Daily 2 Cents: UFO Sighting After 2011 Mid-Atlantic Earthquake -- Spectre in Manchester Pub -- Bizarre Japan Tsunami Ghost Stories

UFO Sighting After 2011 Mid-Atlantic Earthquake

Hi Lon,
I have no proof, just 2 witnesses to part of it. We tried pix but they were no good due to the distance of the object.

It was Aug 23, 2011, the day the east coast had an earthquake which is rare. I've been here since 1969 and never so much as an earth hiccup. Anyways, I felt my condo bldg, shake and thought it was a cherry picker that got away across the parking lot re-roofing. I have pet birds and they were dead silent and then it occured to me to go outside. My neighbor from upstairs was freaking out and I went and talked to him. We went to the front of the bldg to talk and his wife came out and as we stood talking there was a black thing drifting out of the sky. I swear it was changing shape as it floated back and forth and strangely, the air was dead still. That wasnt the UFO. We were staring at the black thing coming down and then a dime sized, silver object was much further up that was shooting every direction without any turns. It would change directions like anything I ever saw. I have a suspicion that the black object was somehow related with the flying object. As it floated down it just didnt seem to take a solid shape. After the silver object was shooting around for awhile it seemed to just fade to nothing. Afterwards, about 30 min. later, I called my parents in N.C. (Im in No.Va.) because I wasnt sure how far the quake hit. After getting thru and speaking to my mother I saw a bullet shaped shadow flying upwards into the sky. It left a white exhaust and had no wings. As it continued to ascend it went through a cloud. It never came out but continued to make the white exhaust. I knew 99% that the silver object was not of this world and reported it to a website. When I got a call from the man he told me that more and more that they are finding before or soon after a natural disaster that there are sightings of UFOs. BTW, this all happened between 1:45 - 3 pm. I had a picture I found that looks exactly like what I saw but cant find it. Ill continue to look.

My UFO wasnt dramatic but it was my first sighting that I knew what it was for sure. Not of this world.

Thanks,
Lou

Spectre in Manchester Pub

Spooked staff at one of Britain's oldest pubs believe they have caught a ghost on CCTV.

The freaky footage, which appears to show a shadowy figure flickering into view by the bar, was filmed at Ye Olde Man and Scythe in Bolton.

Manager Tony Dooley spotted the spectre when he checked the cameras on Friday morning and found they had mysteriously stopped recording at 6.18am.

"I came down and saw a glass smashed on the floor so I was instantly suspicious and went to check the CCTV and found it has stopped working," he said.

"We checked the footage and it revealed this figure.

"To be honest I was a bit concerned - I'm a bit of a sceptic when it comes to ghosts but you become more of a believer when you see things like that."

The pub, which dates from 1251, is the fourth-oldest pub in Britain and is reputedly haunted by the Seventh Earl of Derby, James Stanley.

The royalist, whose family originally owned the inn, is said to have spent the last hours of his life there before he was beheaded in 1651 towards the end of the Civil War.

The chair he sat in before he was taken outside and executed is still in the pub today - and some say so is he.

Hundreds of soldiers and civilians were also killed outside the pub in the Bolton Massacre of 1644.

With such a bloody history, it has long been considered a hotspot for paranormal activity and a psychic evening held there in 2006 reportedly found it to be haunted by at least 25 spirits.

Among them is said to be a woman who hung herself in the cellar several centuries ago as well as an eight-year-old girl and a phantom dog.

"There have always been rumours it is haunted and we've had psychic readings done here in the past," said Tony.

"Occasionally you hear things and wonder if it's just the building settling down or whether it's something else.

"It's the fourth-oldest pub in Great Britain so it's had its fair share of deaths and whatnot." - Check the video - Manchester Evening News

Researchers grow human lungs in lab for first time

In a breakthrough that could one day revolutionize transplant medicine, researchers have successfully grown human lungs in a lab for the first time, Medical News Today reported.

Using portions of lungs from two deceased children, researchers from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston created a scaffold-like structure by stripping one set of lungs down to just collagen and elastin – the main components in connective tissue.

The researchers then gathered cells from the other set of lungs and applied them to the scaffolding, before placing it in a chamber filled with nutritious liquid. Four weeks later, the team had a complete human lung – and they were able to successfully repeat the procedure using another set of lungs.

The researchers first developed this technique in 2010, and have since tested the method on rat lungs and pig lungs before testing it on human lungs.

"It's taken us a year to prove to ourselves that we actually did a good job with it. You don't run out immediately and tell the world you have something wonderful until you've proved it to ourselves that we really did something amazing," researcher Dr. Joan Nichols said.

Though the researchers are excited about their discovery, they said it could take a minimum of 12 years before the use of lab-generated lungs in human transplants becomes a reality. - Fox News

Bizarre Tsunami Ghost Stories Haunt Japan

An unusual outbreak has struck Japan in the wake of the 2011 tsunami that killed nearly 20,000 people—of ghosts, possessions, and exorcisms. Reverend Kaneda, the top priest at a Zen temple, says he personally exorcised several people who had been invaded by the spirits of tsunami victims, writes Richard Lloyd Parry in the London Review of Books. Believe the stories or don't, they can be moving and scary:

A farmer who flippantly visited the tsunami scene—while eating an ice cream no less—terrified his wife in the coming days by jumping down on all fours, licking the futon, bellowing all night, and saying, "Everyone must die." Kaneda scolded the farmer for acting foolishly and exorcised the spirit. "Something got hold of you, perhaps the dead who cannot accept yet that they are dead."

A fire station in Tagajo kept getting calls to places that were demolished by the tsunami, until the firefighters prayed for spirits of people who had died—and the calls stopped coming.

A Sendai cab driver picked up a sad-looking man who wanted to go to an address that had been swept away. The cab driver looked in the mirror and saw that his passenger was gone, but the driver drove there anyway and opened the door for the ghost to leave.

Kaneda exorcised one woman of 25 spirits that entered her one after the other. One said he was a father trying to find his daughter when the quake struck. Now he was at "the bottom of the sea," unable to swim up because "there are bodies all around me."

According to Parry, Japan's unspoken religion, the cult of ancestors, may be behind all this. Many Japanese keep memorial tablets for dead ancestors—the ihai—and consider them alive in some way. Knowing this, a book publisher who doesn't believe in the supernatural held readings of ghost stories at community centers, where locals could tell their own tales as a form of therapy. "We provide an alternative for helping people through the power of literature," he said. - Newser
