Fortean / Alternative News: Lake Van UFO, Ghost Disrupts School and Strange 'Humming' in Ohio

Turkish woman chases UFOs around Lake Van

- Semra Şalvan Cezlan is a civil engineer married with a daughter and the representative of a consultancy firm in the eastern province of Van. It’s an ordinary life, as she put it. But some believe Cezlan is an informer due to her area of interest and yet others think she is schizophrenic. For Cezlan is an “ufologist.” She plans to pitch a tent at Lake Van and observe aliens, because she claims the Lake Van monster is an USO, a type of UFO that knows how to swim.

Cezlan smiles and says, “I don’t have any intention to make others believe.” She seems seasoned to being mocked all the time, even at home.

Cezlan has been doing research on extraterrestrials for a decade. She has helped people who say that they saw a UFO or aliens for the last two years, gets in contact with them, gives the message, “You are not alone,” and explains what probably happens next. Her interest in UFOs goes back to her childhood.

“I was 6 or 7. We were living in Balıkesir. One day, I saw three green creatures in the backyard of the house. They were as tall as I was. Big black eyes, a tiny mouth, two holes in place of a nose. We played together once in a while during a year. When I realized that I was the only one who could see them, I got scared. In fact, they didn’t show up again. Years later, I ran across them in science and technology magazines.”

Could she be affected by films or exaggerating to get attention?

“Let’s say that I had a psychological problem and I made this up. But now, many people say the same thing. Is everyone hallucinating?” she asks.

During her high school years, she dreamed about studying astronomy and space science. But her family did not approve, and so she decided to pursue the same profession as her uncle. She passed the entry exams for Dicle University’s civil engineering department and moved to the southeastern province of Diyarbakır.

In those years, she became acquainted with the Sirius UFO Space Sciences Research Center in Istanbul. The creatures that once played with her appear like small rough models. She begins her research again in a place where she feels she is best understood. As Cezlan examines the reptilian-like creatures, she feeds a water snake, a lizard and even a tarantula. Since her UFO prince never appears, Cezlan marries her classmate and settles down where she was born, in Van. She works as a civil engineer for a firm but never loses interest in UFOs though her husband says, “Don’t get involved in those.”

She begins to tell about the gray ones among green, blue and gray, reptilian-like and human-like creatures. “The gray ones are very curious but neutral. They are very developed in genetic engineering. They removed the senses of pain, love and happiness by modifying their genes.” She knows about these creatures through stories told by people who were kidnapped by the gray ones.

“Extraterrestrial creatures are mostly seen in Bursa, Zonguldak, Kayseri and Antalya. In other words, they are seen in areas rich with underground natural resources. Van is also rich with resources, as some people say there is uranium here. I believe the aliens must have set up a base underneath Lake Van.”

Cezlan says there are thousands of UFO researchers in Turkey. “I know 500 of them in person. We are two females among them.”

“I receive phone calls every day. My mailbox is full. There are people calling me from the United States, Sydney and even from Iran. We will soon establish an association in Istanbul,” she says.

Cezlan says she is a Muslim and practices her daily prayers, but is not interested in science fiction movies.

NOTE: There is a lot of strange activity and gruesome history associated with the area in and around Lake Van, Turkey. Here are a few links: Recent Sighting of the Van Canavari (Lake Van Monster) and In the Shadow of Ararat...Lon

Strange 'Humming' in Ohio

MUFON CMS - Ohio: On the morning of Dec. 29th 2010 at 5:50AM I was awoken by a noise that sounded like it came from the kitchen. No one else was home at the time. I live in a ranch with the bedrooms on the far side of the house from the kitchen The kitchen faces toward the rear of the house. The noise sounded like a low hum that a high voltage transformer makes under load. I am an electrician so I have heard this sound numerous times. I got up and went over towards the kitchen expecting to find a cell phone or pager vibrating. The sound appeared to becoming from the counter area next to the sink. I checked the top of the counter and there were no devices operating that would make such a sound. I checked in the drawers below the counter and found nothing. The sound was a continuous hum varying in intensity over a couple of seconds. It was sable and non varying in pitch. I went down into the basement where there is a crawl space directly under the kitchen. The sound was not noticed in the basement. This led me to believe that the noise was external to the house. I live in a development with under ground utilities, there are no transformers hanging from poles in the egress between the houses. The nearest transformer is located across the street and is pad mounted. If the noise had been coming from that direction I would have heard it in the living room which I did not. After concluding that the noise was external to the house I went to the window which is about three feet from the location of the noise and over the kitchen sink. As soon as I touched the curtains over the window the noise stopped. I became frightened and retreated into the living room, I did not have the presence of mind to look outside. The next day at approximately the same time in the morning I heard a large double bladed helicopter pass over the house. I was in the military and am familiar with the sound of these types of helicopters. This is unusual but has happened before as they pass over a couple of times a year, usually during the day. I would be interested to know if anyone else saw or heard anything during that time period or if what I have described has ever been heard by anyone else.

Cannabinoids Kill Cancer and Our Government Has Known for 36 Years

gsalternative - Below is a repost of an article published on Americans for Safe Access website: www.safeaccessnow.org in November of 2003. The article describes how cannabinoids, the active components of marijuana, inhibit tumor growth in laboratory animals and also kill cancer cells. Then it finishes off by saying that the US government has known for more than 35 years and that the media which would normally go crazy about a cancer cure story like this, doesn’t at all and in fact seem to be burying the story rather than promote it in any way. I for one am amazed at the government’s stance on marijuana and their failed war on drugs, which is more like a war on it’s own country. I guess too many people get rich off of the war on drugs. Read the full story after the break.

