Sasquatch and the U.S. Government

The following are accounts and links that suggest the government has more than a curious interest in Sasquatch:

Cowlitz County, Washington - 1980 May - at one of Ray Crowe's Western Bigfoot Meetings, someone brought up the topic of corpses of sasquatch after the May 18, 1980 eruption of Mt. St. Helens in Washington State. The witness heard of two sasquatch the Army Corps of Engineers had taken out of the volcanic devistation...two months after the inital blast.

Terry Reams heard of a dredging operation of the Cowlitz River and two bodies were found in the sand (probably same case?). A chopper flew them off.

Joe Beelart offered that the crane doing the dredging was from the Manatowaka Company and that the bodies were found two weeks after the Mt. St. Helen's blast of May 18, 1980. He suggested that somebody might want to track down the company and find out who was working the shift that the bodies had been found on.

During a tour of the devastation by helicopter in 1985, the Viet veteran helo pilot mentioned a similar tale to Bobbie Short saying there were military helos that choppered out nets full of burned and semi burned elk, deer, bear and something with hairy charred arms hanging out of the drop nets. They were taken to a common pit where the bodies were burned to avoid disease and contamination of the rivers.

Location: COWLITZ county, WA. UNITED STATES

Fred Bradshaw report concerning dead Bigfoot bodies near Mt. St. Helens.

My father worked for Weyerhauser Co. at Green Mountain ,WA, east of Vancouver. The site has security on their roads to check on the equipment and check closed areas to keep people out.

My father was working the day Mt. St. Helens blew up. He was at a meeting in Kelso, WA, and as he was a supervisor, when Mt. St. Helens blew it's side out, all heck cut lose.

My father was sent back to Green Mountain right away but like most he wasn't allowed to go very far because of the mud slide coming down the river. He did get to the town of Toutle, WA, on highway 504 off I-5. He and his crew were placed at different spots to watch mud flow and of course help people get out of the blast zone after the major blow up. He was sent to the area of Spirit Lake to keep people out.

When the second major blow up of the mountain came, my father and the other guy with him reported in, and they got out of there.

He was then placed in charge of the helicopter landing zone. It was his job to help keep people out of the landing zone and let aid crews in so they could care for injured.

Later. when all the people were out and bodies out, the National Guard was brought in to clean up. They hauled dead animals out that they placed in piles; deer in one, elk in another and so on. They were covered up with tarps and later burned.

But my father was placed in charge of one pile of dead that were covered and no one was allowed to go near. Armed U.S. National Guard personal were around this pile, and one day when they were going to move this group of bodies, and my father was very close to it and was told to keep his mouth closed. And when the tarps were removed he saw the creatures, some badly burned and some not. They placed them in a net and lifted them into a truck and covered it over. My father asked a guardsmen what will they do with them and he said study them or what ever...he didn't want to know. He said it's like other things you don't ask, and off they went . AND NO ONE KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM. My father and the rest were debriefed and sent home.

Bigfoot Recovered - Injured in Forest Fire

NOTE: After I had posted the following Oh-Mah - The 'Boss of the Woods' in November 2008, I received an email from a man in southern Washington who stated that he had heard anecdotes from Yakima native people in reference Oh-Mah or Sasquatch after the Mt. St. Helen's eruption. The most prominent account was that of a large male Oh-Mah that was badly burned, but still alive, that took refuge in an area east of the devastation near traditional tribal lands. He was told that government agents in military gear captured the Oh-Mah and airlifted it to an undisclosed location. I have no way of knowing if this is a true account but it does seem to suggest that there was an effort made to take advantage of the eruption in order to capture specimans either dead or alive...Lon

Three Gorges Dam Causing Earthquakes, Landslides

timesonline - The Three Gorges dam was so vast and sweeping a vision that nothing could stand in its way. Not the old cities of the Yangtze valley, storehouses of human toil and treasure for more than a thousand years. Not the lush, low-lying farmlands, nor the villages, nor even the pagodas and temples that graced the riverbanks.

The cries of dissenting scientists and the lamentations of more than a million Chinese people forced to leave their ancestral lands counted for nothing.

When the waters rose to 570ft last year, drowning all these things, it marked a triumph for the engineers at the top of the Chinese Communist party.

But in the past six months a sinister trail of events has unfolded from the dam all the way up the 410-mile reservoir to the metropolis of Chongqing.

It began with strange, small-scale earthquakes recorded by official monitoring stations and reported by the Chinese media.

Mysterious cracks split roads and sundered schoolhouses and apartments in newly built towns and villages on the bluffs looking down on the river.

The local government now says that 300,000 people will have to move out in addition to the 1.4m evicted to make way for the dam.

More than 50,000 residents have already been relocated owing to seismic problems that were not foreseen when the dam was built, according to the state news agency, Xinhua.

As the boats sail by, landslides can be seen from the river — some small, some big — staining the waters of the Yangtze with minerals and sediment.

Big pleasure cruisers, tramp steamers and shoals of sampans plough through waters that switch from hue to hue as their chemical composition changes.

In Badong county, midway through the Three Gorges, celebrated in Chinese painting and poetry, the citizens are troubled by a sense of foreboding.

The local government hastily moved out of a prestigious new block after experts warned that it was unsafe.

But ordinary folk and even schoolchildren have been left to fend for themselves. More than 3,000 children attend school every day in a building dating back to 1943 that officials know to be at risk of collapse. Nothing has been done to move them, supposedly because of a lack of funds.

The playground is riddled with cracks. One ominous jagged line runs down the side of the classrooms.

“The government agrees that our whole school must move,” said a worried teacher, who asked not to be named, “but so far it’s just talk.”

In a telling example of China’s glaring class differences, a group of unemployed workers live in housing provided by the state that is visibly cracking at the seams.

“What kind of dogshit government moves itself out and moves us into somewhere like this?” one of them complained.

