Just the Facts?: Ohio Pterosaur Sightings -- 'Mel's Hole' Mystery -- Britain Big Cat Updates

Ohio Pterosaur Sightings

A living pterosaur in Ohio, not millions of years ago but in the twentieth century—that should be in the news. But a number of eyewitnesses have reported apparent live pterosaurs in Ohio, regardless of the apparent lack of newspaper headlines. Probably unknown to many news media reporters and editors, sighting in neighboring states may be of the same species or at least are related to what was seen in Middletown, Ohio, years ago. (Middletown is about thirty miles north of Cinncinati.) “Pterodactyls” have also been reported in Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.

Middletown, Ohio, Pterosaur Sighting

This is a second-hand report given to the Gulf Coast Bigfoot Research Organization. The sighting of the flying creature (bird, bat, pterodactyl, or by whatever label it received by the eyewitnesses) was at night.

"Him and a bunch of guys about 17 years old were looking around an old barn one night and they saw a large, featherless bird. He said it was standing like a bird would but was about 6 feet four inches tall. Its skin appeared like leather. This occurred sometime in the early 1990′s. This was at that time an undeveloped area. Just a farm area. . . . as they entered the barn the [flying creature that was referred to as a "bird"] turned to look at them [moving only its head]. They ran out . . ." - Investigating Reports of Living Pterosaurs, by Jonathan Whitcomb

NOTE: I have received at least 2 'Mothman-like' reports from the Middletown, Ohio area within the past few years...Lon

'Mel's Hole' shrouded in mystery

From Bigfoot to the disappearance of D.B. Cooper, the Pacific Northwest is full of mysteries.

Another mystery burred deep in the hills of eastern Washington keeps resurfacing.

Ellensburg and its surrounding valleys and Manastash Ridge are beautiful in any season.

Some believe what lies beneath is a deep, dark hole with supernatural powers.

A man named Red Elk is one of the only people alive known to have ever seen the mysterious hole.

A Native American Shaman, or medicine man, Red Elk said his dad first showed him the hole in 1961.

"He said 'This is an endless hole,'" Red Elk said.

Red Elk's been back many times and said strange things happen every time he goes near it.

"People get it confused with what I call the devil's hole," he said.

Many locals claim to know about the hole, but it didn't become phenomena until 1997, when Mel Waters went on the Coast to Coast radio show with Art Bell.

"I brought the dogs with me." Waters said on the show. "They wouldn't go anywhere near the damn thing."

Waters said the hole had a three-foot stone wall around it.

It seemed bottomless to him, so he used an old shark fisherman's trick -- sending thousands of feet of fishing line down.

"What I did, was I sent down a roll of lifesavers," he said. "So when it hit water the lifesavers would dissolve."

But the lifesavers came back up whole -- no water -- so how deep was this hole?

Waters said he believed it descended miles into the earth and he heard strange stories about its powers.

"One guy claims that he threw his departed canine down into the hole," he said. "He swears the dog actually came back to him."

Red Elk said it was when Waters went public that the trouble began.

"Now I'm going public on this. And that could land me in a pile of junk," he said.

Red Elk claims the government has a secret base there.

"An underground base, a very small, underground base," he said.

That's how Red Elk explains the white boxes covering the area on some satellite images.

He also said he's seen "alien activity" in the area.

"A huge space craft, one, will appear and hover over the hole," he said.

That's what he said happens during Summer Solstice, when space men load and unload things at the hole before flying away.

At the Northwest Museum of Legends and Lore, Phil Lipson said he's heard the stories.

"Well, I believe there is a hole," Lipson said.

But Lipson's never seen the hole, even though he's led expeditions to find it.

"I think it's actually a true event just something that's never been totally uncovered," he said.

And to this day, no one's been able to find it, since that famous radio conversation.

Ellensburg Public Library Historian Milton Wagy said the story became a sensation after Waters went on the radio.

He said the phone rang off the hook with all kinds of stories about the hole -- some explainable -- some not.

He's still trying to solve the mystery of what happened to the library's file on Mel's Hole.

"Well it just disappeared, which lends itself to the mysteriousness of Mel's Hole," Wagy said. "Did Mel take it? Did it just kind of rise out of the locked file cabinet."You never know there might be a hole out there."

Now the question who, is anyone can find Mel's Hole and prove its existence? - keprtv

Groomer cut's off dog's ear...then tries to glue it back on!

Two Oahu women have filed a lawsuit against Petco, claiming their dogs had parts of their bodies cut off while being groomed at the Kaneohe store.

Three-year-old Gilzale and Pomeranian-Maltese mix Dodo are the best of friends. The little girl was crushed when the dog was injured.

Her grandmother, Gladys Kapuwai, says she took Dodo to Petco in Kaneohe for grooming last July and, a couple of days later, realized one of her ears had been cut.

"Was dried, bloody, was dry blood, everything," Kapuwai said. "I noticed that at home, so when I took her to the vet, the doctor had told me it looked like they tried to glue it back."

The lawsuit alleges that Petco attempted to reattach, glue or sew the ear back on, and failed to disclose what happened when Kapuwai picked the dog up.

"I couldn't believe what they did," Kapuwai said. "I started crying because this is our baby, too, you know."

The civil complaint alleges that a similar incident happened with Attorney Michael Green's pet. Green's wife is also listed as a plaintiff.

"The nails are bleeding because they were cut too short, the dog was filthy and the tip of the dog's tail was cut off," Green said. "They didn't seem, the people at Petco didn't seem overly concerned about that."

He says the pet store chain's negligence caused serious emotional distress.

"My dog, they offered another free grooming," Green said. "I guess they wanted to take off other body parts."

Petco Kaneohe referred us to its local public relations representative, who did not immediately respond to our request for comment.

Kapuwai hopes the lawsuit will lead to more training for the pet stylists. She says the staff should have come clean about Dodo's injury sooner.

"Even the doctor said they could have saved her ear if they told me right there, but they didn't," Kapuwai said. - hawaiinewsnow

Mystery of the Middle Eastern Girls Who Cry Stones

According to a local newspaper, Kura has been excreting stones from her right eye for the last two weeks but doctors are not sure what is causing the phenomenon.

On average the young girl weeps between 12 to 25 stones a day. Nitya says she doesn't feel any pain but her right eye swells before the stones drop out.

Her grandfather Gopal Reddy says he first noticed the strange happenings in October. 'Initially, we thought it was some divine power and prayed to God for this phenomenon to stop,' he told the Star online.

The girl's parents have seen several different specialists but none have had an answer.

Ophthalmologist Dr Kalyan Chakaravarthy said Nitya was healthy and he could find no reason as to why she was weeping stones.

The stones have been kept for medical tests.

BIG CAT NEWS: It's a strange and small world

From Jon Downes at Cryptozoology Online: The hunt for British Big Cats attracts far more newspaper column inches than any other cryptozoological subject.

There are so many of them now that we feel that they should be archived in some way by us, so we should have a go at publishing a regular round-up of the stories as they come in.

It takes a long time to do, and is a fairly tedious task, so I am not promising that they will be done each day, but I will do them as regularly as I can.

Go to Cryptozoology Online for continued updates on sightings and evidence of the Big Cat phenomena in Great Britain.
