Lake Havasu, AZ: ok, well I've never spoke of this outside my family. But this has haunted me for years. I cannot explain what I saw, because for years I have listened to other reports and have never heard of any other experience like I had. First of all, I am an above average intelligent person, with common sense and problem solving skills. But I still cannot reconcile what i saw.
I lived in Lake Havasu, AZ 93-94. what i went thru caused me to pack up my entire house and leave overnite, and move an entire state away. At first I tried to talk about it to others, but after much ridicule, I stopped and kept it to myself.
But now, for some reason, my senses are begging me to reach out. In fact I am so frightned of what I experienced that I only mention the high points of my experience to see if anyone has had anything similar.
so, for my own piece of mind I"ll give this one last try:
Just for the record the security officer at my work put in his official nightly report an ufo experience for the same night. It was not like mine. My experience happened over my home. also more to this, not willing to put here. my daughter was only 3 at the time.
Dusk, vacuum of silence, cloaked, immense, capital letter I, slow moving, low orbit(maybe 40 stories) lit from within 4 half globes each side just inside of the ends. things were milling around inside. The embryonic, electrical smell.
2 weeks later. came home to look thru my front window to see someone or something (dark figure) running out the back kitchen door. packed up that night and moved out of state the next morning.
since then, I feel watched. a spooky kinda feeling. night terrors and sweats, and still to his day experience the strangest things. almost what some would call a haunting. oh I just want to put this to bed. if anyone out there has had anything like this happen to them, i just need validation. thx - MUFON CMS
Illinois - unedited: Like any other morning ritual opened the living room window blinds for daylight. Found mysterious and unusually large white imprint. An eerie feeling I felt immediately. Such a large wing suggesting a wingspan around 6-8 feet. Large body imprint and ratio to wingspan. That path of observation concluded with an unnerving reaction to its head. It looked evil and demonic. The pointed ears. Its eyes. If it wasn't for what I am about to say next I would have never taken this investigation this far.
My eyes are seeing what looks like "teeth"!! Yes teeth!!!
Wishing to document this I took digital camera shots from different interior angles for better definition. Instinctively I then got the outside water hose to erase it. Found no feathers below elevated PW.
Then took camera sim card to a major TV store. Wanted the best LCD resolution for enhancement and largest TV size for scale to my 72" X 60" picture window. Technician implemented and confirmation was made of teeth. Moreso fellow workers where shocked by its evil and demonic look too. This is my UFO and it desperately needs identification especially when the viewing audience all agrees.
Please notice that the different camera angles somehow give a different look to the static image. Almost holographic.
Incidentally I told my story to the neighbor. He too had an encounter. Briefly saw it and heard its large flapping wings. Quickly ran inside and prayed with his Mexican wife. The catholic cemetery borders both our backyards. Asked church for blessing but they declined. Went the opposite to a psychic and she said "a sleeper demon" entered the house. - MUFON CMS - NOTE: Image file was compromised
Woman dies after injecting hot beef fat into her face
A Homewood woman died Thursday shortly after injecting heated beef fat into her face, but the injection did not cause her death, authorities said.
An autopsy Friday determined that 63-year-old Janet Hardt died of peritonitis, a severe abdominal inflammation caused by a bacterial infection, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Infections in her face from the injections did not lead to her death, which was ruled natural, officials with the medical examiner’s office said.
Family members told authorities Hardt had undergone multiple cosmetic surgeries to her face and neck. A short time before she died, she injected the heated beef fat into her face around her mouth and chin. Authorities said she apparently performed the procedure on several occasions in an attempt to simulate Botox, which reduces wrinkling.
Hardt had infections in her mouth and lip as well as scarring from the injections, sources said.
On Thursday, Hardt went to the hospital after complaining that her face felt like it was burning, sources said. - suntimes
Man asks neighbor for permission to dump body in trash can
Tacoma police say a man suspected of dumping a body in a trash can asked his neighbors for permission before placing the corpse in the receptacle.
Police spokesman officer Mark Fulghum says after the 20-year-old suspect talked to his neighbors, they went to the trash can in the 500 block of East 36th Street and saw the victim's body. Fulghum says the couple left the area, spotted two gang unit officers nearby and told them about the body and their neighbor's request to use the trash can to dispose of it. As the officers were investigating, the suspect walked out of a nearby residence and was taken into custody.
A woman who asked KIRO 7 not to use her name or show her face out of fear of repercussions said her next-door neighbor came to her home and asked her to help him dispose of a body.
"(He asked) if we would help him, that he just killed somebody and there was a dead body in his house, and if we would help him dispose of the body in the trash can in the alley," she said. "He was really calm and laughing about it, so we thought it was a joke at first."
The woman said her friend found the body in her trash can a short time later, when she said the suspect opened the lid as she was waiting to put some garbage inside.
"He lifted the lid and that's when she saw the body in there," the woman said of her friend. "(He said) 'What do you think of this?' I think it's absolutely bizarre."
Fulghum says the suspect admitted putting the dead man in the trash can, but has given three or four different versions about what happened.
"He's given a few different variations of what took place," Fulghum said. "So right now, we've got to sort out those and match the evidence and get the true story."
The Pierce County medical examiner is performing an autopsy Thursday to determine the cause of death. Fulghum says the victim's identification has not been confirmed yet.
The suspect has been booked into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of murder. He's expected to make his first court appearance Friday afternoon. - kirotv
'Vampire' woman attacks elderly man in Florida
A Florida woman who allegedly claimed to be a vampire has been charged with battery after violently biting a man in a wheelchair on his face and arms, police said on Friday.
Milton Ellis, 69, told police in St. Petersburg, Florida, that he and Josephine Smith, 22, met on the street and went to the porch of a vacant restaurant to get out of the rain. He said he fell asleep in his motorized wheelchair and woke up to find Smith on top of him.
Ellis told authorities that she said, "I'm a vampire. I am going to eat you" and then began to bite him.
According to a police affidavit, Ellis was bitten on his arm and lips, leaving him bloody before he was able to escape and call police. He was later treated with stitches at a local hospital and released.
After arriving at the scene, police said they found Smith bloody and half-naked nearby, but that she had no memory of what happened and did not identify herself as a vampire, St. Petersburg Police spokesman Mike Puetz said.
Smith, who was arrested early on Thursday, is currently being held in detention with bail set at $50,000 - Yahoo
Shapeshifting UFO reported over Jackson, NJ
Object seen while traveling west on highway 195, east of exit 22 over a housing development named the Plantation. It was a grey day with possible rain but the ceiling was high with no visible clouds. The object was noticed first by my father and myself. It looked like a classic diamond shaped kite black in color but a very very high altitude. We knew there wasn't an open area large enough to fly a kite so high except maybe this new housing development. So being curious and objectively scientific with an explanation as to where this could be from. My father exited the highway which was our turnoff to go home anyway. At this time the rest of my family in our vehicle were watching the object. My mother, sister, brother, aunt and cousin were present. The housing development turned out to be empty and not open enough to fly a kite. We stopped to watch and try to figure out where this apparent kite was being flown from. While watching, the object started to move around almost instantly from point to point. It was very very fast. The distance of travel was at least a hundred yards in any given direction with no clear path. Each movement was within a several hundred yard radius. This lasted a minute or two then its altitude dropped by about half and the object started to change shape. It changed several times into several different shapes while continuing to move around in the same radius. Shapes were the kite diamond then triangle, square and rectangle. After shape changing for a few minutes, it stopped and multiplied into three objects and proceeded to move around again with the three objects in unison and pattern. Shape change happened again into same shape patterns remaining in unison with movement and type of shape changing. After several more minutes it stopped and absorbed back into one object which kept the triangular shape. It now moved very high up and seemed to disappear from everyones sight except for my mothers. For the next 30 seconds she was the only one who could see the object. It then disappeared from her sight and my cousin was now the only one who could see the object. After about 30 seconds it completely disappeared from his sight and never reappeared. This event has to be the only thing that my father or my brother and I have not been able to scientifically explain or dismiss. I myself have suffered no effects psychologicaly or otherwise and neither has anyone who witnessed the object except for my cousin. Several years after the event he denied ever seeing or being present when it happened and still denies it to this day.
Ten years after al Qaeda's attack on the United States, the vast majority of the 9/11 Commission's investigative records remain sealed at the National Archives in Washington, even though the commission had directed the archives to make most of the material public in 2009, Reuters has learned.
The National Archives' failure to release the material presents a hurdle for historians and others seeking to plumb one of the most dramatic events in modern American history.
