Skinwalker Chronicles

In the American Southwest, the Navajo, Hopi, Utes, and other tribes each have their own version of the Skinwalker story, but basically they boil down to the same thing - a malevolent witch capable of transforming itself into a wolf, coyote, bear, bird, or any other animal. To the Navajo, yee naaldlooshii is "with it, he goes on all fours", a practitioner of Frenzy Way. The witch might wear the hide or skin of the animal identity it wants to assume, and when the transformation is complete, the human witch inherits the speed, strength, or cunning of the animal whose shape it has taken.

"The Navajo Skinwalkers use mind control to make their victims do things to hurt themselves and even end their lives," writes Doug Hickman, a New Mexico educator. "The Skinwalker is a very powerful witch. They can run faster than a car and can jump mesa cliffs without any effort at all."

The Navajo believe that Skinwalkers have the power to steal the “skin” or body of a person. That if you engage eyes with a Skinwalker they can immerse themselves into your body. Skinwalkers avoid bright light and their eyes glow like an animal’s when in human form. When in their animal form their eyes don’t glow as an animal’s would.

In the ancient Hopi culture there was a ritual ceremony once performed, called the Ya Ya Ceremony. In this ceremony, members would convert themselves into assorted animals utilizing the hides from the animal they selected, and the members use certain animals for their attributes. The coyote skin is for high-velocity, precise sense of smell, and the acute agility. The bear skin is for brute force, but not a good choice for speed.

When in animal form the Skinwalker will retain their wits and because of this they make a really dangerous adversary. Also unlike the werewolf, they have a whole bag of tricks that includes immobilizing powder, mind control, and even disease.

The following videos from J.C. Johnson of Crypto Four Corners offer some interesting perspective to the Skinwalker phenomenon:

According to University of Nevada-Las Vegas anthropologist Dan Benyshek, who specializes in the study of Native Americans of the Southwest, "Skinwalkers are purely evil in intent. I'm no expert on it, but the general view is that Skinwalkers do all sorts of terrible things - they make people sick, they commit murders. They are graverobbers and necrophiliacs. They are greedy and evil people who must kill a sibling or other relative to be initiated as a Skinwalker. They supposedly can turn into were-animals and can travel in supernatural ways."

Anthropologist David Zimmerman of the Navajo Nation Historic Preservation Department explains: "Skinwalkers are folks that possess knowledge of medicine, medicine both practical (heal the sick) and spiritual (maintain harmony), and they are both wrapped together in ways that are nearly impossible to untangle."

Among the Navajo, for instance, medicine men train over a period of many years to become full-fledged practitioners in the mystical rituals of the Dine' (Navajo) people. The medicine men have shown themselves to be effective in treating a range of ailments according to the U.S. Public Health Service. But, there is also a dark side. Witches follow some of the same training and obtain similar knowledge as their more benevolent colleagues, but they supplement both with their pursuit of the dark arts, or black magic. By Navajo law, a known witch has forfeited its status as a human and can be killed at will. The assumption is that a witch, by definition, is evil.

The cautious Navajo will not speak openly about Skinwalkers, especially with strangers, because to do so might invite the attention of an evil witch. After all, a stranger who asks questions about Skinwalkers just might be one himself, looking for his next victim.

I live close to the reservation just outside Mesa, Arizona. I have a couple of Native friends who I just recently went camping with around 20 miles outside the valley to a place they call Three Poles. This place is considered holy land in their eyes and is close to a river. There are numerous stories I know about this place, such as the flute player you can hear at night or the boulder-sized splashes you hear in the river. But the most notable are the stories of the skinwalkers.

We arrived at the camping site around 9 p.m. It was already dark, so we started to unpack and made a fire. Once that was done, my Native buddies put up the barriers and puffed the smoke of tobacco upon us as a personal barrier. They told me never to go anywhere alone and that around 3 a.m. is when the spirits are the most active. Around 2 a.m. the beating of a drum became very clear; this is a sign of the skinwalker, they told me. At around 3 a.m., the smell of wet dog became apparent. This is the sign of either two things: Hoofy, an extremely evil spirit; or the skinwalkers.

