“Okay, in 1975, a few friends and myself were sitting around a fire near a canal. Across the canal was a very wooded area and the woods were alive with sound like crickets and cicadas and what have you. All of a sudden everything just stopped. No sound. Nothing and then we heard some type of thrashing coming through the woods towards the canal on the opposite bank. So this thing emerged. It was about 85 to 200 feet away from us and what we saw was this okay (shows a picture of a red eyed creature with wings). This is an artist rendition of this, what I described it as back then, was a Mothman.
It was humanoid shape. It had red eyes and you could see a slight wing in back of it and it stood about, I guess, about six and a half to seven feet tall. Needless to say, it scared the shit out of us and we all ran and we went and got shotguns and came back and, of course, it was gone and the woods had returned to normal. Just the normal sounds and all. This was the only time we saw it. I don't really know what it was. I just know it scared me and when I describe this thing to my parents, because it looked like a Mothman and the reason why I say that... I don't know if it was the skin or the fur or whatever you want to call it. It was like a moth... rigid, like a moth's fur all over it and the thing that really stood out was the red eyes.
So when I found out recently with Richard Gere's movie The Mothman Prophecies, is the first time I actually heard anything similar to it and then I started seeing programs on TV like The Unexplained where they talked about a town up north, oh, by the way, I'm here in Louisiana, but they were talking about a town up north that had seen it also. The way they portrayed it was kind of like you really think these people are nuts but all I can tell you is this is what I saw and you can add that to all the other reports so that's it.”

Summary from video description:In 1975 three friends and myself were sitting around a campfire about 8pm near a canal in southern Louisiana. Across the canal was a heavily wooded area. As we were sitting there you could hear the sounds of crickets and many other critters loudly as we chatted. Suddenly all the sounds stopped and it was dead silent. A loud thrashing sound of something big moving thru the wood towards us could be heard as it made its way to the edge of the woods. We at first thought it must be a deer pushing its way thru to come and drink from the canal. About 85 to 100 feet away this humanoid shape emerged from the woods and made its way to the waters edge. It was covered in funny looking white fur like a moth. It had a wing that could be seen hanging from its back and glowing red eyes. I never saw it spread its wings. It scared the hell out of us and we ran to our homes to grab shot guns to go back and see what it was. I've never seen it before nor have I ever seen it again since that night. When I told my parents they made me feel foolish so I never spoke of it until now. I'm 54 yrs now. They didn't believe me and just told me it was my mind playing trick on me. A few years ago Richard Gere starred in the movie Mothman Prophecies. This was the first time I have heard anything similar to what I had experienced in 1975. I wish my parent were alive to have seen this and the reports from up north of this creature shown on Unexplained files. all I can say is believe what you want but for those that have seen it you know!
I've received a few images and sketches over the past few weeks. I'm looking into each submission. If anyone can offer further information, it would be appreciated. Thanks...Lon
By Sean Forker - I'm always excited when I get the message from Seth Breedlove that he's ready to work on a new project. My first, natural response is "Here -take my money!" You can't go wrong with a Small Town Monsters production. I first backed "Minerva Monster" and realized that not only was my money well spent, but Seth had a passion for telling these stories. Each Breedlove Film gets better and better. "Invasion" is no exception.
I didn't know how the guys would top "Mothman of Point Pleasant"; you can read my review of that film on this blog. "Mothman" had the perfect mix of music, narration, and setting that I felt was a once in a lifetime hit maker. Little did I know that "Invasion" would do the same.
Growing up in Pennsylvania, I was all too familiar with our State's version of "The Twilight Zone". On occasion, my own boots hit the ground and I too would spend countless hours on "The Ridge", waiting to experience it's oddities. How could I expect Seth and team to draw me in more to an area that I already had history with? Well, they did.
With all the flair of an 1980's Sci-Fi movie, Breedlove draws you in with VHS-like effects on the scenery. Brandon Dalo scores yet another win with his mysterious themes that connect you even more so to the story.
Stan Gordon is our principal of the film; which makes great sense being that for 60 years - he has been the man most synonymous with "The Chestnut Ridge". He tells us of The Kecksburg UFO Incident (12/6/1965) - which got him started into his six decades of anomalous research. The film also closes with him at the Kecksburg UFO Conference. Good framing of the story.