The 575 cubic feet of records were in large part the basis for the commission's public report, issued July 22, 2004. The commission, formally known as the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, was established by Congress in late 2002 to investigate the events leading up to the 9/11 attacks, the pre-attack effectiveness of intelligence agencies and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the government's emergency response.
In a Reuters interview this week, Matt Fulgham, assistant director of the archives' center for legislative affairs which has oversight of the commission documents, said that more than a third of the material has been reviewed for possible release. But many of those documents have been withheld or heavily redacted, and the released material includes documents that already were in the public domain, such as press articles.
Commission items still not public include a 30-page summary of an April 29, 2004 interview by all 10 commissioners with President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, conducted in the White House's Oval Office. This was the only time the two were formally questioned about the events surrounding the attacks. The information could shed light on public accounts the two men have given in recent weeks of their actions around the time of the attacks.
Several former commission staff members said that because there is no comprehensive effort to unseal the remaining material, portions of the records the commission had hoped would be available by now to scholars and the public instead will remain sealed indefinitely.
In 2004 Commission Chairman Thomas Kean said publicly that he was eager for most of the records to be released as quickly as possible. In a Reuters interview last week, Kean said he was not aware until told by Reuters that only a small portion of the records have since been unsealed, and he saw no justification for withholding most of the unreleased material.
Kean said the commissioners had agreed on the January 2, 2009 date for release so that the material would not come out until after the 2008 elections. "We didn't want it to become a political football," he said.
But he added: "It should all be available now... We (commissioners) all felt that there's nothing in the records that that shouldn't be available" once the election had passed.
The still-sealed documents contain source material on subjects ranging from actions by President Bush on the day of the attacks to the Clinton White House's earlier response to growing threats from al Qaeda - information that in some instances was omitted from the 2004 report because of partisan battles among the commissioners.
The sealed material also includes vast amounts of information on al Qaeda and U.S. intelligence efforts in the years preceding the attacks.
Shortly before the commission ceased to exist in August 2004, it turned over all of its records to the archives. In a letter dated August 20, 2004, the commission's chairman and vice chairman instructed the archives to make the material public "to the greatest extent possible" on January 2, 2009, "or as soon thereafter as possible."
Philip Zelikow, who was the commission's staff director, said the summary "could be declassified in full without any harm to national security." Zelikow, a historian at the University of Virginia who for a time also was a top adviser to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, said the same is true for a 7,000-word summary he helped prepare for the commission of daily presidential intelligence briefings from 1998 through the attack. He said the summary would be a boon to scholars studying the history of U.S. intelligence work.
Stephanie Kaplan, a former commission staff member who is now working on a Ph.D. dissertation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on al Qaeda, said she has had to rely heavily on other sources because so little of the commission data is public.
Fulgham said that in preparation for the 2009 deadline, the archives assigned additional employees for some months to help prepare disclosure of an initial batch of records. But since then the effort has ground to a halt, in part because of a shortage of personnel and the difficulty of dealing with classified material, Fulgham said.
He said another big problem is that roughly two-thirds of the commission material remains classified by the agencies that gave it to the commission.
In its 2004 letter, the commission had asked the archives to submit all classified material to the agencies that created the documents to review them for declassification. But Fulgham said the archives has not done so. He said there was little point in asking agencies such as the CIA and State Department to declassify the material because they already are swamped evaluating other, much older material for release, in part in response to a presidential order to declassify as many records as possible that are at least 25 years old.
Scholars and public-interest organizations that focus on foreign policy and national security have long complained that the government classifies far more material than necessary.
Kean said when he headed the commission, "Most of what I read that was classified shouldn't have been." He said. "Easily 60 percent of the classified documents have no reason to be classified - none."
Kristen Wilhelm, the sole archives official now assigned to review the commission documents, said in an interview that the records agency has focused on releasing material created by the commission itself, such as "memoranda for the record" in which commission staff summarized research and interviews. She said the archives decided to emphasize releasing that material because it is the only possible source for it.
Wilhelm said she now mainly just responds to individual requests for information, and in most instances refers applicants to the agencies that created the documents rather than working to unseal the material herself. She said researchers could file Freedom of Information Act requests with individual federal agencies for documents they had turned over to the commission.
Commission records held by the Archives itself are exempt from FOIA because the commission was established by Congress and the legislative branch records are exempt from FOIA.
Some of the material now public is posted on the archives website, particularly the staff-written memoranda and transcripts of some commission interviews. But Wilhelm said most of the released material can be viewed only at the archives' headquarters.
John Berger, an author who maintains a website of terrorism and 9/11-related documents, said the failure to release more material is bad for the country because scholars and journalists are often able to analyze such material in depth, producing valuable insights.
"You can point to things produced from declassified documents that help our understanding and the government's understanding of urgent problems," he said. - rawstory

Take the first step towards genuine peace of mind
I received the following email from J.B.C. in Mesa, Arizona. They describe an unknown winged creature that was perched at their home. Tell us what you think this cryptid may be:
Hello, Lon and all;
I enjoy reading your blog, though I am not the type who sees a UFO or spiritual entity every time there is a shadow or flash, I am open-minded and respectful of others. I have had my share of strange experiences, and hardships, but now I am a happily "normal" wife and mother just about to turn 30.
The experience I'd like to share with you happened in the summer of 2002. I was 20, still living at home in a rental in east Mesa, Arizona with my 18 year-old brother and my mother. As you may know, Arizona has a typically 6 month long scorching, dry summer climate, and being a transplant from beautiful Northern Cali it was hard for us to adapt.
Anyhow, it was a hot summer night in late May or early June. My brother had just graduated high school and I was working full time during the day. We spent our evening talking and laughing and playing music, it really was a memorably enjoyable night. At about 10:30 I noticed that the front porch light had again burned out, as it had been doing for about 18 months prior to that. In fact, both of the lights over the driveway and 3 lights in our backyard were continually ceasing to function and it seamed I was always buying bulbs and expensive strobe light bulbs. I don't know if this is some how connected to what happened next.
First I must add that our front door was set back into the house with the garage protruding. Our front yard was much deeper than the backyard and was over shadowed by 3 velvet mesquite and a china berry tree, and various species of cholla cacti. So the street light did little to penetrate the den of darkness.
I turned the lamp light to my bedroom which was really an office nook right next to the front door, which had a large latticed picture window with run-of-the-mill blinds. I opened the blinds and the light flooded the wall of the garage. What I saw made my skin crawl. There on the stucco wall was some "thing". It was only about 10 to 12 feet from where I was standing. The only way to describe it was that it looked like a giant headless moth. I called my brother over excitedly. I clearly remember our conversation.
"What do you suppose that is?"
"I have no idea! It must be a bat of some sort."
"But we only have micro bats here in Arizona. And I have always heard that bats hang upside down."
"I guess it could be a giant moth. We do live in the desert."
"I thought moths were attracted to light. The lights are all burnt out again".
We talked for a moment and stood next to the glass panes adjacent the front door, the bedroom light illuminating all the while, and the "thing" did not stir or move. We decided it was about 18 inches to 2 feet long from blunt top to winged bottom. It was very clear yet very dark, almost black, no antennae visible. It hung on the wall like a moth but was about the size of a medium-sized fruit bat, which I believe only exist in Asia? It was about five or six feet off the ground. My mother came and had a look and shuddered and refused to stand near the door. We were both young and curious and my brother said "Let's go have a look at it then." We swung the door and security screen open and he took a step over the door jam. I was suddenly struck with an unreal, unearthly fear and grabbed his shoulder. He looked back at me and later said I had the most wholly terrified look on my face that he had ever seen. I am afraid and tingly even writing this. Without a word he stepped back inside and we locked both doors and closed the blinds and camped out in the living room, only going to sleep after several thoughtful conversations.
The very next morning at sun up I went out to the wall with a tape measure and my brother and mom stood at the door and directed me as to where and how high and how long this thing had been planted. There was no trace of anything, the dust on the stucco looked the same all around, no residue or anything. When they were both satisfied with the positioning I read the tape measure: 28 inches. My mother walked back into the house and has absolutely refused to speak of it since.
My brother and I are both keenly interested in animal/insect/plant life via books, and media, and I have taken an MCC course in Southwest biology, and neither of us have ever seen or heard of anything matching its description. My husband was raised here and said the only thing he could think of that size was an owl, but this was no owl. What was it? Perhaps it is a real animal we could not identify. Has someone had a similar experience or know what it could be? We are not exaggerating people, we are level-headed and analytical. Thank you for your time.

