Ouija...Something's Under the Bed!

Cam in Portland, Oregon called in to tell of her Ouija board stories:

“When I was younger and growing up, my sister and I were completely... oh, this is a Ouija story. We were obsessed with the Ouija board. We used to play it nightly, weekly. We got to the point where I didn't think it would work until I would see an apparition. That's how I knew, I thought in my head, it worked. So I decided to make one.

I was pretty artistic as a kid. I went and bought a really nice piece of wood. I painted on the letters and I made a planchette out of wood as all. It's pretty simple. It seemed to work really well. Things started showing up in my house and I would hear something walk across my bedroom at night. I started getting really freaked out. I didn't want to be home. I used to come home on my lunch break and I didn't want to go home because I was too scared to be there by myself.

One day I was in my room and I was playing with toys. I was probably about 12 or 13 at the time and I had a toy by my bed. I wasn't thinking anything paranormal. I used to read about the paranormal too, so I was always obsessed with it. I had the toy by my bed and I remember looking over and thinking I saw something reach out from underneath the bed and grab the toy. Like I... Yeah, I remember it was a brush with a doll and it had a glitter, like these little rhinestone glittery things on them, on one side of it, so it was a pretty brush and I remember it specifically. I thought, Oh my god, I didn't just see that. I didn't see that, you know, it must have just been a shadow or... I was confused. I dropped it and it fell under the bed or something. You know when you see stuff like that, you're... I didn't just see that. You are trying to rationalize what you see. I said, Okay, it's just under there.

I bent down and it's not there. Okay, maybe it just fell way back or I pushed it. I look on my knees, head all the way under the bed. It's not there. I never found it. After that experience, I got real freaked out. I stopped playing with the board I made. My sister took it with her.

A couple of years down the road, she went to college and took it with her. And she said when she started using it again, something came and woke her up. She saw it hovering above her bed. She said it was a black mass. She couldn't see through it. And she knew it was there... she felt like it was looking for her friend. She had been playing the board with her friend. Her friend had left for the evening and she felt like it had come for her friend. I don't know why she said she felt that but that was the distinct feeling she had. She got really freaked out after that and she... I know you're not supposed to do this but she burned it.

She had a Wiccan friend that came in and cleansed the house, or her apartment after that. I wasn't around. I didn't have any part of that. I haven't touched one ever since. (Dave Schrader asks how about seeing the thing under the bed) I was such disbelief at what I saw I thought I somehow maybe I didn't understand. I don't know, the toy was gone though. I never found the toy. I remember, it was a brush with rhinestones on it and I never found it after that.”