A new study published in Nature Reviews-Cancer provides an historic and detailed explanation about how THC and natural cannabinoids counteract cancer, but preserve normal cells.

The study by Manuel Guzmán of Madrid Spain found that cannabinoids, the active components of marijuana, inhibit tumor growth in laboratory animals. They do so by modulating key cell-signalling pathways, thereby inducing direct growth arrest and death of tumor cells, as well as by inhibiting the growth of blood vessels that supply the tumor.

The Guzman study is very important according to Dr. Ethan Russo , a neurologist and world authority on medical cannabis: “Cancer occurs because cells become immortalized; they fail to heed normal signals to turn off growth. A normal function of remodelling in the body requires that cells die on cue. This is called apoptosis, or programmed cell death. That process fails to work in tumors. THC promotes its reappearance so that gliomas, leukemias, melanomas and other cell types will in fact heed the signals, stop dividing, and die.”

“But, that is not all,” explains Dr. Russo: “The other way that tumors grow is by ensuring that they are nourished: they send out signals to promote angiogenesis, the growth of new blood vessels. Cannabinoids turn off these signals as well. It is truly incredible, and elegant.”

In other words, this article explains several ways in which cannabinoids might be used to fight cancer, and, as the article says, “Cannabinoids are usually well tolerated, and do not produce the generalized toxic effects of conventional chemotherapies.

Usually, any story that even suggests the possibility of a new treatment for cancer is greeted with headlines about a “cancer cure” – however remote in the future and improbable in fact it might be. But if marijuana is involved, don’t expect any coverage from mainstream media, especially since mainstream editors have been quietly killing this story for the past thirty years…

That’s right, news about the abilility of pot to shrink tumors first surfaced, way back in 1974. Researchers at the Medical College of Virginia, who had been funded by the National Institutes of Health to find evidence that marijuana damages the immune system, found instead that THC slowed the growth of three kinds of cancer in mice — lung and breast cancer, and a virus-induced leukemia.

The Washington Post reported on the 1974 study — in the “Local” section — on Aug. 18, 1974. Under the headline, “Cancer Curb Is Studied,” it read in part: “The active chemical agent in marijuana curbs the growth of three kinds of cancer in mice and may also suppress the immunity reaction that causes rejection of organ transplants, a Medical College of Virginia team has discovered.” The researchers “found that THC slowed the growth of lung cancers, breast cancers, and a virus-induced leukemia in laboratory mice, and prolonged their lives by as much as 36 percent.”

“News coverage of the Madrid discovery has been virtually nonexistent in this country. The news broke quietly on Feb. 29, 2000 with a story that ran once on the UPI wire about the Nature Medicine article,” complained MarijuanaNews.com editor Richard Cowan , who said he was only able to find the article through a link that appeared briefly on the Drudge Report Web page. “The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Los Angeles Times all ignored the story, even though its newsworthiness is indisputable: a benign substance occurring in nature destroys deadly brain tumors,” added Cowan.

On March 29, 2001, the San Antonio Current printed a carefully researched, bombshell of a story by Raymond Cushing titled, “POT SHRINKS TUMORS; GOVERNMENT KNEW IN ‘74.” Media coverage since then has been nonexistant, except for a copy of the story on Alternet.

It is hard to believe that the knowledge that cannabis can be used to fight cancer has been suppressed for almost thirty years , yet it seems likely that it will continue to be suppressed. Why?

According to Cowan, the answer is because it is a threat to cannabis prohibition . “If this article and its predecessors from 2000 and 1974 were the only evidence of the suppression of medical cannabis, then one might perhaps be able to rationalize it in some herniated way. However, there really is massive proof that the suppression of medical cannabis represents the greatest failure of the institutions of a free society, medicine, journalism, science, and our fundamental values,” Cowan notes.

Millions of people have died horrible deaths and in many cases, families exhausted their savings on dangerous, toxic and expensive drugs. Now we are just beginning to realize that while marijuana has never killed anyone, marijuana prohibition has killed millions.

‘Ghost’ forces Kondhwa school to shut

indiaexpress - Sultan Shaikh of Kondhwa is not willing to send his children to school. The children say they are scared to even step into the school as they feel it is haunted. Last Monday, almost all students of Lady Haleema Begum Urdu School, Kondhwa, fled after what they claim was supernatural activity in school.

Five days after the incident, the children are yet to go to school. “If you want to send your children to school then send them, it is not our problem,” this is what the school authorities said according to Shaikh who was bewildered at the claims of the school. Other claims by children include finding random death threats in their notebooks and also seeing an egg-shaped, white ghost on the blackboard.

The authorities of the school have suspended all classes till Monday as parents said the children were scared and did not want to go to the school.

Parvika Khan, the teacher who was conducting an Urdu class for Class 5 last Monday, asked a boy to read the text on the blackboard. But the boy said the blackboard was blank, and ran away screaming that he saw an “egg-shaped ghost” coming out of the blackboard.

It set off panic among students and led to closure of the school for the day.

“It is a conspiracy. Someone wants to defame the school. They must have prompted the boy. We have lodged a police complaint and have sought an inquiry into the matter,” said Rashid Khan, chairman of the Western Maharashtra Educational Trust, which runs the school.