“My house is like a fishing pond whenever it rains,” said Grandma Wang, 72. “I don’t mind for myself because I am old, but I care for my granddaughter, who is 10 and has to live in here.”

Badong is one of many places where the land and the water have interacted in ways that only a few scientists predicted before the dam was built. Their objections were overruled by the party.

But last week even the state media acknowledged that the Three Gorges area faced a “grim” situation. Officials have counted 97 significant landslides this year alone. These are linked to the worrying increase in seismic activity.

As the water rises, it penetrates fissures and seeps into soil. Then it loosens the slopes that ascend at steep angles on either side of the river. Eventually, rocks, soil and stone give way. The landslides undermine the geology of the area. That, in turn, sets off earth tremors. It may be the world’s biggest case of rising damp.

One of the most startling examples can be seen on the river at an ancient stopping point where sampans moor. Hundreds of migrant workers live in abandoned shops and small houses along “the steps to the sky”, a stone staircase ascending from the riverbank up which labourers still carry their burdens on poles. A spiderweb of cracks patterns the slope.

“The owners all moved out because they are scared, so we rent this place out to porters to sleep for 10 yuan [about £1] a night,” said a drink seller.

Nearby, two entire apartment buildings stand vacant with their windows and doors open to the rains. An official notice warns: “Dangerous Dwelling!”

The dam, built at a cost of more than £15 billion, was meant to control the scourge of flooding, irrigate arid provinces and generate millions of kilowatts in cheap, clean electricity. It is not working out like that.

As the summer rains build up and the waters rise again behind the breathtaking span of the dam, with its 26 mighty turbines, only a trickle of stagnant water emerges.

Along the waterfront in Yichang, the nearest city to the dam, people wash their cars in the water, but the smell can be overpowering.

“It’s not clean,” said the captain of a ferryboat chugging upstream on the reservoir. “I’ve been on the river for 30 years and in the old days the water was so swift that anything dirty was swept away. But now it’s a lake. The waters are still. All the filth sinks to the bottom.”

Once fast-flowing, the river seems oddly tranquil, and from the wharves at Chongqing it looks stagnant, polluted and murky.

Officials dismissed the first landslides as the foreseeable side-effects of a massive dam project. They are not so dismissive now. A total of 9,324 potentially dangerous sites have been identified. Geologists working midway down the reservoir have found 700 around one town alone on the north bank. Experts say the landslides could go on for 20 years as a huge settlement of earth and water takes shape.

It will cost China more than £5 billion to solve all this. A special budget is being worked out inside the opaque bureaucracy that controls the state’s megaprojects.

On the plus side, the power is flowing to cities as far away as Shanghai, and officials argue that it cuts air pollution and reduces greenhouse gases. They have built 50 waste water plants to cleanse the reservoir and created numerous landfill dumps.

However, political and scientific confusion reigns over the dam’s failure to relieve drought in the provinces of Hubei, Hunan and Jiangxi down the Yangtze, while leaders argue about how much water to release, and when.

“There are some good things and some bad things about the dam,” said Huang Lu, 64, an itinerant seller of cigarettes and sex potions along the river. “But we older people lost so much ... our memories, our friends, our culture. Now I can only see the old things in my dreams.”

Haunted Plains - Old Cowtown Museum, Wichita, Kansas

kansas - Long after the regular visitors left the Old Cowtown Museum on Saturday, an odd group of detectives gathered in the employee parking lot and unloaded its high-tech gear.

More than a dozen members of the Wichita Paranormal Research Society carried infrared cameras, thermal imagers and electromagnetic field data loggers into the museum for an overnight hunt.

"What we're looking for is any paranormal activity," Sherrie Curry, one of the investigators, said in an earlier interview. "Apparitions, voices, movement of items. Pretty much anything that we can't explain.

"Mostly what we do is try to catch ghosts."

Group founder Shane Elliott said that on most weekends, the group is invited into a Kansas home or business to see if it can explain unnatural activity.

"I'd say 90 to 95 percent we can explain away," he said.

Often, he said, something as simple as bad electrical wiring can appear to make things go haywire.

But the group, which was formed in 2007 and has twice before conducted overnight hunts at Cowtown, can't explain everything it has found at the museum.

Wind chimes that tinkled for no reason. Stones tossed by people who weren't there. A candle removed from a candelabra.

"The Murdock house has the most paranormal activity," Currie said. "The DeVore Farm — that's where we had the wind chimes. We've had some unexplainable footsteps in the drugstore-dentist area. We've had a couple (of events) in the jail, but there's not a whole lot there. And a little bit in the blacksmith shop. I'd say the most activity is in the Murdock House."

The group will discuss the results of this weekend's hunt when it holds its third annual Historic Haunting at Cowtown event in October.

Elliott said he was a skeptic when he got married, but that his wife was always interested in paranormal activity.

"If she was watching anything (on television) that had to do with UFOs or ghosts, I'd go out in the garage," he said. "Before 2005, I never believed in any of this."

That changed one night that year when he heard a sound on a baby monitor that became a lullaby.

"I got this strange feeling that it was my grandmother, who'd passed away when I was 16."

He said he began paying attention to those shows his wife was watching.

Curry said she had a similar experience while staying at a farmhouse near Lawrence that was rented by an in-law. She said the house gave her the creeps. At one point, she said, she saw what appeared to be a white form floating past a bed. And the settings on an alarm clock in the house kept changing without explanation, she said.

She said she later learned that the former owner had committed suicide in the barn. She said she has since learned that most paranormal activity is attributed to the dead.

"The theory is that people who have passed away can become attached to their house, or to a particular location or to a particular item — say a favorite jewelry box or favorite musical instrument," she said.

Cowtown isn't the only public place where the group has found paranormal activity. The Orpheum Theater also has its share, Currie said.

"We do have recordings of voices there," she said. "Employees who have worked there and people who have come to perform there have had experiences in the dressing room."

Throughout their investigations, the investigators have yet to come across anything evil.