If smart aliens exist, they may have visited Earth millions of years ago – and left signs of their technological prowess that should be cheap and easy for us to detect.
So says astrophysicist Paul Davies of Arizona State University in Tempe.
Traditionally, the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) has focused on listening for deliberate dispatches in radio signals. But in 50 years of searching, this costly approach has drawn a blank.
So Davies suggests scouring our own planet, even our cells, on the off-chance that aliens visited and did what amounts to scrawling "We were here" on the walls. "We can answer the question 'Are we alone?' without picking up messages," he says. "We may see indirect evidence of alien technology based on the footprint it leaves."
If aliens did come to our cosmic neighbourhood, it was probably hundreds of millions of years ago. Any "footprints" would have to last for eons to be detected by us. That means a manufactured slab of rock in the style of 2001: A Space Odyssey (pictured) would be a poor candidate: it would erode, or at least get buried before we came to notice it.
But detritus from industry, such as mining, might last. Former mines on the Earth, the moon or asteroids could show up in geological surveys, even if they have filled in or eroded since the aliens left, says Davies.
Nuclear waste is another possibility. Davies suggests we search for plutonium-244. The element occurs naturally on Earth in trace amounts only and has a half-life of 80 million years. So substantial deposits would be a sign of alien nuclear technology.
This echoes a suggestion by Frank Drake of the SETI Institute in California that aliens might have used radioactive materials to mark the location of a message.
Aliens may even have left deliberate messages in our DNA, Davies says. Most DNA includes long sequences that seem to serve no biological function. Aliens may have embedded code in this "junk DNA" – a sequence of prime numbers as in the movie Contact, say – to signal their existence to us.
Microbiologist Steve Benner of the Foundation for Applied Molecular Evolution in Gainesville, Florida, reckons such a message would get deleted pretty quickly. "Paul is being a little too extravagant here," he says. "He overestimated the robustness of non-functional DNA."
Gary Ruvkun at Harvard Medical School, who heads the Search for Extraterrestrial Genomes project, agrees: "You'd need a funny code," he says, one that would still be decipherable even after it mutated.
In 1978, Japanese researchers searched the DNA of the bacteriophage Phi X174 for such signs and failed to find anything.
Davies's paper has garnered a spectrum of further responses. Drake thinks "being alert for artefacts of extraterrestrial origin, in space but particularly on Earth, is a good thing to do".
Seth ShostakMovie Camera, also at the SETI Institute, agrees, but emphasises that hunts on Earth can't be a substitute for searching beyond our planet. "After all," he says, "the Earth tends to obliterate evidence on its surface."
David Deutsch, a theoretical physicist at the University of Oxford, says searching on Earth is unlikely to be fruitful but is certainly worth doing: "This is something where we really should leave no stone unturned." He doubts that aliens used nuclear power to reach Earth – something more powerful like antimatter is more likely, he says – "but maybe they used plutonium for their mobile phones".
Biologist Norman Pace at the University of Colorado, Boulder, on the other hand, says the article is "mainly bullshit". "I do have faith that there is a lot of biology out in the universe, but I also believe in travel limitations implicit in the speed of light and the vastness of the universe."
Davies admits that his idea is "wild and fanciful", but adds that it has the benefit of being cheap. "It costs nothing to crawl through a database of genomes. This stuff is free on the internet," he says. "The chances are exceedingly small that anything will come out of it. Nevertheless, the pay-off is exceedingly big."
He wants more people to have a shot at doing SETI. "Instead of leaving it to a heroic band of radio astronomers, I want to say 'look, everyone can lend a hand'," he says. "We can make this whole field much larger, and involve everybody."
NOTE: they assume that these 'aliens' are no longer inhabiting Earth? Lon
Manatees' growing dependence on power plants for survival
"The past two winters have been very hard on manatees," according to Ron Mezich, a Biological Scientist at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Cold waters have killed at least 400 of these endangered mammals. Some, however, have found that power plants are a source of the warm water that they need to survive.
ManateesEngineers use water to cool off power plants, and that water is then re-circulated into ponds and streams, often at high temperatures. "Typically Florida's spring systems average around 72 degrees, but Manatees aren't fooled," Mezich told PRI's Here and Now. "When the power plant offers them 80 degree discharged water they oftentimes prefer that."
This relationship has been building for decades. Mezich says, "Over the years, the power plants have learned to deal with them." He adds, "in some cases, it's an attraction for the local community to see large numbers of manatees."
The manatees have learned to live with the power plants, too. Mezich says, "Power plants have probably helped manatees over the last 30-40 years by reducing losses to cold stress."
In the long term, though, that relationship could become a problem. "These power plants won't always be there," Mezich points out, "and sometimes they have mechanical difficulties and we lose them, and that is a very big concern."
"We're looking in the future for ways to wean the animals off these sites," Mezich told Here and Now. They're running microcosm experiments to see how best to move the animals away from the power plants and allow them to live on their own. - pri-org

"I'm Gumby, dammit...give me your money!"
The bizarre robbery attempt happened just after midnight on Labor Day, when a man dressed as TV character "Gumby" entered the store on Carmel Mountain Road with another man and approached the clerk behind the counter. Initially, the man in the Gumby costume asked for a pack of cigarettes but then told the clerk, "This is a robbery." The clerk thought it was a joke and told the man dressed as Gumby, "Come on man, don’t waste my time. I have things to do."
After the clerk dismissed Gumby, Gumby said he had a gun and fumbled around in his costume, appearing to search for it. A gun never materialized, but Gumby did drop 27 cents on the floor as a result of all the movement before leaving the store with an unidentified accomplice. The entire incident was caught on the store's surveillance cameras.
"Yeah, it's hilarious to look at it on the video," said San Diego police Detective Gary Hassen. "But, it is a very serious crime and we take it very seriously." Hassen kept a straight face while explaining that wearing a Gumby costume is no different than any other disguise worn by potential robbers. "It could have been a ski mask. It could have been a bandana. It could have been a hoodie. It just happens to be a Gumby costume," said Hassen.
Because the robbery attempt was so bizarre, the clerk did not call police. Later on Monday morning, the clerk's boss saw the surveillance video and called police. The clerk said he had never even heard of Gumby until he was almost robbed by a man dressed as him. He told his boss the costume looked something like a green version of the TV cartoon character "SpongeBob SquarePants." A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the man in the Gumby costume and his accomplice.