The fire grew small and we could see the shadows of animals. We all decided to move to another site in the morning. As first light dawned, we packed. I sat in the back of his truck to hold down the stuff. As we left, I saw a rottweiler walking on its hind legs straight to the middle of our camp. It was easily 5 feet tall and had bright orange eyes. I freaked out and screamed as it was running at us, still standing up. It disappeared into a bush after we turned the corner.

Later on at our other camp, an old man with his face covered up by hair visited us and acted very strangely. We ran out of drinks, so a friend and I decided to head out on foot (no car; a friend had to take it home). We saw a car. As it approached, it slowed down to a halt and the same man asked if we wanted a ride. We said no because by this time my friends had told me the man was a skinwalker. He grabbed my arm and pulled me by his car and looked straight at me. As my friend ran up to grab me, the man took off in his car.

Once we got back, I relaxed. It was around dawn when just behind me the man appeared about 10 feet away and asked if I could help him with something back at his camp. As he did, two trucks came around the corner to head further into the grounds. He watched them as they passed and then all of a sudden he bolted after them. I was astonished seeing this 60-year-old man chasing down a car. My native friends put up a salt barrier. I heard sounds all night, but never saw anything after that. - Levi D. (

As a teenager, I would visit my grandma at her home on the Navajo rez for several weeks every summer. I loved to spend time with her, eat her delicious fried bread, and hear her tell us stories. Every so often my grandma would hire a worker (the harmless town drunk) to do odd jobs around her house and property. One evening right before the sun went down, I was asked by my grandma to take him home, which was about four miles out of the valley where she lived. I was more than happy to, seeing that I was only 14 years old and was asked to drive a truck! Mind you that on the rez, nobody cares that you're only 14 years old and driving around. Hell, there's hardly anybody around to see you anyway! So my 9 year old brother jumped in the truck cab with me while this "worker" and my dog shared the tailgate of the truck and we were off. After I dropped the worker off at the shack that he and his brothers called a house, we headed back down the road to grandmas. As I mentioned before, it was evening and the sky was a deep red as the sun began to set behind us. We were leaving a nice dust trail from the dirt road and the radio was playing music from the only radio station that could be picked up from the nearest town of Holbrook, Arizona.

There was nothing unusual, nothing weird. It was at this time that my eye caught movement of something in the bushes a little up the road to the right of us. I remember slowing down thinking that it was one of the many free roaming sheep in the area that would dart out in front of the truck. As I passed where I thought I saw it, I sped up thinking nothing else of it. Then out of nowhere I just felt this dark feeling of fear and dread. I had no idea why I was feeling this way but I definitely felt that something was wrong.

As I play this memory back in my mind, there are only a few clear memories that I have of that evening. I clearly remember looking in my rearview mirror and seeing the dark silhouette of something very tall and very skinny that seemed to be covered with some kind of hair or fur running behind the truck after us! Whatever it was, it wasn't a normal human or human at all. I remember hearing my brother crying and my dog barking ferociously at whatever was chasing us. I remember speeding very fast and shaking violently as the truck bounced on the washboard dirt road. I distinctly remember that this thing was only getting closer as my brother cried "it's coming up on your side!" I remember being as scared as hell and thinking that I didn't want to die. At the moment that I thought would be our last. I remember speeding around a bend in the road and seeing a car coming towards us in the opposite direction. At that moment I felt instant relief and felt that whatever was following us was gone.

Shaken up but alive, we made it to grandma's house wondering what the hell had just happened. We ran inside not looking back, hoping that whatever was chasing us had not followed us home. As we told my grandma about our experience she didn't seem too surprised, which surprised us. She continued by repeating stories that we had already heard at one point or another about black magic, witches, and something that the Navajos call Yee Nadlooshii or Skinwalkers. Needless to say, I didn't even want to look out any of the windows at all the rest of that night. As a matter of fact, I never drove on the reservation at night until I was 21 years old.

Without going too deep into explanation, I'll just say that these Skin-walkers are evil men and spirits that use black magic for evil doing. I tell you that as farfetched as it may sound, they are real! I believe that if God and his greatness are real, the devil is equally as real and also has his ways of showing himself.

This may not sound very scary to some readers and that may be due to my lack of writing skills. But what happened that evening really did happen and scared the living crap out of me. I invite anybody to visit this part of Arizona if you have any doubt or want huge scare. I promise you that you won't be disappointed.