"We haven't actually run into anything that would be considered a demon," Curry said. "There've been some ornery things, but nothing I would consider a demon."

The Eckhart Encounters Interview - 'Phantoms and Monsters' Readers Edition

Benjamin Grundy and Aaron Wright of Mysterious Universe were kind enough to forward a special edited version of their interview with experiencer David Eckhart - The Eckhart Encounters Interview - Phantoms and Monsters Readers Edition. There are other interviews planned including recollections from David's family.

We are currently in the process of reviewing images of a 'worker' being that David captured (pictured) on video as well as other evidence that has recently become available. At one point, David was sending video and other evidence to his sister and father for safe keeping. He states that the alien beings were aware that he was attempting to tape the encounters and, on several occasions, they had searched for and seized material from David's home. I hope to begin examination of these tapes within the next few weeks.

David described these creatures as humanoid and somewhat similar to the Reptilians, though they are smaller in stature. Images of the head and part of the face of this particular 'worker' being were captured by a video camera that was positioned near a sofa...a location where David had witnessed these beings previously. Stay tuned...Lon

Ghost or Guise? Colbert County, Alabama EMA Office

Click for video

WHNT - Something eerie may be lurking in the Colbert County EMA office. On the surface, his office appears normal, but EMA Director Mike Melton is convinced that he may be sharing his office space with the paranormal.

"It appears that there's some type of dimension or something that a flash of the camera can pick up that we might not be able to see," said Melton.

That's because of a photo taken of Mike's office during it's renovation several years ago. The original image is covered in blurry white spots with faint outlines of human figures in the background. EMA employees agreed it looked peculiar.

John McWilliams, a local historian, enhanced the clarity of the image, revealing what appears to be a line of ghostly figures.

"When I saw it, I didn't realize it was a saloon scene," said McWilliams, of Tuscumbia. "I could just see the people. It was not until I started processing it that I saw that it was a saloon scene."

That prompted McWilliams to do a little homework on the building. After looking at old maps, he determined what's now the Colbert County EMA office was a saloon and bowling alley back in 1884.

"I have records here to find out what was in those buildings at that time during that period," said McWilliams. "The picture meets that criteria."

He said that explains why the figures appear to be waiting in line, while others appear to be perched at a bar.

Photos snapped at the EMA console reveal what appears to be three figures in the foreground, wearing microphone headsets. Mike suspects they once worked in the building.

"Evidently, we're sharing their space and they're not sharing ours," said Melton.

Photos taken since the construction work suggest there could still be some sort of supernatural activity in his office.

We wanted to check it out for ourselves, so we posed for the camera after our interview with Melton. John processed the image for us and revealed nine ghostly figures after enhancing the photo clarity.

Ghosts or not, Melton and other EMA employees aren't spooked.

"It is something to be lighthearted about," said Melton. "It's just an unknown, something creepy you can try to figure out and try to understand what it's about."

Melton and McWilliams both joke they know it sounds crazy, but can't help what they see.

Thanks to David for the 'heads up'

NOTE: I suppose that when you expect to find ghosts there is a very good chance your hope will be realized. As far as the 'enhancements', it's anyone's guess what was done. If there where that many spirits present in one place, I would expect a bit more activity...Lon

Millions of Frogs Shutdown Highway In Greece

THESSALONIKI, Greece — Greek officials say a horde of frogs has forced the closure of a key northern highway for two hours.

Thessaloniki traffic police chief Giorgos Thanoglou says "millions" of the amphibians covered the tarmac Wednesday near the town of Langadas, some 12 miles east of Thessaloniki.

"There was a carpet of frogs," he said.

Authorities closed the highway after three car drivers skidded off the road trying to dodge the frogs. No human injuries were reported.

Thanoglou said the amphibians probably left a nearby lake to look for food.

NOTE: Remember the frog migration previous to the major earthquake in Sichuan Province, China? Lon

Frog Migration: Omen to China Earthquake Disaster

On May 5, 2008, many Chinese locals noticed thousands of frogs on the move. They were seen traveling without fear of traffic as they crossed streets in mass floods.

Many Chinese sensed the migration as a bad omen of a coming natural disaster, but the Chinese government told them that it was just a natural migration for the purpose of propagation. This calmed the people and no one took the omen very seriously.

On Monday, 12th of May, at about 2:45pm, central China region recorded a 7.8-magnitude quake which occured near Wenchuan County, Sichuan province, that killed nearly 10,000 people.

Many civilian houses and roads were collapsed and damaged. In one Dujiangyan city middle school, 900 students and teachers were buried in the collapsed building, at least 50 were killed.

The quake was the largest the region has seen for over a generation. It was so strong, even countries like Thailand, Vietnam and Hong Kong felt the shake.

Many people are now calling the Chinese Earthquake Test Centers “useless”, as they were unable to even detect the earthquake before it happened. When they finally announced the earthquake had occurred, it was 12 minutes after the disaster, and 2 minutes after the US had announced a large earthquake in China.

As for the frogs and their omen, Chinese scientists stated animals have much better sense than human on detecting the natural disasters like this.

Are Those Brothers Still Arguing?

I received the following email from Heather this morning:

It's getting close to summer and we (living at our 1902 farmhouse) are expecting the brothers to start arguing again.

We moved into the house in July, 2007, but before we did, our new neighbors told us the place was haunted. The sellers did not disclose this information to us. I don't know if the "heavy" atmosphere in the house can be attributed to the warning or if it felt "funny" because of the big old empty spaces, but I went upstairs one day and said, in one of the bedrooms to no one in particular: "If there's anyone here, you are welcome to stay. Just no parlor tricks. You know, things levitating or apparitions popping up in the dead of night or behind you when you're looking at a mirror."