Hello friend I am an abductee here is one of my abductions. It must have been about a year ago but I went to the city to visit my brother. Around 2 am I left his house and walked to a longtime friend who also lived in the city. It is only about 10 min walk. When walking the next thing I can remember was having my eyes closed and hearing this calm, relaxing, soothing almost hypnotizing in a females voice saying. Kevin.. Kevin...its ok Kevin where here to help, it's ok, where no going to harm you, its okay. Were going to make you feel better. Then my eyes opened up and at first there was a blinding light but then it went away and I could see the room and in the room were 2 Grey aliens very tall. I remember that in the room there was 2 different colors in the room. On the top of the wall and at the bottom there was almost like a trim around the room. The top color was purple and the bottom color was blue, it was a thin line of theses colors trimming the room as light, light was coming from them. I asked the alien if they aren't going to harm me then what are they going to do to me. They replied back ''we are going to help you and fix you¨. Now my mouth wasn't moving when talking to them. When I would get scared then I could tell I was using my mouth. The next thing I remember was each Grey on each side of me they then put me up against a cold metal thing and it was moving with each of them on my sides. They brought me to a hall to the left of the white room, the hall was dark cloudy or misty like fog. The hall ways must have been around 40 ft long. Before I got to the next room I could see to the right a huddled circle formation of at least 7 to 8 Greys in a huddled formation. They were tall. There was and exit to another room next to them with a hall way same as the white room. To the left in the room was a smaller group about 5. The room itself was dark round there was a fog or a mist in the room but at time it seemed to go away, also a dim light because I could see across the room. The walls of the room were indented almost like a V shape indent in the wall. The walls were not flat. When entering the room I could smell a chemical like smell something like Bleach or Peroxide or Ammonia. They brought me into center of the room. I remember one of them was so tall he had to like bend a little to look me in the eyes. What's weird at this point was I wasn't really scared and it seemed hard for me to see their face at times. I was still standing up against that thing they put me against in the white room. Then, one of them put a hand on my nose and another one put this small black tube up my nose. The alien Greys had long fingers very tall had a little mouth that moved up and down motion like a fish mouth but nothing was coming out. I remember screaming after they did that. All the time I could hear the voice saying it's going to be ok, we are here to help in a soft calm voice as if they was trying to relax me, but I was scared. The next thing I remember was the thing I was standing up against slammed down making this loud noise it slammed down like a table, so I was now lying down. They then brought me towards the left side of the room so it seemed. I began to get hostile and remember cocking my left leg back and kicking the alien to my lower left, he went against wall and fell down. I clearly remember doing it and watching the Grey fly against the wall and sliding down the other Greys quickly backed off. From then on the next thing I remember was on the side of the road again. Right after I realized what had happened still dazed and confused. There was this cop who drove real slow right next to me and I asked him where a street was and he looked at me, he didn't say a word just pointed and stared with this nasty look. I had lost 3 or 4 hours of time it was nearly 6 in morning when I got to my friend's house. I remember the smells in the craft; they were like bleach, ammonia, or peroxide smell, the greys were at least 7 ft. or 8ft tall, long fingers, slips for mouths and smaller black eyes.I was talking to them telepathic. I use to have a crooked nose but since the alien stuck that small black tube up my nose it's straight again. I remember the colors of inside the craft white, purple and blue. I remember some of there tech, such as a thin 7inch black tube. The thing I was standing against moves on its own and is capable at fast speed slamming down like a table or bed. There are other accounts but this one stick outs in my head the most. Please I need help in this matter ever since it has happened. It has consumed my thinking completely and is all I can think about. It took me almost a year to go outside at night. I was so petrified. Every night before I go to bed I have to stare up in the sky. I am desperately looking for help and do not know where to look. I am branching out to you in hopes you may be able to point me in right way in helping me on this matter. I thank you very much for reading my email. - MUFON CMS

On the Trail of the Orang Pendek, Sumatra's Mystery Ape - Part I
The Indonesian island of Sumatra is the sixth largest island in the world. Sadly it has lost half its rainforest in the past 35 years, erased by the chainsaw to make way for palm oil and coffee plantations. Despite this, in the west of the island there are still vast tracts of forest standing, among them Kerinci Seblat National Park which covers 13,791 square kilometres – about the size of Montenegro.
It is from these forests that reports of a species of ape that walks upright and is unknown to science have been emerging for almost 100 years.
The orang pendek, "short man" in Malay, is said to be 4-5 feet tall but powerfully built with broad shoulders and long muscular arms. Sightings suggest it walks upright like a human, its body is covered with black or honey-coloured hair, and it may have a long mane of hair from its head down its back. It appears to live on the forest floor, unlike the arboreal Sumatran orang-utan which is confined to the north of the island.
The orang pendek's diet is said to be mostly fruits, vegetables and tubers, but some witnesses say they have seen it ripping open logs to get at insect larvae. Rare reports describe it eating fish and freshwater molluscs, and some early reports even have it consuming the flesh of dead rhinoceros that had fallen into pit traps.
Native people in Sumatra, including the modern Sumatrans of Malayan descent and the Orang Rimba or Kubu – the aboriginal people of Sumatra – ascribe no supernatural powers to the creature, unlike tigers, pythons and other naneks: spirit or tribal totem animals. Nevertheless, many jungle people fear the orang pendek because of its strength, even though it is not considered aggressive and will usually move away from any human it sees. It is said occasionally to use rocks and sticks as crude weapons, hurling them when it feels threatened.
Native knowledge of the creature goes back into the mists of history and there are a number of local names for it. In the south-eastern lowlands it is called sedapa or sedapak. Gugu is the name in southern Sumatra while in the Rawas district it is atu rimbu. In Bengkulu it is known as sebaba. These days the creature is reported only in the west of the island, specifically in and around Kerinci Seblat National Park.
News of the creature first reached the west in the early 20th century via Dutch colonists. In 1918, the Sumatran governor, LC Westenenk, recorded an event that took place in 1910:
A boy from Padang employed as an overseer by Mr van H– had to stake the boundaries of a piece of land for which a long lease had been applied. One day he took several coolies into the virgin forest on the Barissan Mountains near Loeboek Salasik. Suddenly he saw, some 15 metres away, a large creature, low on its feet, which ran like a man … it was very hairy and was not an orang-utan; but its face was not like an ordinary man's … "
Westenenk recorded another encounter. In 1917 a Mr Oostingh, owner of a coffee plantation at Dataran, was in the forests at the base of Boekit Kaba when he saw a figure sitting on the ground about 30 feet away. According to Oostingh:
His body was as large as a medium-sized native's and he had thick square shoulders, not sloping at all. The colour was not brown, but looked like black earth, a sort of dusty black, more grey than black.
"He clearly noticed my presence. He did not so much as turn his head, but stood up on his feet: he seemed quite as tall as I (about 1.75m). Then I saw that it was not a man, and I started back, for I was not armed. The creature took several paces, without the least haste, and then, with his ludicrously long arm, grasped a sapling, which threatened to break under his weight, and quietly sprang into a tree, swinging in great leaps alternately to right and to left."
The sightings continued into the 1920s, some of them at very close range. In May 1927, a Dutch plantation worker called AHW Cramer who lived in Kerinci reported seeing an orang pendek from a distance of only 10 metres. It had long hair and black skin. The beast ran away leaving small, human-like footprints.
Also in 1927 an orang pendek was said to have been caught in a tiger trap but broke free. The traces of blood it left were examined by zoologist KW Damerman who concluded that it was not from a bear, gibbon or human.
In the 1930s interest in the creature waned, perhaps due in part to the outbreak of the second world war and the Indonesian struggle for independence that followed. It was not thrust into the public gaze again until an Englishwoman, Debbie Martyr, began her research in the late 1980s.
Martyr first visited Sumatra in July of 1989 as a travel writer, and while camped on the slopes of Mount Kerinci her guide Jamruddin pointed out areas were Sumatran rhinoceros and tiger could be seen. Then, casually, he commented that in the forested mountains east of Gunung Tujuh orang pendeks were sometimes seen. When Debbie made a sceptical comment Jamruddin told her that he had seen the orang pendek twice. He told her it was still common, but getting rarer due to the incursions of farmers.
Martyr stayed on in Sumatra and began to collect eyewitness accounts that would eventually fill several volumes. She had her own sighting in 1990.
I saw it in the middle of September; I had been out here four months. At that time I was 90% certain that there was something here, that it was not just traditional stories ... When I saw it I saw an animal that didn't look like anything in any of the books I had read, films I had seen, or zoos I had seen. It did indeed walk rather like a person and that was a shock.
"It was a relatively small, immensely strong, non-human primate. But it was very gracile, that was the odd thing. So if you looked at the animal you might say that it resembled a siamang or an agile gibbon on steroids! It doesn't look like an orang-utan. Their proportions are very different. It is built like a boxer, with immense upper body strength … It was a gorgeous colour, moving bipedally and trying to avoid being seen."
Martyr, together with photographer Jeremy Holden, began a 15-year search funded by Fauna and Flora International. Jeremy used camera traps set up in remote jungles but failed to capture orang pendek on film. However, he did catch a glimpse of it as he climbed over a ridge in the jungle, but the creature swiftly moved away. He only saw it from the back but noted it walked upright like a man.

My good friend Adam Davies, together with Andrew Sanderson and Keith Townley, have found and cast orang pendek footprints, and collected hair in the Kerinci area. Primate biologist Dr David Chivers of the University of Cambridge compared the cast with those from other known primates and local animals and concluded that it was definitely an ape with a unique blend of features from gibbon, orang-utan, chimpanzee and human. "From further examination the print did not match any known primate species and I can conclude that this points towards there being a large unknown primate in the forests of Sumatra," he reported.
Anthropologist Dr Jeffrey Meldrum at Idaho State University said the cast was probably a primate print, but suggested it might be a handprint.
Having seen orang pendek tracks in the field, however, I believe Davies's track is a footprint rather than a handprint, and from my experience of the great apes I can say that the tracks of the orang pendek are quite distinct from any known species of ape.
Dr Hans Brunner, an expert on mammal hair, compared the hairs with those of other primates and local animals and concluded that they originated from a previously undocumented species of primate.
On Friday I will describe my own three expeditions to Sumatra, during which we interviewed witnesses, set camera traps and examined footprints. On the latest of these expeditions, in 2009, one of the group saw the creature.
I believe the orang pendek is a great ape closely related to the orang-utan – in other words an undiscovered species of ponginae. In all the interviews I have conducted with eyewitnesses, they describe what sounds like an ape rather than a hominin: long arms, massive shoulders, little neck, much body hair, short legs.
