'The Chena Chomper'

OK folks...what is it?

A now-viral video showing something moving slowly through a river in Alaska is drawing comparisons to the famous Loch Ness monster in Scotland.

The video was posted Oct. 26 on Facebook by Alaska’s Bureau of Land Management. It shows what the department called a “strange thing” swimming in the Chena River in Fairbanks.

Bureau employees Craig McCaa and Ryan Delaney are credited with taking the video, which has now been viewed more than 333,000 times on Facebook.

Bureau of Land Management officials admit to adding music and adjusting the speed of the video, but they maintain that what was spotted in the river is real.

One biologist suggests the sighting is really a frozen rope. Social media users’ imaginations have run wild with speculation.

Online guesses to the identity of the “strange thing” have ranged from it being a “zombie salmon” just in time for Halloween to a cold fish to a mysterious beast deemed “The Chena Chomper.” Video can be found at 'Strange Thing' Spotted in Alaska River Draws Comparison to Scotland's Loch Ness Monster
