'Large Bird' Sighting - Pinchot Lake, PA

This morning I received a telephone call from a young man name Bill who lives near Dillsburg, PA. He had second-hand information concerning a 'weird large bird' that was seen flying near the Pinchot Lake dam. He stated that the sighting was made Sunday July 26th around 8:45 PM while the witness was on Conley Rd. The witness is a York County employee who is Bill's relative through marriage.

The 'bird' was flying south toward Alpine Rd. about 150 ft above the ground. The witness observed the cryptid for approximately 15 seconds. He estimated that the total body length was 5-6 ft. with a very wide wing span. The wings were described as 'bat-like' and there was a distinctive oval-shaped head. He also stated that it seemed to glide as opposed to it's wings flapping. The features and overall color was dark.

Bill also told me that he had heard of a large bird sighting at the same State Park (Gifford Pinchot SP) several years ago. That is the extent of the information that he could provide to me.

I asked Bill to try and convince the witness to contact me...but that seems to be a long shot in light of the situation. The witness is apparently quite shaken by the sighting and only disclosed his experience to Bill after some prodding.

As to what this cryptid was is anybody's guess...though I will say that the Pinchot Lake dam is about a 1/4 mile north of Conewago Creek. I'm not saying that this was another Conewago Phantom sighting, but the location is interesting.

I looked through my archives / media reports and failed to find any similar beings and encounters at the location. Any information that can be provided would be appreciated. Lon