But why, in a jungle full of trees, does the orang pendek walk upright and live on the ground? Martyr suggested that the creature became bipedal in the wake of the eruption of the Toba supervolcano around 75,000 years ago that would have stripped the island of its trees. However, this does not explain how the Sumatran orang-utan survived. I believe the orang pendek's distinct evolutionary origins are older than this.
When they come to the forest floor, male Sumatran orang-utan walk on two legs, but up in the trees they will also walk erect along branches. Bipedalism was once thought to have developed on the plains of East Africa when hominids first left the jungles to exploit new food sources around 5 million years ago. Standing erect, according to the theory, gave them a better view of potential predators. The vervet monkey demonstrates this kind of behaviour, rearing up to look about it for danger. But now it seems that bipedalism may have begun to evolve in the jungles.
During a year-long study of the Sumatran orang-utans of Gunung Leuser National Park, palaeoanthropologist Susannah Thorpe of the University of Birmingham spotted apes in the trees on almost 3,000 occasions, including numerous instances were they walked erect. In 75% of these cases they maintained balance with their hands, and for over 90% of the time their legs were stiff, unlike the bent-knee, bent-hip shuffle of chimps and gorillas, which also sometimes stand upright in trees.
The apes stood erect mainly to reach for fruit while on fairly narrow branches. Thorpe postulated that the straight-legged posture helped them balance in the same way as a gymnast on a trampoline. Palaeoanthropologist Bernard Wood of George Washington University in Washington DC commented on the findings: "Most of us had assumed that the only place where it's sensible to be bipedal is on the ground. A handful of fossil species dating from 5 million to 28 million years old, mostly before chimpanzees split from hominins, showed signs of upright posture and bipedalism, but the evidence has been pretty flakey."
Wood thinks Thorpe's findings put these fossil apes in a new light and that they may have been true bipeds that evolved bipedalism to reach for fruit. As the jungles shrank they took up bipedal walking on the ground while the gorillas and chimpanzees took up knuckle walking.
The fossils in question were of course African, but could something similar have occurred in the jungles of Asia, ultimately giving rise to a number of bipedal ape species? Sunda was a large land mass that once incorporated Sumatra, Borneo, Java, the surrounding islands and the Malayan peninsula and connected them all to mainland Asia. As melting glaciers flooded the oceans 19,000 years ago, sea levels rose and the huge land mass became the islands we know today.
As I have mentioned, the two known orang-utan species had already speciated some 400,000 years ago. We do not know why this occurred but the more gracile Sumatran form, and the robust Bornean, separated. The robust form populated the eastern island of Borneo and the gracile the western island of Sumatra.
A larger form, Pongo hooijeri, the size of a modern gorilla and presumably a ground dweller, existed further north in what is now mainland Asia. Closely related and known only from its teeth and jaws was the huge Gigantopithecus blacki. This latter species has left fossils in India, Vietnam and China – some dating as recently as 300,000 years ago. Due to the wide shape of the jawbone it has been postulated that Gigantopithecus was a biped, with the neck placed directly under the skull. If this is correct, and if the rest of the animal was built on the same scale, then Gigantopithecus would have stood 10 feet tall. Some believe that the creature is not extinct but survives in parts of India, Tibet, China, the Himalayas and elsewhere, known as the larger type of yeti.
All of the above, including modern orang-utans, seem to have descended from a genus of ancient apes known as Sivapithecus. They flourished 12.5 to 8.5 million years ago and had bodies shaped like chimpanzees, but heads more like those of modern orang-utans. Another genus Lufengpithecus arose around 10 million years ago. These may have descended from an earlier form of Sivapithecus. Morphologically they seem to fall between Sivapithecus and modern orang-utans. It is from Lufengpithecus that modern orangs may have evolved.
I think that when the speciation of the modern orangs began, they split not into two but three species. The robust P. pygmaeus, the more gracile and more upright P. abelii and a third, smaller terrestrial species that we today know as the orang pendek. If we can prove this creature exists, not only will it be an astounding zoological discovery but it may give us more clues to how bipedalism evolved in our own species. - guardian
Orang Pendek Quest Begins in Sumatra - Part II
A possible orang pendek footprint found by Adam Davies in Gunung Tujuh in 2009. Photograph: Adam Davies
My first expedition to Sumatra took place in 2003. As the zoological director of the Centre for Fortean Zoology I have been all over the world in search of creatures such as the giant anaconda, the almasty and the Mongolian death worm. But it is Sumatra and the orang pendek that keep pulling me back.
In 2003 I accompanied Dr Chris Clark and Jon Hare to Gunung Tujuh, the Lake of Seven Peaks, in Kerinci Seblat National Park. The jungle around the lake is a hotspot for orang pendek sightings. Our guide Sahar Dimus found tracks of a bipedal creature, but they were too rain-damaged to cast.
In the 1980s Sahar's father and a friend had been cutting logs to build a house close to where the village of Polompek now stands. The area has long since been deforested. Both men saw a bipedal ape lifting up cut logs and throwing them about. It was covered in blackish-brown hair and was about 1.5 metres (five feet) tall. The hair on the creature's spine was darker. Its legs were short and its powerful arms were long. The face was broad and black in colour with some pink markings. Both men fled.
We also visited the village of Sungi-Khuning in another part of the park. Here, the year before, a poacher who had set a snare for deer claimed to have caught an orang pendek. The powerfully built ape was struggling with the snare. The poacher tried to jab the creature with his spear but the beast smashed it to matchwood and screamed at him. The poacher fainted and when he awoke the creature had pulled itself free and was walking off into the jungle. It had long, powerful arms and walked erect.
We could not find the man to interview him, but explored the jungles beyond the village.
The following May we returned to explore a remote gorge in the park where, apparently, no westerner had been. We interviewed eyewitnesses who had seen the creature on the semi-cultivated land at the edge of the park known as the Garden. The creatures are said to steal sugar cane and other crops.
One witness was a farmer called Seman who told us he had seen the creature in an area of land adjacent to a river at noon one day in February 2004. Back then the area was overgrown. The creature was only visible from the waist upward and probably over a metre tall. It had short black hair, a broad chest with visible pink skin and a pointed head, possibly indicating a sagittal crest. The ears were long. The creature vanished and Seman said that he had the feeling it had fled to the river and swam across it, though he did not see this. The river was a torrent when we were there but in February it was much lower.
On visiting the area we worked out that the creature had been 22 metres away from the witness. Seman produced a sketch showing a powerfully built, ape-like creature with broad shoulders, long arms and a conical head. At no time did it raise up its arms, as gibbons do on the rare occasions they move about on the ground.
We returned to the same area the next day to interview another witness, called Ata, who claimed to have seen the creature about three weeks after Seman. He heard a strange ooooha! ooooha! cry coming from the same part of the the Garden where Seman had his encounter. Upon investigation Ata found himself only five metres away from the beast, which was a metre tall and had short black hair. Its prominent chest made him think it was female. Its lower half was hidden by vegetation.
He noticed that it had large owl-like eyes, a flat nose, and a large mouth. It seemed aggressive and Ata said he felt the hairs on the back of his hands stand up.
Ata produced a drawing of a muscular, upright creature with large round eyes. It lacked the pointed head of Seman's description.
Our guide Sahar had found an old man called Pak En, the only person who knew the way to the gorge that we had dubbed The Lost Valley. Pak En told us that he had seen an orang pendek in the jungle just above the valley three years ago. He was walking along a jungle trail when he saw it approaching. It was one metre tall, upright, and powerfully built. It had black hair with red tips and a broad mouth. Its prominent breasts made Pak En think it was a female. He noticed that it grasped the vegetation as it moved. It let out an ooooha! ooooha! sound. He watched it move down the trail for two minutes before it saw him. On seeing Pak En it quickly turned about and walked back the way it had come.
After several days' hard trek we descended into the Lost Valley. After a fruitless search we moved down to the Bangko area, a place of lowland jungle inhabited by the Kubu. We met the local chief of the Kubu, a man named Nylam who said he had seen an orang pendek in the area only three months previously. He had been up a tree at the time. The animal was 1.25 metres tall and covered with red-tinted black hair. It had a broad mouth, walked upright and held its arms like a man. It made a weeeehp! weeeehp! noise and looked about itself as if it could smell its observer. Nylam watched it for half an hour.
It would be another five years before I returned to the jungles of Sumatra. Joining Clark and me was Adam Davies (who already had a number of expeditions under his belt) and Dave Archer.