I hope that you enjoyed my story and I look forward to sharing other experiences soon. - Tracker337

Between Crownpoint, New Mexico and Borrego Pass on Navajo Tribal Road 48. I am a non-Native American who has lived and worked on the Navajo Indian Reservation as a school teacher on several different occasions. The most recent gig was from November, 1997 to June, 2000. As a life-long resident of New Mexico, I have driven hundreds of thousands of miles, with tens of thousands of those miles at night. I consider myself a very experienced night time driver, where I have seen just about every type of mammal and animal, both wild and domestic, that New Mexico has. I've seen deer, elk, cattle, horses, sheep, dogs, cats, rabbits, mountain lion, badgers, skunks, porcupines, etc., while driving at night. I recognized them all.

When I first started working at Borrego Pass School in 1997, I was making a home visit to one of my students. His name was Billy (named changed). Billy was a very intelligent boy, with a higher than average I.Q. He told me on that visit that their neighbor (a mile away) was a "skinwalker". I scoffed at Billy and said something like, "There is no such thing." But Billy insisted, saying that the neighbor changed into an animal and came to their house and looked into the windows. This was all very interesting to me, but I pretty much forgot about what he said.

Around 1998, I started teaching night classes at Dine College in Crownpoint. Teaching astronomy, class would end around 10:00 p.m., and I would head back home to Borrego Pass, 18 miles to the east. One night after class, about 10:15 p.m., sometime in the spring (April or May) of 2000, I was driving my 1998 Ford Escort on Navajo Tribal Road 48. I drove about 50 mph because of the possibility of horses and livestock in the roadway. I always noted Billy's house off the road at about the halfway point to my home. It was one of my "waypoints".

It was about this time that suddenly something weird passed from right to left in front of my car's headlights. This was the strangest creature or object I've ever encountered on the road. It was a large, shapeless hole that did not reflect any light whatsoever. My car's headlight's simply disappeared and were swallowed into the darkness of this mass. I saw no definite shape, no legs, no head, no eyes -- just a shapeless black hole. I have never seen anything thing quite like it, before or since, but whatever it was, gave me the creeps.

I remember getting scared and speeding up. I pushed the car's speed up to 65 mph and got to my little duplex at Borrego Pass ASAP. I got into the apartment as quickly and locked the door behind me. I then sat in the living room, trying to figure out what I saw.

The next day, I told one of my Navajo friends what I saw. His jaw dropped. He immediately said it was a skinwalker, but I had nothing to worry about since they can't harm white men. Still, it was weird. I have told this story to several Navajos and they have all pretty much come to the same conclusion that it was a skinwalker. Weird stuff, for sure. A logical explanation says it was a black dog or black bear, but it's more fun to think of it as a skinwalker.

This happened one night, but not the same night as my skinwalker encounter: One night, when driving back from Gallup, New Mexico, I was being tailgated by a Ford Bronco (the old original type) that was driving without headlights. I wrote this off as a guy using me as his lights since his didn't work...or he was drunk...or both. I sped up as fast as I could to shake him. I don't remember what happened, but obviously he did not follow me back to Borrego. - MM (

Strange Sightings Over Santa Monica, CA

Click for video

This happened on December 1st, 2010 at 5:09pm on a walk in Santa Monica California. My wife and I were walking west about 17 blocks from the ocean when we saw these bizarre objects in the sky. It happened so fast, I barely was able to film… and I went off the objects to get a better vantage point, so only caught them for a brief moment at the beginning of the film. I really messed up the recording because I didn’t know how fast it would all happen. Fortunately I caught a brief moment of the objects using my iPhone. I have NO IDEA what they were… but as you can see… they were big and high in the air (seemingly over the ocean) and shooting off some kind of myst, contrail or light. The top one changed directions twice that you can see on the film if you forward through the beginning frame by frame. Both objects were dropping really fast. When I was walking across the street to get a better vantage point, the iPhone was unable to refocus the light, and you can’t really see much after I cross the street… but you can hear in my voice that the objects were weaving back and forth like the “Silver Surfer”. These things just dropped super fast. They had these crazy short contrails… and weaved back and forth as they dropped. There were not any planes visible that the objects could have been dropped out of… and WHAT THE HELL were the contrails coming off of them?!?! It really looked like the “Silver Surfer” from a cartoon. Crazy… and I have no idea what they were… but just wanted to share. I wish I had a better vantage point when I was filming. It does not look nearly as impressive on-screen, but I tell you that seeing it was totally wild and bizarre. At least you can see how about how big the objects were, what they looked like with the contrails, and that they were changing directions and dropping rapidly. I am just glad I caught even a moment of it on film. Anybody else see anything like this before? Anyone else see this that night in Santa Monica? Maybe someone knows what they were.