Eric Altman joins us to give more meat and potatoes on the area. Eric has spent many years investigating strange phenomena; and for transparency is a man who I consider to be one of my mentors. The other also being Stan Gordon. Friend and fellow researcher Dwayne Pintoff is interviewed and shares one of his strange encounters. These familiar faces really make it seem like I'm watching a home movie!
In my favorite part of the movie, the late Sam Sherry's personal encounter with a Neanderthal Type Sasquatch is retold. Great animated sequences bring this to life. Having one of your favorite sightings come to life added a new dimension to the encounter. Amazing work.
Mark Matzke narrates the documentary, giving depth and emotion to a topic I didn't feel could garner any more. There is a reverence in his voice that invokes the feeling you get when you are actually THERE on the Ridge. Amazing work!
The film relies on great animated sequences and illustrations to fully flesh out the stories. This is very well done. Other movies rely on costume effects, which at times takes you out of the movie due to the strangeness of the costuming. Matt Harris and Brandon Scalf's illustrations draw you in, and Chris Scalf's animation adds to the overall effect of the creepiness to the stories. Their work really brings the mysteries of the Ridge to life!
My only complaint is that I wish there was more! There are so many stories from this area it would be impossible to catalog in a single movie. I hope to see more of this area in a future Small Town Monsters Production.
This is definitely a MUST WATCH and A MUST HAVE for your collection! This is the first documentary I have watched on the Chestnut Ridge, but after viewing the movie - I don't think anyone else could do it the justice that Seth and Team have rendered.
I leave you with this amazing piece of narration:
"There are places in the world whose mysteries call us. To come, see for ourselves - whatever the human toll might be. Places like the Chestnut Ride..."

Mothman Rap Version
Chicago rapper and singer Rich Jones performed "Mothman," his new track about the winged humanoid that's supposedly been plaguing Chicago for much of the summer and fall, in early September at the North Coast Music Festival—or so I heard from an alleged eyewitness, Reader staff writer Leor Galil. His account of the song, like most eyewitness reports of cryptids, provided limited evidence for what he claimed to have experienced—he sent me a photograph of Jones performing in front of a red-eyed illustration that could've been the creature, but there was no audio and no video. The track hadn't been released. In short, I had only Leor's word about its existence.
I've been interested in the Chicago Mothman, which I've been calling the Lake Michigan Bat Creature, since June 30, 2017—that's when it was supposedly sighted in my neighborhood, outside Logan Square bar the Owl. In late July, a friend sent me a recap of sightings published by Riot Fest's magazine, and I was thrilled by how close together many of them were. Most supposed witnesses describe the monster as a giant humanoid bat, but some report seeing a huge owl, a creature with "jagged and insect-like" wings and the "body form of a mantis," or a cryptid resembling West Virginia's famous Mothman from 1966. Similar sightings in Chicagoland date back to 2011, but they've undergone a remarkable uptick this year.
Many of these sightings have been catalogued by Lon Strickler of the website Phantoms and Monsters, who lives in Hanover, Pennsylvania. According to a map he's created, we're now up to 58 sightings—55 of them in 2017. Most have occurred relatively close to the lakefront, though suburbs such as Tinley Park and Bolingbrook have seen one-off outliers. The majority of witnesses agree that the creature has red eyes, that it's seven to eight feet tall, and that they experienced a strong feeling of fear or foreboding when they encountered it. The Reader's own Aimee Levitt covered the flying humanoid in August, and the Tribune and Playboy have published investigations as well. “The story of a humanoid that appeared to be made of paper by their bed is similar to an encounter I had back in 2001. I was asleep on my right side so that my back was facing out towards the edge of the bed. I was asleep when I started to hear these strange electrical-type noises going on inside my head. The best way to describe the noise was as if I was listening to a thousand analog radios all squealing because they were not properly tuned into a radio station, as well as a buzzing sound.