At first we heard voices, as if there was a family gathering. Then, the porch light going off, then coming back on. Then my husband reported a bag of homemade cookies fell off a shelf and into his lap, which would have taken some force since he was sitting a few feet away. A library book flying off the center island, which might have been knocked off from vibrations of us walking around it, though we haven't been able to reproduce it. There's been humming and more talking. And one night, while we were both trying to sleep, I was just about to say something about a woman talking when my husband asked, "Do you hear that? Sounds like a--"...."Female", I answered.

The next year my husband mentioned hearing two male voices outside, discussing business in an intense way. Our neighbors aren't close and they're not night owls, and my husband heard them mention doing something "after death." My daughter reported the same conversation.

It was last year when I heard the voices, apparently right outside the family room, where we keep our computer. I wasn't frightened, but was skeptical. A few nights later, I returned home after work. I work late into the evenings, so I returned about 2 am I heard two male voices yelling at each other. I couldn't make out what they were saying, and the first thing I thought was some kids were arguing. Outside. At 2 am in the morning. And none of my neighbors were disturbed by the sound of it as no lights popped on or police cars entered my drive.

With a cold chill I realized that these arguing men could be the same heard by my husband and daughter. I did not hesitate in getting into the house.

There could be a reasonable explanation. A sound arc. Two people arguing in the middle of the night, outside on a warm evening.

However, earlier this year, my husband went into the hardware store to get something to fix an old doorknob. In conversation with an elderly shopper, my husband mentioned the difficulty in finding the right items to fix something in an old house.

The man asked him some particulars, where he lived, how old the place is, etc. My husband told him....the man's reply gave me chills.

"I know the place," my husband reported to me. "Are those brothers still arguing?"

I'm hoping they will settle sometime soon.

Bigfoot Search - Lake Anna, Spotsylvania County, Virginia

fb.com - Hunting for the elusive Sasquatch is difficult enough, but rain makes it even harder.

Billy Willard, 41, the director of the Manassas-based Sasquatch Watch of Virginia, said the din of rain makes it impossible to hear anything else.

And the rain keeps animals--even Bigfoots--under shelter.

On Saturday, Willard and four other Sasquatch researchers were on 96 acres in the Lake Anna area, connected to 3,000 acres of mostly forests. Willard said there have been a lot of sightings in this region, especially in Culpeper County.

Ever since Roger Patterson and Robert Gimlin released the famous film of a Sasquatch in Bluff Creek, Calif., on Oct. 20, 1962, people have argued its validity and that of thousands of other sightings across the country.

In Spotsylvania County, a man, a woman and a teenager reported spotting what appeared to be a Sasquatch in May 2009. They were about 300 yards away before it ran--fast.

"When I say running, well, all I can explain is it looked like it was on ice skates," said the woman. She asked that her name and exact location not be revealed because too often ridicule follows those who say they've seen Bigfoot; she also wants to protect adjoining property owners.

"If he lives here, and I think he does, it is smarter than a dog and dogs are smart animals," said the man who also reported seeing the creature that day.

Don't even try telling them that it was a bear.

"I've been in the woods since I was 5 years old; I know what a bear looks like," the woman said.

Her suspicions rose again in January when she heard a crazy noise in the woods that sounded like recordings she has heard on Bigfoot Internet sites.

"To me, the sound of hearing this thing was scarier than seeing it," she said. "It started with a low rumble and ended in a high-pitch scream."

The woman said she found Willard's website and invited him to the property. He's come back a half-dozen times.

Last month, he directed a weeklong Bigfoot expedition at the Spotsylvania site with five separate research groups.

The group heard strange Bigfoot-like sounds and filmed with a night-vision camera something very tall with red eyes. Two other researchers reported something shook their Jeep. A footprint impression behind the vehicle was cast.

"The eyes on the videotape, that was pretty impressive," Willard said.

But last weekend, the rain caused problems and it stopped the hunt early. The group got there at about 4 p.m. Saturday and stayed past midnight.

The only discovery that day was what appeared to be a large footprint near a pond.

Researchers like Willard often do their work with little fanfare. The full-time environmental engineer does not get paid for his Bigfoot research. He often gets tips and invitations through his website. He has been to at least nine states and has returned with plaster casts of a few different footprints.

His most frightening experience was in Paris, Texas, in 2007. The experience was so surreal that Willard thought it was a nightmare. He felt something grab him and he tussled with the creature for a few minutes while in his tent.

"I could feel nothing but thick hair on whatever this was," he said. "My hand didn't fit around the limb and I balled up my fist and hit it."

Not much high-tech equipment is necessary for expeditions. Researchers use night-vision game cameras and goggles and PA systems to broadcast Bigfoot calls and babies crying, which apparently creates a lot of action in the forest when played. There is also a lot of waiting, which leads to researchers sharing stories over a campfire about favorite trips, that often end up fruitless.

But not finding any evidence has little effect on their hope that someday one of them might get the evidence needed to prove Bigfoot does exist.

"There's no certification for this except a mental institution and an empty checkbook," Willard joked.

New Wiltshire Crop Circle May Represent Complex Mathematical Theorem

dailymail - An extraordinary crop circle based on the 'world's most beautiful maths theorem' has appeared in a field next to a windmill in Wiltshire.

The complex disc, which measures 300ft across, appeared to the east of Wilton Windmill near Marlborough in a blazing yellow rape seed field.

It appeared on Saturday just 25miles from another circle that popped up a fortnight ago by the Iron Age hill fort of Old Sarum.

Lucy Pringle, a renowned crop circle researcher was puzzled by what appears to be a hidden code based on complex numbers within the shape.

She said: 'I believe it contains binary, a numeral system, or base-2 number system that represents numeric values using two symbols, 0 and 1.

'Working from the centre outwards, people are suggesting it has a connection to Leonhard Euler's theorem e^(i)pi+1=0 which is thought to be one of the most beautiful theorems in mathematics.'

She added that it could even contain a hidden tune.

'Historically over the years, crop circles have been associated with diatonic scales (white notes on the piano),' she said.

