Phantoms and Monsters: Pulse of the Paranormal

This week we welcome documentary filmmaker Christopher Maloney and the 'Paranormal Pastor' Rev. Robin Swope to 'Beyond The Edge Radio'

Christopher Maloney is an independent documentary filmmaker whose top priority is truth. This is what prompted him to enroll in the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, having grown up outside of nearby Cincinnati. After little more than a year, during which time he directed several stage productions for a local theatre company, Christopher left Scripps and moved to New York, where he decided to focus his attention on getting an education in Film Production at Sarah Lawrence College and the New York Film Academy.

After film school, he tackled the life and death of the performance artist Andy Kaufman in his award-winning documentary video Kaufman, Andy - The Death Of Andy Kaufman which went on to secure DVD distribution and play at The Two Boots Pioneer Theater in New York’s Lower East Side.

Following the response to The Death of Andy Kaufman, Christopher relocated just outside of Boston and helmed an independent documentary video on the American Shakers called Come, Thou Fount: Thoughts on the Shakers This included an exceptionally rare interview with the only three remaining Shakers on earth, who granted him complete access to their community for the purpose of the project. This project premiered at the S.N.O.B. Film Festival and played on regional television in the Boston area.

Christopher has since focused his efforts on a documentary project called Cryptotrip, which explores the identity of cryptozoology in the United States. He lives in a farmhouse in Northern Kentucky with his wife and daughter.

Rev. Robin Swope is a Writer and has been a Christian Minister for more than 20 years in both Mainline and Evangelical Denominations. He holds a B.A. in Biblical Literature from Nyack College and a Masters of Divinity in Pastoral Ministry with an emphasis on Pastoral Counseling from Alliance Theological Seminary. He has served as a Missionary to Burkina Faso, and has ministered to the homeless in New York City's Hell's Kitchen. He is currently the Pastor of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Erie, Pennsylvania. He is also a freelance journalist for Examiner.com, has a column in the Tri-State Senior News and has also written for Fate Magazine. Rev.