Next thing I know it felt like someone poked me in the back with their finger, which startled the hell out of me so I immediately twisted around to see who was there. There in front of my eyes next to the bed-head and against the wall was this this little man, no taller than 4ft. He looked odd in the sense that his head and facial features, while human looking, were not proportional to a normal human head. He had a small mouth slightly open, with tiny human-like teeth showing quite clearly. His nose was also small but his eyes were like extremely big human looking eyes; and he had a big bald head. As best as I can remember he was wearing a dark one-piece outfit. What was strange was that the room was dark but I could see him as if he was producing his own light. Looking at his face I was terrified, because all he did was remain completely silent and expressionless but just stare right at me with such an intense stare. The fact that I could see his teeth gave me the impression he was possibly aggressive and might attack me, and I could literally feel waves of Adrenalin flow through my body in anticipation of a sudden attack. Even though I was scared however, I was ready to launch myself at him should he make move towards me. But he didn't; he just remained perfectly still and just kept staring right at me. At the same time I was being equally careful not to move an inch just in case he thought I was going to attack him.
Anyway, after what seemed like a minute or so of us just staring at each other in complete silence, I just thought at him to "F" off, and amazingly he just instantly faded out like a light. In retrospect I regret doing that because he did absolutely nothing aggressive towards me. I put my fear at the time down to initially being startled as well as the fact that I was perhaps misinterpreting his teethy, expressionless stare.”
Two Duluth-area conservation officers chased down two suspected poachers Saturday night in what became a haunting tale of paranormal behavior.
Conservation officers Andy Schmidt and Kipp Duncan, who patrol the Duluth area for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, were staking out a cemetery near where there had been recent complaints of people "shining" deer.
Using a flashlight or spotlight to locate deer at night is illegal if you have a gun or bow in your vehicle. Shining lights to look for animals is allowed for the first two hours after sunset nightly, but only if there is no gun or bow in the vehicle.
The officers' stakeout — in a small, dark cemetery in an undisclosed location — was closer to midnight than sunset.
"We were in the truck waiting for something to happen when this car pulled into the cemetery," Schmidt told the News Tribune on Monday. "We could see they were using some sort of light. But it wasn't really a beam of light. ... It was flashing on and off like a strobe."
Schmidt and Duncan debated whether the suspects were breaking any law but eventually decided the action constituted shining — or at least was unusual enough to find out what was going on.
"So we pulled out to talk to them and they took off. ... We had to chase after them and hit them with the (flashing) lights out on the road," Schmidt said.
The suspects eventually stopped and the officers approached their car. It turned out to be two women from Calumet, on the Iron Range, who appeared to be in their late 30s or early 40s, Schmidt said. They didn't have any gun or bow in the car.
"When we asked them what they were doing with the lights they wouldn't tell us. They said we'd make fun of them," Schmidt said.
Eventually the women fessed up: They had been looking for ghosts in the graveyard.
"She explained they were using their phone camera flash to spot ghosts. They said that you can't see ghosts with a normal light, that you have to use a flash," Schmidt said. "I didn't realize ghosts only show up with flash."
Duncan then noticed an unusual blinking light on one of the women's smartphones. It was an app, they explained, called Ghost Radar.
"They said it would allow you to see where the ghosts were that you couldn't see," Schmidt said.
Ghost Radar's website advertises the app as "the original application designed to detect paranormal activity."

I received the following email in August 2012 from an anonymous witness who felt strongly that she had a close encounter with an alien being:
Hello - I submitted a report to MUFON several years ago but never heard back from the group. This incident continues to haunt me. I don't have an actual copy of the report but I'll give you as many details as possible from the notes. I know what I saw is true.
In 1972 I was living in a four family flat in Highland Park, MI on Glendale. I was about 8 years old. A new family had just moved in from Texas and I became friends with their girl who was my age. I slept over at her place one night. In the early a.m. I woke to use the bathroom and got out of bed. The bathroom was located on the right side of the room I was sleeping in, at the end of the hall. The hall was shaped like an 'L'. Not long after I got up I heard a noise that sounded like a door moving. I walked to the long side of the hall to see who was awake.
The light shining from the bathroom allowed me to see what I thought was a small child holding onto a knob and peering out from behind the door. I could see his silhouette and I thought he must be hungry because he looked so skinny. I took a step closer blinking my eyes as to clear up my sleepy vision. As my vision became more clear I turned my head to the left and it mimicked me. That's when I saw the eye - it was large and black - so I turned my head to the right and it mimmicked me again. It had tiny slits for a nose and a dimple for a mouth as it appeared from behind the door. Then I noticed the 3 long fingers holding the door knob. It had no clothes and I could only see the one shoulder. The skin appeared to be grey a dark grey. I took a deep breath and urinated on the wax floor and then fainted. I woke the next morning and remembered that I had urinated on the floor but there was no evidence. I didn't know why I would do that my underwear were bright white, almost glowing. I was back in the bed and there was no urine in the bed. I felt no reason to tell my mom or my friend that I urinated in the hall - there was no proof the wax floor was not damaged and my underwear were better than new.