'These diatonic scale frequencies are encoded in each segment of the crop circle and can be played on the piano.

'This is a unique formation incorporating both music and mathematics and is similar in importance to the famous 2008 Barbury Castle Pi event.'

Another crop circle expert said everyone can draw their own conclusions from the circles, adding: 'The thing about maths and the circles is that you are dealing with something which isn't an exact science so one person may decode the circles as having diatonic ratios, the other may find meaning in binary numbers or astrological cycles.

There is speculation that the circle represents Leonhard Euler's complex theorem e^(i)pi+1=0

'The only possible explanation which covers all areas would be humans, however this can only be a problematic relationship shared by creaters and researchers since the [UFO] researchers hate the idea that a sense of wonder and optimism is quoshed by the admittance of human involvement.'

Carved out in a barley field, the Barbury Castle crop circle was a pictorial representation of the first ten digits of Pi, one of the most fundamental symbols in mathematics. The image was an example of what is known as a fractal, or geometric pattern.

It was solved by astrophysicist Mike Reed who saw a picture of the crop circle and made the mathematical link.

Crop circle designs have developed from simple circles in the 1970s to pictorial designs in the late 1980s and binary number designers from 2001.

'Amityville Horror' House For Sale

newsday - The real estate listing for the house that went on the market Monday at 108 Ocean Ave. refers to it as a "legendary home," but most people would know the sideways Dutch Colonial on the canal as the so-called Amityville Horror house.

Listed for $1.15 million, the picturesque and pristine home looks very different from the home where Ronald DeFeo Jr. murdered six family members as they slept in 1974. The 28 supposedly haunted days in the house experienced by subsequent owners George and Kathleen Lutz spawned the 1977 bestselling Jay Anson book "The Amityville Horror: A True Story" and a series of scary movies about alleged supernatural happenings at the house starting in 1979.

Even the address is different. Previous owners James and Barbara Cromarty, who own the Riverhead Raceway, said they had it changed from 112 Ocean Ave. to protect their privacy.

James Cromarty, 77, bought the house in 1977. By that point, a bank had foreclosed on the house from the Lutzes, who have since died. DeFeo is at the upstate Green Haven Correctional Facility, serving 25 years to life for the murders.

"Nothing weird ever happened, except for people coming by because of the book and the movie," said Cromarty, who lived a decade in the house.

He and his wife, Barbara, sold the house in 1987 to Peter and Jeanne O'Neill. Reached Monday, Jeanne O'Neill said, "I loved it. It was a beautiful home." They sold the house in 1997 for $310,000 to the current owner, which records identify as Brian Wilson.

"It's one of the more beautifully redone houses in the neighborhood," said listing agent Laura Zambratto of Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty.

Jerry O'Neill of Coldwell Banker Harbor Light, who has been selling Amityville real estate for 38 years and whose brother, Peter, used to own the house, said he thinks the price is fair. "It's a gorgeous, big center hall Colonial with a finished basement," said O'Neill, with "nothing spooky about it." Neighbors said that there are occasional gawkers, mostly on Halloween.

It's not the only notorious Long Island house on the market. Recently, the East Meadow expanded ranch where serial killer Joel Rifkin used to live, sometimes bringing victims back to the house, was listed for $424,500.

AMITYVILLE HORROR: THE REAL STORY

Ronald DeFeo, Jr. and his siblings

Thousands of sightseers flock to the small, quiet town of Amityville, Long Island each year in search of demons and ghosts. Its rich history and beauty are overshadowed by the story of George and Kathy Lutz, the previous residents of 112 Ocean Avenue, who claimed that shortly after moving into the house they “fled in terror,” driven out by paranormal activity. The best selling novel and popular movie have marked the town as the site of the most famous haunted house in history, yet many are unaware that the true history of this house is much darker than “The Amityville Horror’s” icy drafts and bleeding walls. Six members of the DeFeo family were murdered at 112 Ocean Avenue one year before the Lutz family moved in and their tragedy haunts the citizens of Amityville to this day.

In June of 1965, a man by the name of Ronald DeFeo Sr. purchased the 2 ½ story Dutch Colonial home at 112 Ocean Avenue, equipped with a boathouse on the Amityville River and plenty of rooms for his wife and four children. It seemed like the American dream: beautiful house, happy family, and money to spare. DeFeo even placed a sign in the front yard that read “High Hopes” as a symbol of the family’s good fortune. But there is a much darker side to this fairy tale, for his oldest son Ronald DeFeo Jr. wasn’t so content. His temper was as hot as his father’s was, and when he reached adolescence they often succumbed to fist fighting matches. By the age of 17 Ronald, or “Butch” as he was called by his friends, was using serious drugs and dabbling in petty thievery. Even though he was well taken care of by his family - landing a “cush” job at his grandfather’s car dealership where he received a weekly allowance whether he showed up to work or not - Butch was growing more angry and resentful with his father’s supposedly stingy ways. He planned a fake robbery with a friend while he was on the way to the bank to deposit $20,000 from the dealership, splitting the “stolen” cash with his friend. When Ronald Sr. exposed his sham, Butch wanted revenge.

It has been reported that in the early morning hours of November 13, 1974, Butch left the second floor TV room and grabbed his .35 Marlin Rifle. While his parents and four younger brothers and sisters were sleeping he methodically shot and killed each one of them. He entered his parent’s bedroom first, instantly killing his father Ronald DeFeo with two shots to the lower back. His mother Louise was awakened by the gunfire but before she had a chance to react Butch proceeded to fire two bullets into her chest. Since the bodies of his four younger brothers and sisters were all found in their beds, it appeared that they were not awakened by the shots. His two younger brothers, John and Mark, were his next victims. Standing between their beds in the room the two young boys shared, he fired one shot at close range into each of their bodies. Finally, he entered the room of his sisters Dawn and Allison. Dawn was the closest in age to Butch, and Allison was in grade school with John and Mark. Butch did not hesitate when he fired two shots into their heads, killing them instantly. The police reported that all six victims were found on their stomachs with their heads resting on their arms.