We returned to Bangko to meet a small number of Kubu at a pre-arranged place in the jungle. This group seemed shyer than those we had met in 2004 and the women and children ran away leaving one man. The other men were apparently away hunting in the jungle. The man, who would not give his name, told his story through a translator.
Three years previously he had seen an orang pendek close to the wonderfully named village of Anoolie Pie some 23km away. It was around 1.2 metres tall and covered with black hair. The creature's face reminded the man of a macaque, with a flat nose and broad mouth. It stood and walked on two legs, never once dropping down on all fours. He said it was not a monkey, gibbon or sun bear. The creature seemed afraid of him and walked quickly away while looking from side to side.
He told us that the Kubu thought the creature was half-man half-animal.
That evening we had a visit from an unassuming man called Tarib who was the supreme chief of the Kubu. Most of the Kubu were away hunting but he had made a special effort to visit us and had an amazing tale to tell. Five years ago he had seen an orang pendek as he was walking in the forest. He took the creature by surprise and it became aggressive, raising its arms above its head and charging. He fled and hid behind a tangle of rattan vines. He watched as it looked for him, turning its head from side to side. Finally it moved away.
The next day we rose early for the trek up to Gunung Tuju. After making camp we set up camera traps, splitting into two groups. Dave had brought four camera traps and Chris had a number of sticky boards (cardboard strips coated with a powerful adhesive usually for trapping rats and mice). We would place them on jungle paths, baited with fruit, in the hope an orang pendek would leave some of its hairs stuck in the solution.
The trail Chris and I followed for several miles ran abreast of the lake. We came across some orang pendek tracks – I instantly recognised the narrow, human-like heel and the wider front part of the foot. They were impressed in loam on the forest floor and not good enough to cast. We set up two camera traps in the area and two sticky boards that we baited with fruit.
Upon returning to camp we heard amazing news. Earlier in the day Adam had heard a large animal moving through the forest, while in the distance siamang gibbons were kicking up a fuss. Sahar and Dave crept forward and were greeted with an amazing sight.
Squatted in a tree around 100 feet from them was an orang pendek. They could not see the face clearly as it was pressed against the tree trunk. Dave felt that it was peering at them sideways. He saw the creature's eye rolling in alarm and could see large teeth in the bottom jaw. It had broad shoulders and long powerful arms, and dark brown, almost black fur. The hands and feet were not in view. The hair and shape of the head were reminiscent of a gorilla, but the high forehead was like that of an orang-utan. Dave said he was sure it was not a sun bear or a siamang gibbon.
From his vantage point Dave could not get a good photograph because leaves and branches were in the way. As he moved to get a better view Sahar saw the creature climb down from the tree and walk away on two legs. Adam said that Sahar had wept for 10 minutes because he did not have a camera to get a picture – he has been on the trail of the beast since 1997. Wildlife photographer Jeremy Holden saw the orang pendek briefly in Kerinci National Park and spent the next 15 years fruitlessly trying to get a photograph of it.
Next to the tree was some rattan vine the animal had been chewing. Adam carefully placed this in a specimen tube full of ethanol in the hope that some of the cells from the creature's mouth would have adhered to the plant much like a DNA swab.
In the morning we re-traced our steps to the camera traps. En route we found more orang pendek tracks. They were recognisable as the creature – nothing else in the area makes tracks like them. Despite sceptics' insistence that people mistake sun bear tracks for orang pendek tracks, the two spoors are completely different, the sun bear showing long claws. However, they were not of a good enough quality to cast. Once again the sticky boards and camera traps turned up nothing of interest.
Later we hiked to the area where Dave and Sahar had seen the orang pendek. We heard a "uhhg-uhhg-uhhhhg" sound in the distance briefly. We called out in response but there was no reply. We found nothing on the camera traps or sticky boards so we reset them and returned to camp.
The tracks Adam had found were still visible. The heels looked human but the front part was more ape-like, wide with a well-separated big toe. Unfortunately our supply of plaster of paris had degraded so we could not cast them. We had to make do with taking a number of photographs using our hands as frames of reference.
I am a former zoo keeper and have worked with all the known great apes. I have seen their tracks in just about every medium and I can tell you that the orang pendek's tracks are quite different, with a human-like heel but a well separated big toe that seems less prehensile than that of any other ape.
Checking the traps in the morning we once more came up empty-handed. We decided to split up. Adam and Sahar followed the bed of a stream, Doni and Chris took a path to the right and Dally and I one to the left, while Dave and John took higher ground.
We checked the traps again next morning. The stills cameras had caught nothing except a bird. However, the camera Dave set to film mode had no less than 70 five-second sequences. Unfortunately we would have to wait till we got back to England to watch them.
In the afternoon we decided to cross the lake and search on the far side. Adam had been there only once and the rest of us had never seen the area.
Only a few yards into the jungle we stumbled across a trackway made by a tiger about a week before. A little further on Adam spotted something that even the guides had missed. Coming up a slope towards the path was a set of orang pendek tracks that were clearer than any we had seen before. The toes were all individually visible. We photographed them extensively and cursed our lack of plaster (ruined by the damp) to cast them.
We sent half of the samples off to Lars Thomas at Copenhagen University, and Adam sent off his half to Professor Todd Disotell of New York University.
Lars studied the structure of the hair and found that it was similar to, but distinct from, orang-utan. He said he was forced to conclude that there was a large, unknown primate in Sumatra. His colleague Dr Tom Gilbert found some DNA that seemed to be human. We think the sample may have been contaminated during collection. Todd was unable to extract any DNA from his sample.
Shortly after my return to England, Dally – the man who had been our "fixer" on this expedition – emailed to tell me of further sightings in Kerinci. On 8 October some birdwatchers from Siulak Mukai village saw an orang pendek near Gunung Tapanggang. They watched it for 10 minutes from a distance of only 10 metres. It had black skin and long arms, and walked like a man.
On 18 October a man called Pak Udin saw an orang pendek in Tandai Forest. The creature was looking for food in a dead tree, possibly insect larvae. It had black and silver hair, long arms and short legs. He watched it for three minutes before it ran away.
On Friday, we embark on the latest Centre for Fortean Zoology expedition to Sumatra. This time we are taking more personnel and more cameras than ever before. The two-week expedition consists of members from both the UK and Australia. In addition to myself, the UK contingent consists of Adam Davies, Dr Chris Clark, Dave Archer, Lisa Malam and Andrew Sanderson. The Australian contingent consists of Rebecca Lang and Mike Williams.
The group will split into two teams. The first will trek into the deep jungle around Gunung Tujuh and the second will concentrate on the "garden" area at the edges of the jungle.
The second team will be using fruit as bait and waiting in hides in the hope of photographing the orang pendek, as it seems attracted to crop fields. With the thinner tree cover and open spaces they stand a good chance of capturing the creature on film if it emerges.
The first team will be setting up a dozen or so camera traps in the deep jungle in the hope that the creature will pass by. They will also be exploring the region on foot armed with both still and video cameras. All team members will be equipped with kits for taking samples of hair and other biological material without contaminating it with human DNA.
We have Professor Bryan Sykes of Oxford University, one of the world's leading geneticists, on board. Together with Lars Tomas, Dr Tom Gilbert and Prof Todd Disotell they will be carrying out independent analysis on any samples we bring back.
This will be my fourth expedition to Sumatra since 2003. Each time I visit I see the rainforest shrinking. Areas that were once verdant jungle are now agricultural monocultures.
Kerinci Seblat National Park is huge, but it cannot hold out against human pressure forever. If we can prove the existence of a new species of ape in these jungles then the eyes of the world will be on Sumatra and pressure will be exerted on the Indonesian government to fight poaching, logging and to stem the tide of agriculture that is eating into the park.
No one knows how many orang pendek are left. It would be an unthinkable crime and a massive loss to science if this animal were allowed to slip into extinction before it is even officially recognised.
Richard Freeman is zoological director of the Centre for Fortean Zoology. On Thursday he introduced the orang pendek and suggested its likely evolutionary origins

Well folks, for the life of me I just cannot comprehend why these videos are being produced 3 years after the fact...but I will admit that some of the claims in the 3rd video have me somewhat intrigued. What is the real reason behind the disclosures? Rick Dyer is now accusing Tom Biscardi and Steve Kulls of cooperating in the hoax until Kulls decided he wasn't getting enough cash to keep quiet...thus, he spilled the beans to the media.