Well fast forward to 1986 - 14 years later. Time Life Magazine advertised a giveaway book 'Aliens - are they really out there' and flashed a picture of the alien. Suddenly, I flashed back - I was 8 years old again standing in the hall reliving everything over again. They are here...they have been here for years.
For two weeks after that flash back I could not walk. A relative told me I believe there is a chip in my leg and that they may have nicked a nerve inserting it. There was also a deep indentation on my leg for quite a long time. I gained so much weight as well. This happened to me and I decided when I wrote MUFON that I will continue to go on acting as if it was a dream.
There is a bit more to the story and it concerns the family from Texas I was visiting that night. After several years I saw them again and I told them my story. They confirmed it to be true because one of their family later committed suicide as a result of watching the alien move about the residence. This was my friend's younger brother who had not been born before we moved away. The family did not believe his encounters so he eventually killed himself. I wish I could have been there because I saw the alien and I would have believed him.
NOTE: I went into the MUFON CMS and found the report, which was submitted on January 30, 2007. The email is fairly close to the actual report except for a few changes. Lon
“I grew up in Northern California in the 90's and 2000's, lived in the bay area for 25 years with my mom and went to my dad's place on Greenfield Ranch in Mendocino County every other weekend for 20 years. My dad was a property caretaker for a piece of land on the ranch which was 5,500 acres divided into very many smaller land deeds. He watched over 30 plus acres with two cabins and a yurt and a garden that was over an acre and a pond up the hill a few hundred feet. The cabins, being small, I slept in my own with my brother in a loft. It started in 2000 in the middle of the night. We often had visitors and some of them would camp in tents and others stay indoors. My dad and his wife were the only people ever there alone, and it only happened when 1 or 2 people where visiting. Around 3 am a sound would start. It sounded and I'm sorry to have to say it but a women gagged and being stabbed over and over, only screaming when being stabbed. A lot of us heard it. It scared us. It would wake me up. It was paralyzing. I would be so afraid. It felt unnatural. The strange part is my dad and his wife never heard it and our cabins were 100 yards apart and the sound sounded like it came from the pond up hill. Many of us heard it before it stopped in 2002. To this day I have nightmares about that sound."
Hello Lon, been awhile since I submitted a story. This one actually happened 3 years ago. My brother died, August 3rd, 2014. I'm not sure why I never submitted it, I think I was just still in shock from my brothers passing. So my brother had suddenly become Ill and was in the hospital, he had Muscular Dystrophy, so he was having breathing complications. For me it seemed sudden because I guess I didn't live with him and didn't see his health decline. It was a definite shock to me and still to this day. I had traveled to San Antonio to go be with my family during the hard time. I stayed a week. It was a rough week, I cried a river everyday. I know some people, when a loved one dies, they often feel guilty about things they did or didn't do for them. I felt this and wrote a letter to my brother. I left it on his computer desk. I was actually staying in his room while I was there. So I left it there and sat on the bed crying. The TV was off and it was day time. You know how you can see a reflection on the TV screen? Well, in my peripheral, I swear I saw my brother reading the letter! I saw him only on the TVs reflection. I quickly turned to look but he wasn't there anymore. That was the only incident I encountered there.
I forgot to mention that during the week before he passed, I was having strange experiences. I actually submitted a story about a possible sort of rod bug sighting, it wasn't a rod bug but it had that shape to it, but it was so much stranger than that. I also had this experience where, it was weird, I was in the living room with my husband watching Netflix, we had been up all night and it was now morning. I was just sitting there when my right eye started to feel weird and I started to see something, it looked like a blob of static and I could only see it in my peripheral. I thought I was going crazy, but this thing kept getting bigger and bigger! And it was like a big static blob. And I couldn't see out of my eye. And of course my husband couldn't see it. It was really big, and then after a long while it slowly dissipated. This happened the morning before my brother ended up in the hospital. He apparently had a OBE that same morning! According to my other brother, he was with him. He said our brother had an OBE and could see everyone, me our sister, anyone he knew, he could see them all at the same time! Could it be that during my experience, my brother was somehow seeing me? Is that what that blob could've been? I saw it 2 other times, haven't seen it in 2 years.
