Fortean / Alternative News: Airliner UFO Witnessed, Romanian Witch Laws and Welsh Roswell Debate

Silver sphere UFO witnessed over airliner wing

MUFON CMS - 1/14/11: While on a return flight from Sydney to Melbourne at around 9:00am I decided to take a photo outside of the plane window to capture the clouds. While placing the camera in a vertical position and looking through the preview screen I noticed a ball shape appear a split second just before I pressed the camera button and then it disappeared just as quickly. It did not fly away, it simply vanished. There is no motion blur in the photo and the plane was flying at around 700-800kph at an altitude of around 18,000 meters, so I can only assume that the object was following and keeping an exact pace with the aircraft in a "cloaked" state as it simply showed itself just as I was about to press the button. There is no way I could have just fluked it, it was as if it appeared on que.

Proposed witch legislation: must have a permit and face prison if predictions are wrong

straitstimes - Legislation being debated in Romania would require witches to get a permit and make it possible to fine or even imprison one whose prediction turns out to be false.

The draft bill has just started its way through Parliament in Romania, where witchcraft has been part of its culture for centuries.

On Jan. 1, Romania changed its labour laws to officially recognise witchcraft as a profession, angering some witches.

Vasile Bleotu, a Social Democrats lawmaker, said on Tuesday that the Senate passed the draft legislation last week but it still must be approved by a financial and labour committee and Romania's Chamber of Deputies.

It also would require witches to provide their customers with receipts and bar them from practicing near schools and churches.

"Vote for me and go to heaven..."

zoopy - President Jacob Zuma has reportedly told ANC supporters in Mthatha that voting for the ANC would get them into heaven, leaving South African opposition parties outraged.

Zuma’s speech apparently included the statement that: "When you vote for the ANC, you are also choosing to go to heaven. When you don't vote for the ANC you should know that you are choosing that man who carries a fork... who cooks people.
”

The DA has demanded an apology from President Jacob Zuma. DA spokeswoman Lindiwe Mazibuko said yesterday that Zuma should “apologise to all South Africans for his attempt to employ religious threats for political ends”.

She also said that ordinary South Africans “of all backgrounds and creeds will find the president’s comments offensive and unacceptable”.

ACDP president Kenneth Meshoe has labelled Zuma’s comments blasphemous, adding that no angels would be wearing ANC colours. He said, “I find it disappointing to hear the head of state - who should be an example of integrity - choosing to be the laughing stock of the nation by being deceptive.”

The ANC, in response, agreed with Zuma, but did not feel the "figurative" and "metaphoric" statement was blasphemous.

"Those who are 'alarmed' by his expression are probably driven by jealousy for not having thought of the expression themselves," ANC spokesperson Jackson Mthembu said.

Man who beheaded his wife, found guilty of murder

goddiscussion - Arrested in February 2009 for the stabbing and beheading of his estranged wife Aasiya Zubair, an Erie County jury took one hour today to find Muzzammil Hassan guilty of second degree murder. Testimony had gone on for 13 days.

Hassan was formerly the CEO of Bridges TV, an American Muslim media outlet. Unlike his estranged wife, he was not a devout Muslim. Nonetheless, many characterized the murder as an honor killing.

According to local news station WIVB.com, Hassan painted himself as the victim in his two hour closing statement:

:My enemies are not these people. It is their false belief in the false religion of patriarchy that has unleashed a bloodbath on American women because battered men have no legal way out. Has there been any eyewitness who's seen it with their own eyes, me hitting Aasiya? They have no eyewitnesses. They have no evidence, just hearsay."

Hassan is scheduled to be sentenced on March 9.

North Wales UFO ‘crash’ is back in the spotlight

leaderlive - A debate over whether or not a UFO came down in the mountains of North Wales has been raging for decades.

Now a magazine has brought both sides of the argument about the ‘Welsh Roswell’ together for the first time.

UFO Matrix magazine looks at the theory of Scott Felton, from Conwy UFO group, who is convinced a UFO landed in the Berwyn Mountains on January 23, 1974.

The article contrasts Scott’s view with that of Flintshire UFO-logist Andy Roberts, who argues there was no UFO that night.

Philip Mantle, editor of UFO Matrix, said: “From time to time we will take a particular incident and put the arguments both for and against it. In this instance I chose the Berwyn Mountains UFO incident. Scott and Andy both know each other and of course have very different conflicting views.

“We simply allow our readers to reach their own conclusions.

“Scott and Andy submitted their features separately and neither knew what the other had written.”

The item by Mr Roberts looks at investigations into the event and witness reports before concluding “until more solid evidence is produced I think the notion that an alien spacecraft crashed in the Berwyn Mountains is redundant”.

He says: “However certain a witness may seem, memory frequently conflates fact and fiction to create a powerful and convincing reality that seems to admit the ‘other’ into the affairs of mankind.”

Mr Felton’s article says his job as a game and water keeper, combined with his interest in the Welsh language, “started alarm bells ringing” when he first read the account by Mr Roberts.

He writes: “I immediately knew his claim that District Nurse Pat Evans and two accompanying daughters had seen a poacher's lamp rather than a landed (or crashed) UFO was completely wrong.

“It was that single point which set me off investigating his claims within the event as a whole.

“I was familiar with not only the Berwyn Range, but its game and wildlife too and I knew that even the most stupid poachers would not be hunting that terrain at that altitude at that time of year.”

Mr Felton goes on to examine other pieces of evidence in the article to support his view that “without question, a UFO landed on Cader Berwyn on the night of January 23, 1974”.

The articles discussing the incident feature in the fourth edition of UFO Matrix magazine, available from branches of WH Smith.