Claim: 3 Very Large Objects In Space Flying To Earth

SETI Astrophysicist Craig Kasnov has announced the approach to the Earth of 3 very large, very fast moving objects. The length of the "flying saucers" is in the range of tens of kilometers. Landing, according to calculations of scientists, should be in mid-December 2012. Date coincides with the end of the Mayan calendar.

A few very large objects rapidly approaching the Earth - says SETI astrophysicist Craig Kasnov. Don’t take his word for it you can check it out for yourself. He recommends to go to the site and enter the coordinates of the giant UFO:

19 25 12 -89 46 03 - the first large object
16 19 35 -88 43 10 - a cylindrical object
02 26 39 -89 43 13 - the object as a circle

The project participants are assured that the facilities are absolutely real, and the American space agency NASA is trying to conceal important information.

None of these objects can be seen from the northern hemisphere. The second set of numbers in each line tells us that the "object" or "objects" is/are coming in from very deep in the southern hemisphere sky.

Holy Thorn Tree of Glastonbury cut down in 'strike at heart of Christianity'

swns - Callous vandals have destroyed one of the most celebrated Christian pilgrimage sites in Britain and chopped down a tree that can trace its roots back 2,000 years to the death of Jesus. The Holy Thorn Tree of Glastonbury, Somerset, is claimed to have sprouted from the staff of Joseph of Arimathea, who prepared the burial tomb for Jesus after lifting him off the cross. Thousands visit the site near Glastonbury Tor to pay homage and leave tokens of worship – but many were left in tears on Thursday after finding the tree cut to a stump.

The sacred tree is unique in that it blossoms twice a year – at Christmas and Easter – and sprigs taken from the thorn are sent to The Queen each year for the festive table. Vandals had hacked off the branches of the iconic tree, leaving just part of the trunk remaining – and dumped the remains of its proud thorns on the ground. Police believe religious fanatics may have deliberately targeted the holy site - visited by thousands of pilgrims each year – overnight.

Locals wept openly at the foot of the historic tree, on the town’s Wearyall Hill opposite its world-famous Tor, as they struggled to contain their emotion. Katherine Gorbing, curator of Glastonbury Abbey, said: ”The mindless vandals who have hacked down this tree have struck at the heart of Christianity. It holds a very special significance all over the world and thousands follow in the footsteps of Joseph Arimathea, coming especially to see it.

”It is the most significant of all the trees planted here and can be linked back to the origins of Christianity. When I arrived at the Abbey this morning you could look over to the hill and see it was not there. It’s a great shock to everyone in Glastonbury – the landscape of the town has changed overnight.”

Kawah Ijen by Night - Photographer Olivier Grunewald has recently made several trips into the sulfur mine in the crater of the Kawah Ijen volcano in East Java, Indonesia, bringing with him equipment to capture surreal images lit by moonlight, torches, and the blue flames of burning molten sulfur. Covered last year in the Big Picture (in daylight), the miners of the 2,600 meter tall (8,660ft) Kawah Ijen volcano trek up to the crater, then down to the shore of a 200-meter-deep crater lake of sulfuric acid, where they retrieve heavy chunks of pure sulfur to carry back to a weighing station. Mr. Grunewald has been kind enough to share with us the following other-worldly photos of these men as they do their hazardous work under the light of the moon. George Washington's Vision and American Prophecy

Many believe the story to be authentic, but most historians believe it is a legend, similar to the story of George Washington chopping down the cherry tree. Historians point out the story of the angelic vision was unknown during Washington’s life. It is first found in the writings of Charles Alexander (1836-1927) who wrote fictional “dream” stories about many famous Americans. Alexander wrote that in 1859, a 99-year-old man named Anthony Sherman, who claimed to have been an aide to George Washington, confided to the author. In the National Tribune, 1880, an article appeared giving an account of the "Vision of Washington" at Valley Forge. The article was reprinted in the Stars and Stripes on December 21, 1950.