Well so that happened before he died, after I went back home, there were several experiences. The first night, I was in bed, I slept with the light on, and always left the door slightly open for my cat. Well this night I was laying in bed, sort of half asleep, if you will, and all of the sudden I could see a bright light through my eyelids. I felt a strong presence, the light was brighter than the lamp I had on, so bright, and I was too scared to open my eyes, but whatever it was really wanted me to open my eyes. I never did, and then I felt something go into my chest and it made me feel dark and cold, like it was taking my life. It felt like it was squeezing my heart, it hurt, I was still in this sort of half asleep state, but I winced and made a groan and I turned on my side. Then it stopped. I felt the presence sort of feel annoyed or aggravated with me because I would not look, and then I awoke to my door slamming shut! I sat up and I looked at my door, it was closed. And my cat was nowhere to be seen.
Another experience was with my husband, he heard a voice that spoke right in his ear, it said, 'hey man!' And my husband woke up really freaked out. He said it sounded like my brother but not really. I still wonder if it was my brother visiting before he moved on. I'll never know, and I still feel bad that I didn't look. I just felt like I wasn't "ready". MR

Canary Island's Volcano Eruption / Tsunami Fear
After a year that has seen concern about potential voicano eruptions in Iceland, Italy and Bali, volcanologists on the Canary Islands have been asked to work out whether the island of La Palma is facing an imminent eruption.
The experts have been asked to monitor activity on the island, which saw 400 tremors in 15 hours over the weekend, according to The Express.
Close to Tenerife, Cumbre Vieja (meaning “Old Summit”) previously erupted in 1949 and 1971. After the recent tremors - and a 3.5cm rise in the earth over the past year - scientists have been asked to monitor the volcano, amid fears that an eruption might lead to an earthquake and possible tsunami.
So now a special hydrogeochemical monitoring programme has been set up in a bid to improve volcanic monitoring of the volcano. Scientists will take samples of subterranean waters and PH levels, conductivity, temperature and dissolved gas activity three times a week at four locations in Cumbre Vieja.
Malawi Doctors Claim 'Vampire Scare' is Mass Hysteria
Doctors in Malawi have said claims by people in the Southern Region that there are blood suckers are not true and are a case of mass hysteria.
According to a statement signed by Dr Amos Salimanda who is The Society of Medical Doctors (SMD) president, evidence gathered from health facilities in the affected districts shows that no one has adequate clinical evidence to support any of the many claims to date and all people claiming to be victims have normal blood count.
The doctors say the rumours of blood sucking in various districts in the Southern Region are nothing more than mass hysteria.
“The initial isolated incidents may have had elements of Shared Delusion Disorder. This is when a dominant individual who is deluded and can have those following him believe and internalize his delusions. Shared delusion is usually confined to a locality.
“In view of the magnitude of the problem in that it is affecting many districts and the readiness of many Malawians to internalize these beliefs this presentation would constitute that of Mass Hysteria. It is the considered view of the Society that such blood suckers do not exist! This is purely Mass Hysteria,” says the statement.
In the statement, SMD has also expressed concern over recent incidents where health workers were attacked after being accused into blood sucking saga.
The doctors say the irate behaviour by some individuals who were accusing health workers of being blood suckers for carrying medical devices such as stethoscope is unwelcome.
“The Society is further disturbed by the reports of thuggery that has resulted into some health workers being attacked for carrying a stethoscope, and some have had unfortunate incidences of having their vehicles smashed, and in others having their possessions taken off them for being suspected of being blood suckers, and or in pursuit of the non-existent suckers,” reads part of the statement.
According to the statement, some ambulances have also been attacked whilst being used to ferry patients to and or from hospital.
“This is despicable and we condemn all these and all similar acts of barbarism on innocent people unreservedly and in the strongest language possible.
“No health worker can suck blood with a stethoscope, nor with a power bank. In fact no one else can!” says the statement.
Recently, Inspector General of Malawi Police Lexten Kachama also refuted claims that there are blood suckers in some parts of the country. - Doctors rubbishes claims of blood sucking