In his “The Official Report of Steve Kulls regarding the Georgia Bigfoot Body Hoax of 2008,” Kulls detailed his “investigation of the man whom propagated this hoax, C. Thomas Biscardi, and an exposè of his company; Searching for Bigfoot, Inc.” Here is the transcript:
From Steve Kulls, SquatchDetective.com:
No need to go into much of what has happened the last few weeks, many of you know the story all too well.
I will also state out of the people involved in my organization, it was only me on this mission. Not Becky, Billy , Sean or anyone, just me.
I will start by all saying, we all make some mistakes. Some say it was a mistake going on the air Monday July 28th, 2008 in the middle of "Camp Biscardi". I agree. I admit it. I made a mistake, an error in judgment. I should not have put myself in the position of physical harm (not being killed but a physical confrontation, or dependency on them for extraction) to tell the ENTIRE story. All a man can do is apologize and learn by it. I have done such. Forgiveness is in the eye of people. People who at times have erred too, and have been forgiven. If they chose to forgive me for it I will not ever let them down again. If they choose not to forgive me for it, I forgive them for their anger.
The Special Edition show, a few say it was a mistake going on air as soon as possible after, because I had not had much clarity and sounded exhausted. I was mentally and physically exhausted. For that I have to say, no. At the time I was not ready yet to completely implicate Biscardi in being complicit with anything yet. I needed rest, clarity and a review of materials. But I did need to get the word out that YES, I was lied to and misled, and yes there was an attempt at a cover-up, that had I not been there could have been one of the possible scenarios resulting.
As to Dyer's new videos implicating me, well consider the source. I think we need not much to ponder upon that. The truth in all of this matter is on my side, no one else's. I'll take a polygraph on any of these items and allegations on my "complicity".
Plain and simple, I put the parties in contact at their request, fed a bunch of deceptions and flew out there to Indiana to verify real or not. I expected not to be in the middle of any controversy, I was in air at the time of the press conference. At the time of my show, I had thought the only people Biscardi had lied to was myself and the crew there, not knowing what he had said at the press conference. I now know differently. And again apologize for not being "in the know" before airing Monday.
There are many that were "in the loop" on my side. More than a handful of my closest people.
They know this too is the entire truth and why now I feel that Biscardi was complicit in this.
It's either that or he is the most naive person in the world. But none the less, you cannot take away the fact he lied to the public, and that is not a good reflection upon our research efforts. So it is complicity even if it is by stupidity. But in my opinion, I believe he knew exactly what he was doing. It was clear Whitton and Dyer were attempting to scam others so Biscardi didn't start this hoax, but became part of it by lies and deceptions. I believe that they got him in deep, and for Biscardi there was no turning back. Biscardi didn't start this ruse, but he rose to it by lying, deceiving people what he saw...oh yeah there's that DNA letter thing too.
I stated on my blog, that should this be a hoax, it would be a death blow for Tom Biscardi and his company. Now his investors must look at what has happened and make further judgments on their future involvement with him.
I stated to an organization a year and a half or so, that if something were to happen like this, I would get the truth out there, and here it is folks, my time-line. What was said what was done. My allegiance is to the truth.

July 30 - I find out they did not sell body to National Enquirer as they stated to us personally, and attorney mentioned on radio show knew nothing of a bigfoot body. Biscardi calls me and tells me Dyer and Whitton want him to deal with the body exclusively.
July 30 - Both Whitton and Dyer appear on Biscardi's Radio show
July 31 - I call SFB VP Bob Schmalzbach and tell him I think this is a con, he needs to talk to Biscardi. He tells me to call him. I do get a voicemail. I'll cll in the early AM.
BISCARDI'S FIRST TRIP
Aug 1 - I call Biscardi and advise him of some revealing information about Dyer, I believe this is a con. Biscardi says he'll get to the bottom of it. Receive a phone call, from Biscardi, wants me to write an interim contract. Tells me he's going to get DNA.
Aug 2 - Biscardi calls and when asked states he cannot speak about what he saw. Calls later saying that he was "Right there when the DNA was cut from the body". States "This thing has incredibly thick skin"
Aug 4 -Contract stated my name as the introductory party as my only involvement. Told that the DNA is being hand delivered to Dr. Curt Nelson
BISCARDI'S SECOND TRIP
Aug 9 - Biscardi told me that tomorrow he's taking the measurements, and taking pictures.
Aug 10 - Biscardi describes the body, tells me about the eyes, the teeth, and genitalia.
Aug 11 - Biscardi forwards me an email from Dr. Nelson stating the DNA amplification size was consistent with human/ape and was going to be sequenced.
Aug 13 - I was given picture of alleged corpse. I had issues with the body. Biscardi sees my doubts tells asks me if he "would drop 50 large if this wasn't the real thing, I saw it".
Aug 14 - Saw comparisons of pictures to costume. Expressed it to Biscardi who told me he saw it and its not a costume, its the real thing. Crew picks up freezer from Whitton and Dyer, give them $50K. Crew thought it was supposed to be defrosted but they found it frozen. when I heard "corpse" was in transport I buy my plane ticket.
Aug 15 - Depart airport arrive in Indianapolis at 4:10PM EST. In flight during press conference. At Press conference (Palo Alto, Ca) Whitton describes how they cam across "corpse" etc. Biscardi states He touched it, smelled it, felt it amongst other deceptions.
Aug 15 - I am driven to location in Indiana, outside of Muncie in a rural community. There are no TV's however I see a few snippets of Whitton on a computer at the press conference.
Aug 16 - Ice melts to where I can get a hair sample. I examined hairs and determine they are not hairs. We burn it an it balls up into a melted wad, uncharacteristic of hair. We begin speed thaw using a salamander heater, and eventually pull a rubber foot out. Advise Biscardi who is unusually calm about it.
Aug 16 - Biscardi calls (two of the crew and investor are not present at the time) and he wants to fill the freezer up with water, freeze it, release it back to Whitton & Dyer and we'd make a statement that the public pressure was too much on them and they took their body back, and place a gag order on it, never speak of it again. I staunchly object and would not participate in it.
Aug 16 - I talk with Whitton to return the money, he states they don't have it and the only want to deal with Biscardi. Biscardi calls back and claims that Whitton & Dyer will sign a promissory note and confession the next morning before they leave for home. I draw up the documents. I try to be extricated but it would be a great burden on my friends and would place one at risk of safety driving there to pick me up. (Did not want him falling asleep at wheel).
Aug. 17 - Whitton and Dyer left before their scheduled meeting with Biscardi. Biscardi wants press there to expose it as a hoax, I am not able to leave because of this. I prepare a statement. Monday is a no go for home either now.
Aug 18 - Bob Schmalzbach removes many of the separation items in the statement. Media shows up and statement is transmitted. They are angry because of this position of separation.
Aug 18 - Squatchdetective Radio airs I announce the hoax at 10:10 PM, am flooded by several questions about Whitton, Dyer, etc. Last callers lower the boom on Biscardi. I am in the presence of Biscardi's son and close friend, if I agreed on the lying at that point it could have risked me physical harm. Why I responded the way I did by not answering. Not denying either. When asked about Biscardi's complicity, I stated "I don't believe so." At the time I did not. But I needed to review the conference as well as other materials and digest.
Aug 18 - Everyone is enraged I didn't call out Biscardi that night...I will not succumb either to peer pressure, to state a popular opinion. I needed to get my "ducks in a row." I had to get my head clear...and relevant facts entered. I also learn from a source that the DNA report he sent me on the 11th most likely was altered.
Aug 19 - I leave 5+ hours early for the airport, and soon as my "handlers" leave I get the word out of what had occurred, the deceptions. I apologized to listeners of the previous show for not being able to tell it like it is. My mistake...show could have waited. I am physically and mentally exhausted. Officially break ties with Tom Biscardi and his company. I arrive home at 11:30PM from airport.
Aug 20 - Whitton and Dyer state Biscardi and I coached them. I issued statement stating the above involvement was all I've had, I never met them or even been to Georgia this year. I Agree to take polygraph if anyone volunteers one. I Issue a cease and desist letter to Biscardi for any attempt at communication to me.
Aug 21 - I appear on Fox and Friends at 6:50AM and reveal the deceptions of Tom Biscardi now believing he was complicit in the hoax based upon the DNA email and statements made.
Aug 22 - Squatchdetective.com updated to reflect the facts in this matter.
