaded a video, “Real-life Tree Walking”, that shows trees seemingly walking on their own. Filmed in Joppa, Maryland on July 28, 2009 (the same day as the upload), the footage shows a group of trees situated behind a townhouse complex.

It's a clear day. Suddenly, one of the trees seems to start moving on its own, eventually walking away from the rest of the trees. It then returns to its original position whereupon it topples over. More trees follow. LisaSurayify, the uploader wrote: “Wild sh-t here. The trees are walking. Real-life Video!! Joppa Maryland video from 07/28/09.”

Some of the commenters were incredulous, and at least a couple pointed out that there appears to be a man standing at the base of the first tree, just prior to it up and walking away. They then suggest that some type of tree-cutting machinery was being used to move the tree, though at no point is any machinery visible in the footage.

So interesting was the footage that popular Youtuber, Slapped Ham, featured it in his “Weird and Unsettling Videos That Shouldn't Exist” collection, uploaded on December 25, 2021. In his summary, he wrote: “This is an old video from 2009, uploaded to YouTube by LisaSurayify. In July of that year, a resident in Joppa, Maryland, spotted something truly odd happening in their neighborhood. Luckily, they had a camera handy to record the bizarre event. Take a look. As you can see, it looks like several trees are uprooting themselves and walking around. One by one, they moved behind the house in the distance, but somehow they remain upright. This goes on for more than six minutes. A commenter said that they were Ents from "The Lord of the Rings" (upright walking trees). Others suggested it was Bigfoot ripping up trees and carrying them around. Sadly, the camera holder doesn't get closer for a better look, so it's not clear what is actually moving the trees. There are giant logging machines called harvesters that can lop and lift an entire tree, so it's possible there are just some loggers working behind the house that we can't see. I do however much prefer the thought of giant walking trees handing out quests to passing adventurers.”

So what do you think? Were trees walking on their own in Joppa or was there a more down-to-earth explanation?

NOTE: I lived in the area during the time that this incident supposedly occurred. I never heard anything about this phenomenon. These trees look like they may be Black Locust, which has a deep root system. As far as machinery simply uprooting the trees or even a Bigfoot doing the same, just seems illogical. In fact, the entire video seems illogical. Your thoughts? Lon