The soldier mentioned as having a first-hand account of the "Vision," Anthony Sherman, was a soldier in the Continental Army. However, according to his pension application, written by him, he states that he was at Saratoga under the command of Benedict Arnold at the end of 1777 and only joined the main forces in 1778 in New Jersey just before the Battle of Monmouth.

Anthony Sherman wrote:

You doubtless heard the story of Washington's going to the thicket to pray in secret for aid and comfort from God, the interposition of whose Divine Providence brought us safely through the darkest days of tribulation. One day, I remember it well, when the chilly winds whistled through the leafless trees, though the sky was cloudless and the sun shown brightly, he remained in his quarters nearly all the afternoon alone. When he came out, I noticed that his face was a shade paler than usual. There seemed to be something on his mind of more than ordinary importance. Returning just after dusk, he dispatched an orderly to the quarters who was presently in attendance. After a preliminary conversation of about an hour, Washington, gazing upon his companion with that strange look of dignity which he alone commanded, related the event that occurred that day.

"I do not know whether it is owing to the anxiety of my mind, or what, but this afternoon, as I was sitting at this table engaged in preparing a dispatch, something seemed to disturb me. Looking up, I beheld standing opposite me a singularly beautiful female. So astonished was I, for I had given strict orders not to be disturbed, that it was some moments before I found language to inquire into the cause of her presence. A second, a third, and even a fourth time did I repeat my question, but received no answer from my mysterious visitor except a slight raising of her eyes. By this time I felt strange sentiments spreading through me. I would have risen, but the riveted gaze of the being before me rendered volition impossible. I assayed once more to address her, but my tongue had become useless, even thought itself had become paralyzed. A new influence, mysterious, potent, irresistible, took possession of me. All I could do was to gaze steadily, vacantly at my unknown visitor. Gradually, the surrounding atmosphere seemed as though becoming filled with sensations and luminous. Everything about me seemed to rarify, the mysterious visitor herself becoming more airy, and yet more distinct to my sight than before. I now began to feel as one dying, or rather to experience the sensations which I have sometimes imagined accompany dissolution. I did not think, I did not reason, I did not move; all were alike impossible. I was only conscious of gazing fixedly, vacantly at my companion.

"Presently I heard a voice saying, 'Son of the Republic, look and learn,' while at the same time my visitor extended her arm eastwardly. I now beheld a heavy white vapor at some distance rising fold upon fold. This gradually dissipated, and I looked upon a strange scene. Before me lay spread out in one vast plain all the countries of the world -- Europe, Asia, Africa, and America. I saw rolling and tossing between Europe and America the billows of the Atlantic, and between Asia and America lay the Pacific. 'Son of the Republic,' said the same mysterious voice as before, 'look and learn.'

"At that moment I beheld a dark, shadowy being, like an angel floating in mid-air, between Europe and America, dipping water out of the ocean in the hollow of each hand. He sprinkled some upon America with his right hand, while with his left hand he cast some on Europe. Immediately a dark cloud raised from these countries and joined in mid-ocean. For a while it remained stationary, and then moved slowly westward, until it enveloped America in its murky folds. Sharp flashes of lightning passed through it at intervals, and I heard the smothered groans and cries of the American people.

"A second time the angel dipped water from the ocean, and sprinkled it out as before. The dark cloud was then drawn back to the ocean, in whose heaving billows it sank from view. A third time I heard the mysterious voice saying, 'Son of the Republic, look and learn.' I cast my eyes upon America and beheld villages and towns and cities springing up one after another until the whole land from the Atlantic to the Pacific was dotted with them. Again I heard the mysterious voice say, 'Son of the Republic, the end of the century cometh, look and learn.'