Butch tried to point the blame on a Mafia hit man whom he claimed had a vendetta against him, but the detectives grew suspicious when they found an empty gun box in his bedroom that matched the murder weapon. His story fell apart and after hours of interrogation. “It all started so fast. Once I started, I just couldn’t stop. It went so fast,” he confessed. When asked during his trial why he had done such a thing Butch replied, “As far as I’m concerned, if I didn’t kill my family, they were going to kill me. And as far as I’m concerned, what I did was self-defense and there was nothing wrong with it. When I got a gun in my hand, there’s no doubt in my mind who I am. I am God.”

Even though Butch was found guilty of six counts of second-degree murder, many questions still remain about what really happened on that tragic night in November. Why didn’t the children run after hearing the first shots? Why were the victims all found lying on their stomachs? Were they told to stay in bed by someone they knew? Why didn’t the neighbors hear the shots? Speculations surfaced that the DeFeo family was drugged at dinner, yet autopsies discredited this theory. The police believed that the house muffled the sound of the shots, however, many people who have been in the house reported that street noise could be heard from inside. According to gun experts, the sound of a .35 Marlin Rifle can be heard from a mile away, yet neighbors claim that the only sound they heard was the barking of the DeFeo family dog. To this day Butch continues to change his story. Being a habitual liar, it is still unclear what role he played in the murders and whether he acted alone. For many, the truth remains to be told and investigations are in progress that may shed light on the validity of his story.

Butch DeFeo, 58, is currently serving six consecutive life sentences at Greenhaven Penitentiary in Stormville, New York. The parole board has rejected all of his requests for parole since 1999.

Families have lived happily in the Amityville house (its address now changed to deter the flocks of curious sightseers) since the Lutzes moved out without being bothered by a single demon or ghost. The citizens of Amityville often tell tourists that the house has been torn down, frustrated that a ghost story has overshadowed a tragedy – the brutal murders of six members of the DeFeo family, the true horror of Amityville.

Tokyo's Tropical Fish Dilemma in 'Tamazon River'

mainichi - Foreign species of fish including angelfish and piranhas are being found in large numbers in the Tama River between Tokyo and Kanagawa prefectures, resulting in some dubbing it the "Tamazon River" after South America's Amazon.

People are apparently releasing fish that have become too difficult to look after into the river, and the fish are surviving winter near water treatment areas, where the water temperature is higher.

To combat the problem of foreign species of fish being dumped in the river, local residents have set up a drop-off area for unwanted fish. Mitsuaki Yamasaki, 51, the head of a local river fish association, established the "fish postbox" in part of the association's fish preserve in Inada Park, Kawasaki, in 2005.

The "postbox" measures 7 meters by 4 meters. Reaching his hand into a container, Yamasaki pulls out a long-nosed fish measuring about 1 meter, which thrashes against the surface of the water. It is a longnose garpike. One longnose garpike was caught in a net in February, and another one was left by a visitor. The fish's sharp teeth can easily bite through a nylon net.

"The Tama River is like a department store for foreign species of fish. People sometimes called it the 'Tamazon,' after the Amazon River," Yamasaki says.

During Japan's period of rapid growth, home wastewater was discharged directly into the Tama River, polluting it. After water treatment facilities were set up, the quality of the water improved, and from about 10 years ago, sweetfish have been observed making their way upstream. At the same time, tropical fish and other foreign species have also been spotted in the river. Most treated water in the river was originally warm water discharged from homes, and it has raised the river's overall temperature.

Yamasaki has caught some 200 species of foreign fish in the Tama River, ranging from typical aquarium fish such as guppies and angelfish to piranhas and arowanas. Some of them have bred, and it is believed they pass the winter near water treatment facilities, where the water is warmer.

The fish postbox at Inada Park receives about 10,000 fish a year. Yamasaki temporarily looks after fish at his home, then has postbox members or schools take care of them.

Still, cases of people releasing fish into the river continue. A pair of garpikes was spotted swimming in the river and sweetfish were found inside them. Diseases that had been rare in Japan are also being detected.

"I'm worried that gars will start breeding in large numbers," Yamasaki says.

In the Machiya district of Tokyo's Arakawa Ward stands Tropiland, one of the biggest shops for aquarium fish in Tokyo with several hundred varieties imported from all over the world. Inside one tank at the shop is a pair of alligator garpikes priced at 1,980 yen. Now the fish are only about 10 centimeters long, but a label warns that they will get bigger: "These fish easily grow larger than one meter, so please allow room for them and keep them in a large tank," the sign says.

A 35-year-old worker says the store tells customers that some fish are difficult to keep, but he adds that customers often don't have a strong sense of responsibility.

"Many people think of the fish as part of their home interior or as accessories. They're like paintings," he says, shrugging.

So what happens when people give up on keeping their fish? People with experience in the business say that some are flushed down the toilet, and others are thrown out with raw garbage, but some owners secretly release them into rivers.

But this is not always the case. Around 7 p.m. on May 8, Yamasaki's mobile phone rings.

"I've got a fish I can't look after any more -- can you take it?" the caller asks. About three hours later, Yamasaki arrives at a station in Kawasaki to meet the caller. The young man, who looks like a student, is carrying a polystyrene box. Inside is a foreign species of catfish measuring about 30 centimeters in length.

"My fish tank is too small for it, and I have to move to a new place," he says, his voice trailing off.

"Don't worry," Yamasaki says in a friendly tone, as tears well up in the owner's eyes.

Yamasaki says that recently, more people are using the fish postbox in Kawasaki after being forced to move homes amid harsh economic conditions that sometimes are accompanied by lay-offs.

"Even though people might be feeling sorry for their pets, releasing them into the river is an example of ignorant good intentions," Yamasaki says. The 51-year-old played in the Tama River as a child, and is happy to see sweetfish swimming upstream again.