It will be interesting to see if Tom Biscardi and Steve Kulls respond to the accusations in this video. If any of what Dyer is saying is indeed fact, then Pandora's Box may start to open. The first and second videos of this series are very hard to believe, as well as the craziness of these so-called 'Bigfoot Trackers'...in my estimation, it's a stunt designed for a future scheme. But these claims against Biscardi and Kulls had better be factual and provable...or the 'Bigfoot Trackers' may find tort predicaments down the road.
Reports last week that researchers could be just six months away from producing the world’s first artificial meat, using thousands of stem cells bred in a laboratory, sent a wave of fascination around the world. Yet there is an even more ghoulish prospect ahead: the idea of eating artificial food made from humans.
This may sound like science fiction, yet a new technique for making gelatin from human DNA is attracting “increasing interest from research and industrial circles”, according to a new study by scientists from the Beijing University of Chemical Technology. The paper, published recently in the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry, revealed that successful experiments had been carried out in which human genes were inserted into a strain of yeast to “grow” large amounts of recombinant (genetically engineered) human gelatin.
Gelatin has a long history of use as a gelling agent by the food industry – and, according to the journal’s publisher, the American Chemical Society, human-derived gelatin “could become a substitute for some of the 300,000 tons of animal-based gelatin produced annually for desserts, marshmallows, candy and innumerable other products”.
There would be safety issues to consider. When an ice-cream parlour in London began selling flavours derived from human breast milk earlier this year, it was soon withdrawn for hygiene reasons. The Food Standards Agency said: “There would be a restriction on the sale or import of this type of product, because it would require a pre-market safety assessment.”
However, scientists do not believe that the new gelatin product would pose any risk. “There’s a very high degree of similarity between gelatin that comes from a cow, a pig, and a human,” explains Dr David Olsen, senior scientist at FibroGen, which specialises in recombinant gelatins. “So due to their similarities, I can’t see why there would be a health risk to it. It’s a very similar protein to what people have been ingesting for many years.”
In fact, human-derived gelatin is already in use by the pharmaceutical industry in the manufacture of certain pills and vaccines. The highly controlled production techniques of the laboratory offer a more consistent product than “traditional” gelatin, which is made from the bones and skin of pigs and cows. More broadly, human genes are used by pharmaceutical firms in the production of insulin for diabetics, human growth hormone, and erythropoietin, which is used to treat anaemia.
In fact, the Beijing University scientists believe their method offers many health advantages over animal-derived gelatin. Researchers from the Sapporo Medical University of Japan have reported an increase in allergic reactions to animal-derived gelatin in vaccines, but such a response to human material is less likely. Moreover, the risk of gelatin transmitting animal-borne diseases such as BSE would be eliminated.
It remains to be seen, however, whether there is an appetite for human protein among the wider public. Dr Gregory Kaebnick, of the US-based Hastings Center for bioethics and public policy, says the idea of human-derived gelatin “appears to raise the question of cannibalism”, even though such concerns may be misplaced. “The gelatin is not derived from human tissue in the same way that animal gelatin is,” he says. “It’s really derived from yeast – yeast that have been modified with genetic sequences found in human beings.”
This difference may help remove the taboo borne by human-derived food products. “You really wouldn’t see it or recognise it,” says Dr Olsen. “It would almost be part of whatever the food is, and you wouldn’t notice the difference.”
Either way, it won’t appear in the organic aisle any time soon. - telegraph
NOTE: Soylent Green - for those who have no idea what the hell I'm talking about...Lon :)
I have been reading with great interest the stories of the driverless cars. It reminded me very much of the 1967 red Mustang that my brother once owned. This cardid not drive by itself, but it certainly had a mind of its own and it seemed to be bent on trying to kill my brother. I wrote about the story in my very first book many years ago, and since then I have to confess I've often wondered exactly what had been going on with that car.
In 1981 my brother, Terry, purchased an old red Mustang that had caught his eye the local dealership. It was certainly not a practical car for he had five children, but something about the car appealed to him and he bought it. The car handled well enough in the beginning. My sister, who was 15 years old, was also fascinated with the vehicle. It was built in the same year that she was born. At first my brother used to tease her and tell her that when he was done with the car he would give it to her, but then he began to hedge when she asked about the vehicle.
One night Terry and I were sitting in the kitchen talking and he confided to me that there was something terribly wrong with the car. It seemed that about a month earlier the Township the been doing roadwork and had rerouted traffic so that it ran along a highway that actually ran through a local cemetery. There were retaining walls on both sides of the highway to hold back the graves. When they built the road they actually had to move graves further up the hill and it was those graves that threatened to slide down from time to time. Terry told me that each time he drove through the cemetery the car seemed to try and swerve into the retaining wall. He said it was as though someone else grabbed the wheel and stomped their foot down on the gas. He had to wrestle for control of the steering wheel on several time and he had come within inches of striking that retaining wall. Our older brother, Jerry, was known for his mechanical ability and he pulled the braking system apart several times but could find nothing wrong with it. He replaced the steering column and checked every conceivable possibility, but could find nothing wrong with the vehicle. Furthermore, as long as you stayed away from that road that ran through the cemetery, the car did not seem to have any problems. But as soon as they took the car onto the cemetery road, it again tried to strike the retaining wall. It was as if someone else had control the car-- or the car had a mind of its own.
Eventually Terry parked the car because he was afraid to drive it. He put the car in a storage shed and left it there for several years. I know that on several occasions he got the car out and tried to drive it through the cemetery, but each time the car reacted as though someone else wanted him to run into the that wall. Finally, Terry made arrangements for the car to be crashed at a local junkyard. He was afraid that the pretty little car would be spared by someone in the junkyard in its last moments, and so he actually made arrangements to watch the car get crashed. For a man who loved vintage cars, this had to be difficult, but Terry believed that there was something significantly wrong with that vehicle. Any time I hear stories of vehicles that drive themselves, or of cursed or haunted cars, I remember riding in that little red Mustang-- and I remember the fear my brother's face when he told me why the car had to be destroyed.

Close Encounter in Hackensack, NJ
On the morning of 10/22/82 7:30 a.m. I awoke to a real sighting of an unknown object which was over my floor in front of my bed to the left. It was approx. 10"w x 18"h cyclinder shaped, rotating its mass of small round, different sized shapes at an extremely fast speed in a clock wise direction, colored in blues and greens, creating a loud humming sound. This was a starting experience to come in contact with while I was awake and watching it from my bed in total amazement. I almost could not believe this was happening, before my very eyes and ears. I was looking at something that was spinning with centrifugal force that I could not explain. After viewing it for some time I gave myself a reality check and pinched myself. After I realized it was real, beautiful and bizarre I did not know what it was there for or what to do so I walked along the right wall into the next room, the bathroom and I could still hear the humming loud sound it was making so I came out went into bed and watched some more until it disappeared. It did not scare me and it left me with tranquility and joy. - MUFON CMS
Whitley Strieber, 'Communion' Author, Describes Bizarre Encounter With Mystery Man
Is there more than one physical universe? Why is Earth's climate changing so suddenly? At what point will intelligent machines pose a threat to the men and women who invent them, not to mention the rest of humanity?
Many forward-thinking writers have pondered these questions. But none has approached them quite like Whitley Strieber, who says many of his ideas were formed after a mysterious stranger visited him in a hotel room in the middle of the night in 1998.
That's a question Ben & Jerry of ice cream fame are hoping gets answered after they announced the new flavor will be added to their line-up of unusual labels in many of their stores and on supermarket shelves across the country.
Not familiar with the flavor? It's all a cosmic joke, in answer to one of the most popular, and funny, comedy skits played out on Saturday Night Live, with Alec Baldwin as the infamous Schweddy (Schwetty?).
Schweddy Balls ice cream. As part of a spoof on the decidedly laid-back programming on NPR, SNL pulled the goof on one of Baldwin's many hosting shows, poking fun at the innocence, or downright cluelessness, of some of NPR's radio hosts.
In the clip below, the radio hosts are oohing and ahhing over Alec's "Schweddy balls" which are actually a new holiday treat his fictional character is touting on the show. The skit has gone somewhat underground, due to the nature of the double entendre, but apparently Ben & Jerry never forgot it.
Now they're launching a new flavor, named after that infamous pastry, and will sell it in about 30% of their markets, both shops and for home consumption.
According to NPR itself, Pete's delicious Schweddy Balls are made of "vanilla ice cream with a hint of rum and is loaded with fudge covered rum balls and milk chocolate malt balls."
Mmmm... sounds delicious! But just in case the name doesn't ring a bell, have a look at this clip of the original skit.