"At this the dark, shadowy angel turned his face southward, and from Africa I saw an ill-omened spectre approach our land. It flitted slowly over every town and city. The inhabitants presently set themselves in battle array against each other. As I continued looking, I saw a bright angel, on whose brow rested a crown of light, on which was traced the word "Union," bearing the American flag, which he placed between the divided nation, and said, 'Remember ye are brethren.' Instantly the inhabitants, casting from them their weapons, became friends once more and united around the National Standard.

"And again I heard the mysterious voice saying, 'Son of the Republic, look and learn.' At this the dark, shadowy angel placed a trumpet to his mouth and blew three distinct blasts; and taking water from the ocean, he sprinkled it upon Europe, Asia, and Africa. Then my eyes beheld a fearful scene: from each of these countries arose thick, black clouds that were joined into one. And throughout this mass there gleamed a dark red light by which I saw hordes of armed men, who, moving with the cloud, marched by land and sailed by sea to America, which country was enveloped in the volume of the cloud. And I dimly saw these vast armies devastate the whole country and burn the villages, towns, and cities that I beheld were springing up. As my ears listened to the thundering of the cannon, clashing of swords, and the shouts and cries of millions in mortal combat, I heard again the mysterious voice saying, 'Son of the Republic, look and learn.' When the voice had ceased, the dark, shadowy angel placed his trumpet once more to his mouth and blew a long and fearful blast.

"Instantly a light as of a thousand suns shone down from above me, and pierced and broke into fragments the dark cloud which enveloped America. At the same moment the angel, upon whose head still shone the word "Union," and who bore our national flag in one hand and a sword in the other, descended from the heavens, attended by legions of white spirits. These immediately joined the inhabitants of America, who I perceived were well-nigh overcome, but who immediately taking courage again, closed up their broken ranks and renewed the battle. Again, amid the fearful noise of the conflict, I heard the mysterious voice saying, 'Son of the Republic, look and learn.' As the voice ceased, the shadowy angel for the last time dipped water from the ocean and sprinkled it upon America. Instantly the dark cloud rolled back, together with the armies it had brought, leaving the inhabitants of the land victorious.

"Then once more I beheld the villages, towns, and cities springing up where I had seen them before, while the bright angel, planting the azure standard he had brought in the midst of them, cried with a loud voice, 'While the stars remain, and the heavens send down dew upon the earth, so long shall the Union last.' And taking from his brow the crown on which was blazoned the word "Union," he placed it upon the Standard, while the people, kneeling down, said, 'Amen.'

"The scene instantly began to fade and dissolve, and I at last saw nothing but the rising, curling vapor I at first beheld. This also disappearing, I found myself once more gazing upon the mysterious visitor, who, in the same voice I had heard before, said, 'Son of the Republic, what you have seen is thus interpreted: Three great perils will come upon the Republic. The most fearful is the third, passing which the whole world united shall not prevail against her. Let every child of the Republic learn to live for his God, his land, and the Union.' With these words the vision vanished, and I started from my seat, and felt that I had seen a vision wherein had been shown me the birth, progress, and destiny of the United States."

"Such, my friends," concluded the venerable narrator, "were the words I heard from General Washington's own lips, and America will do well to profit by them." - Anthony Sherman

"Of all the dispositions and habits, which lead to political prosperity, Religion and Morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of Men and Citizens. The mere Politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them. A volume could not trace all their connexions with private and public felicity. Let it simply be asked, Where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths, which are the instruments of investigation in Courts of Justice? And let us with caution indulge the supposition, that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect, that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle."

NOTE: many U.S. Presidents and military leaders had a prophetic's something that seems to go hand-in-hand with our nation's history. Much of what was said and conducted by our founding fathers has been lost to time but it is quite apparent that their esoteric beliefs, including Masonic rites and Rosicrucian ideals, demonstrate their mystic predispositions and the basis for which the United States was created. Incredible salamander enzyme that could one day let humans regrow organs and limbs

dailymail - Amputees could regenerate limbs and organs thanks to scientists who have come close to discovering how salamanders grow back lost legs and damaged organs.

Axolotl salamanders are now going under the knife - while anaesthetised - in experiments at the Hanover Medical School in Germany.

The hope is one day for their genes to be transplanted to people who lose limbs and organs only to see them re-grow.

The axolotl salamander is able to regrow its limbs and even damaged organs.