The fish drop-off spot is free to use, but tropical fish can die if they are dropped straight in, so Yamasaki advises people to phone in advance.

A boom in tropical fish was seen in Japan in the 1990s, and interest was sparked further by the 2003 hit animation "Finding Nemo." Recently children have started buying tropical fish with money they traditionally receive at New Year's, say workers in the industry.

The Japan Aquarium Fish Association started accepting discarded fish in 2007, but it has not received full cooperation from fish retailers. And since commercial aquarium fish are not designated as "invasive alien species" which can damage the environment, there are no legal restrictions on keeping them or releasing them. The Ministry of the Environment has not conducted surveys on aquarium fish in rivers on the grounds that there have been "hardly any reports of actual harm" caused by the fish.

Takashi Maruyama, an assistant professor at Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology who is familiar with the issue, criticizes the release of such fish.

"Keeping fish requires ethical responsibility, but now people who never before had any interest in living things have joined the aquarium fish boom," he says. "Releasing such fish is just a way of evading reality."

Maruyama says a system is needed to improve the situation.

"There is no binding power in the work companies are doing to collect such fish, and the system isn't working. We need to establish a system with cooperation from administrative bodies."

D.B. COOPER MYSTERIOUS REAL IDENTITY GETTING CLOSER

Spiral Anomaly Reported Over British Columbia - UPDATE!

Click for video

theweatherspace - The Norway spiral comes to mind when TheWeatherSpace.com received photographs and even an amazing video of the event. An object swooped down from the sky and then returned in a brilliant display on Friday night across the Western Canada areas.

Three different photographers have given their photos to TheWeatherSpace.com in what looks like something out of a science fiction movie. We cannot see what would cause this one Earth. The Norway spiral was said to be caused by a missile launch in the Russian territory. But what is this?

The only known areas to launch on the Western coast are the Vandenberg Air Force Base and Alaskan areas. Vandenberg confirms no launches and Kodiak Island has to be ruled out due to the direction of travel (from the west).

The photographs show a very similar shape and mysterious object off the coast of Canada. The object is not a missile as one photograph from the beach has the trajectory curving up! What is it?

A video was sent to TheWeatherSpace.com and the web team has added it to the video server on YouTube.com. The video shows the entire sequence of this object as filmed by Steven Murray.

"I have four sky cameras to catch meteors on and number three caught it", Murray said. "I saw it from my office while doing work. The object was on the monitor. By the time I rushed outside the object was gone but the loudest boom I ever heard from a distance struck shortly after."

Update: Numerous e-mail has been received with various photos of the same event. On Friday night, something over the coast of Western Canada lit up the sky, lasting for less than a minute.

Reports are coming in from the area with photos and videos. Two videos have surfaced, however these videos look like an attempt to either do away with the story from the original photos or they could be the real deal.

Many have said it is a hoax and it very well could be, some things on the photos vs. the videos do not add up and scream one of those is a fake.

A new video has come in. This short clip has been edited by Nathan Varney of B.C. Canada. Varney says he saw the object and picked up his camera and zoomed in on it to get the recording. He states that the objected swooped down and then exploded. To the unaided eye he said the object vanished in a brilliant array of patterns but on Camera the object was seen going through a "tunnel", pointed on the leading end as if zooming out of the atmosphere away from the planet.

TheWeatherSpace.com owner Kevin Adams is investigating into who are sending the material and if a resolution to this can be found.

NOTE: Well, I contacted two associates (one in Manitoba and another in British Columbia) today to find out what the story is on these sightings. Apparently, there was a lot of activity over several provinces this past weekend. There were several reports of silver orbs over Manitoba as well as Alberta. As to the validity of the 'spiral' UFO and the video, that's still very much up in the air. The video looks like a fake IMO. But, there was a good deal of UFO activity nonetheless...so we'll have to wait and see what develops...Lon

Spiral Anomaly Reported Over British Columbia

UPDATE! Well, as I suspected...this was a hoax. A statement follows:

Betty Morgan Fired From TheWeatherSpace For Hoax Story

Betty Morgan

A hoax designed by a Southern California resident made a circle around the internet for a couple of days. The hoax of a UFO zooming out of the solar system at a high rate of speed. Had the video been real it would have been the best footage caught, however it was not.

Betty Morgan was TheWeatherSpace.com's Space News Editor on the story. She printed the story for what looked like an easy campaign for her column. Kevin Adams, owner of TheWeatherSpace.com, gave her a week notice.

"We simply do not accept stories to be posted on this site without looking over the material with managers", said Adams in a company e-mail.

The hoax, staged by Kevin Martin of Southern California, was only taken seriously by Morgan. When asked for a comment on the story Morgan had nothing to say.

"We are going to get back to real news reporting", Adams closed. "TheWeatherSpace.com was designed for actual facts about the topics on the top bar of the Web site. We will fill Morgan's position with the right candidate over the next week."

EUTimes: 'U.S. Orders Blackout Over North Korean Torpedoing Of Gulf Of Mexico Oil Rig'

eutimes - A grim report circulating in the Kremlin today written by Russia’s Northern Fleet is reporting that the United States has ordered a complete media blackout over North Korea’s torpedoing of the giant Deepwater Horizon oil platform owned by the World’s largest offshore drilling contractor Transocean that was built and financed by South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd., that has caused great loss of life, untold billions in economic damage to the South Korean economy, and an environmental catastrophe to the United States.

Most important to understand about this latest attack by North Korea against its South Korean enemy is that under the existing “laws of war” it was a permissible action as they remain in a state of war against each other due to South Korea’s refusal to sign the 1953 Armistice ending the Korean War.

To the attack itself, these reports continue, the North Korean “cargo vessel” Dai Hong Dan believed to be staffed by 17th Sniper Corps “suicide” troops left Cuba’s Empresa Terminales Mambisas de La Habana (Port of Havana) on April 18th whereupon it “severely deviated” from its intended course for Venezuela’s Puerto Cabello bringing it to within 209 kilometers (130 miles) of the Deepwater Horizon oil platform which was located 80 kilometers (50 miles) off the coast of the US State of Louisiana where it launched an SSC Sang-o Class Mini Submarine (Yugo class) estimated to have an operational range of 321 kilometers (200 miles).

On the night of April 20th the North Korean Mini Submarine manned by these “suicidal” 17th Sniper Corps soldiers attacked the Deepwater Horizon with what are believed to be 2 incendiary torpedoes causing a massive explosion and resulting in 11 workers on this giant oil rig being killed outright. Barely 48 hours later, on April 22nd , this North Korean Mini Submarine committed its final atrocity by exploding itself directly beneath the Deepwater Horizon causing this $1 Billion oil rig to sink beneath the seas and marking 2010’s celebration of Earth Day with one of the largest environmental catastrophes our World has ever seen.

To the reason for North Korea attacking the Deepwater Horizon, these reports say, was to present US President Obama with an “impossible dilemma” prior to the opening of the United Nations Review Conference of the Parties to the Treat on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) set to begin May 3rd in New York.

This “impossible dilemma” facing Obama is indeed real as the decision he is faced with is either to allow the continuation of this massive oil leak catastrophe to continue for months, or immediately stop it by the only known and proven means possible, the detonation of a thermonuclear device.

Russian Navy atomic experts in these reports state that should Obama choose the “nuclear option” the most viable weapon at his disposal is the United States B83 (Mk-83) strategic thermonuclear bomb having a variable yield (Low Kiloton Range to 1,200 Kilotons) which with its 12 foot length and 18 inch diameter, and weighing just over 2,400 pounds, is readily able to be deployed and detonated by a remote controlled mini-sub.

Should Obama choose the “nuclear option” it appears that he would be supported by the International Court of Justice who on July 8, 1996 issued an advisory opinion on the use of nuclear weapons stating that they could not conclude definitively on these weapons use in “extreme circumstances” or “self defense”.

On the other hand, if Obama chooses the “nuclear option” it would leave the UN’s nuclear conference in shambles with every Nation in the World having oil rigs off their coasts demanding an equal right to atomic weapons to protect their environment from catastrophes too, including Iran.

To whatever decision Obama makes it remains a fact that with each passing hour this environmental catastrophe grows worse. And even though Obama has ordered military SWAT teams to protect other oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico from any further attack, and further ordered that all drilling in the Gulf of Mexico be immediately stopped, this massive oil spill has already reached the shores of America and with high waves and more bad weather forecast the likelihood of it being stopped from destroying thousands of miles of US coastland and wildlife appears unstoppable.

And not just to the environmental catastrophe that is unfolding the only devastation to be wrecked upon the United States and South Korea by this North Korean attack as the economic liabilities associated with this disaster are estimated by these Russian reports to be between $500 Billion to $1.5 Trillion, and which only a declaration of this disaster being an “act of war” would free some the World’s largest corporations from bankruptcy.

Important to note too in all of these events was that this was the second attack by North Korea on its South Korean enemy, and US ally, in a month as we had reported on in our March 28th report titled “Obama Orders ‘Immediate Stand-down’ After Deadly North Korean Attack” and which to date neither the Americans or South Korea have retaliated for and giving one senior North Korean party leader the courage to openly state that the North Korean military took “gratifying revenge” on South Korea.

And for those believing that things couldn’t get worse, they couldn’t be more mistaken as new reports coming from Japanese military sources are stating that North Korea is preparing for new launches of its 1,300 kilometer (807 miles) intermediate range ballistic “Rodong” missile which Russian Space Forces experts state is able to “deploy and detonate” an atomic electromagnetic pulse (EMP) device, and which if detonated high in the atmosphere could effectively destroy the American economy for years, if not decades, to come.

NOTE: these conspiracy theories coming from Europe are really 'out there'. I'm not buying this one, though it is an interesting read...Lon

Dangerously 'Wobbling' Saratov Bridge Closed Down

Click for video

A seven-kilometre-long bridge over the Volga River has been closed after the structure started to wobble.

The bridge in Volgograd, southern Russia was built last year at a cost of £55m, and opened in October 2009.

Several people were traveling across the bridge in cars when it started moving, but there were no injuries reported.

It was closed last night, and remained shut this morning as emergency services looked to see if there had been further structural damage.

Engineers were examining whether strong river currents caused by melting snow upstream had loosened one of the bridge's vertical supports.

Its closure is a blow to drivers and inhabitants of Volgograd, a large industrial city.

The nearest bridge is a hundred kilometres away and the only alternative is a ferry.

The Eckhart Encounters - Reptilian Emerging From Portal

Over the past year, I have released photographic and anecdotal evidence from David Eckhart in reference to his continued encounters with alien beings in his home and during abductions. Here are the links to the more recent releases: The Eckhart Encounters - New Evidence and The Eckhart Encounters - Further Evidence.

Back in October 2009, I posted a few photos of a 'stargate' or portal from which these beings were entering David's bedroom. This portal would develop in front of his television Alien Home Invasion Update: 'Stargate' Appears. The following photograph is a capture of a full bodied reptilian being coming through a portal from the far wall of David's bedroom (left of the television and dresser). This capture is actually 1/30 of one second of video and was only recently detected from his many videos while transferring to DVD. The emergence occurred so quickly that David had not noticed the being (he and his wife were in bed and awake). I estimate that the being was close to 7 ft. in height which is similar to David's descriptions of the reptilians he has had contact with.

NOTE: David was recently interviewed by my friends Benjamin Grundy & Aaron Wright at 'Mysterious Universe' for a future podcast. I'm not sure if it will be part of the regular broadcast or the Plus+ edition. I've been told it's an amazing interview. Please refer to the 'Mysterious Universe' website for further information...don't miss it! Lon