'Coagulation sets in instantly,' scientist Björn Menger told Germany‘s Spiegel magazine this week. 'You can almost watch the healing process happening.'

They can even grow back sections of their brains and spinal columns, raising hopes that disabled people might one day be able to walk if such feats can be copied.

Ambystoma mexicanum is almost extinct in Mexico due to diminishing habitats and human hunting - they are regarded as a delicacy in much the way the French like frogs legs.

Scientists experimenting on a batch of them in Hanover notice that after a limb has been amputated a layer of skin cells forms from the cells at the spot of the incision.

Scar tissue forms underneath and new tissue begin to grow, such as blood vessels, muscles, sinews, bones and nerves. The researchers are homing in on a particular enzyme called amblox which makes the axolotl unique in the animal kingdom.

The grail is to create amblox artificially. Initial tests on human skin cells have been encouraging; wounds do heal faster, skin grows back at an accelerated pace. But a breakthrough in terms of regenerating limbs and organs is a long way off.

All animals can regenerate to some degree. A human fingertip can sometimes grow back and cuts often heal with minimal scarring.

In salamanders, the blood vessels contract quickly and limit bleeding when a limb is cut. Skin cells quickly cover the wound and form what is called a blastema.

Researchers thought these cells must be pluripotent stem cells -- the body's master cells, which retain the ability to start growing into any kind of cell in the body.

These cells are found in days-old embryos, but quickly differentiate -- becoming the various cell types from muscle to nerve to skin or blood.
The Hanover research centre also acts to save the axolotl as a species.

After experimentation on an individual, it is allowed to live out its life in peace - with its new limbs back in place.

"Spiritual" Suitcase Contained Elephant Tails, Hedgehog

baltimoresun - Press releases from the Customs and Border Protection never cease to amaze with the strange items seized from people coming into the country.

Today, the agency said that a passenger arriving at Dulles from Ghana - and destined for Maryland - on Dec. 3 tried to pass through with a suitcase containing a hedgehog, elephant tails, chameleons, skins from genets (a cat-like species indigenous to Africa), seed pods, sheets soaked with the blood of sacrificed chickens, and "a lot of soil." He said the items were for "spiritual purposes."

The 59-year-old passenger had initially told agents that his suitcase contained dried herbs and clothing.

“This is by far one of the strangest suitcases we’re ever opened. The passenger told us that the items were to be used for spiritual purposes. From what we were able to learn, the items seem consistent with that explanation,” said Christopher Hess, CBP Port Director for the Port of Washington. “Regardless of its intended purpose, each item posed potentially severe animal and plant disease threats to American agriculture. Customs and Border Protection agriculture specialists were required to destroy them.”

theweeklyconstitutional - Maybe this is just a sign of the troubling times we are all living in. Maybe it is more proof that zealots everywhere are right and that our world is truly on the doorstep of Armageddon. Or maybe it is another horrible story coming out of Africa, a place as close to Hell on Earth as it gets.

Any way you slice it, it's being reported by the US State Department that the ritual sacrifice of humans (especially children) is on the rise in Uganda.

The practice of human sacrifice is on the rise in Uganda, as measured by ritual killings where body parts, often facial features or genitals, are cut off for use in ceremonies. The number of people killed in ritual murders last year rose to a new high of at least 15 children and 14 adults, up from just three cases in 2007, according to police. The informal count is much higher — 154 suspects were arrested last year and 50 taken to court over ritual killings.

Children in particular are common victims, according to a U.S. State Department report released this month. The U.S. spent $500,000 to train 2,000 Ugandan police last year to investigate offences related to human trafficking, including ritual killings.

Apparently, over the past few years the ritual killing and maiming of people (especially children) has been so rampant in Uganda that the nation's government ordered its police force to establish an "Anti-Human Sacrifice Taskforce", complete with its own specially made propaganda which reads "Prevent child sacrifice".

Despite these efforts however, the rise in human sacrifices in Uganda appears to come from a desire for wealth and a belief that drugs made from human organs can bring riches, according to task force head Moses Binoga. They may be fueled by a spate of violent Nigerian films that are growing in popularity, and showcase a common story line: A family reaping riches after sacrificing a human.

"I call it a problem of psychological disorientation," said Binoga. "People get disoriented. People stop having respect in humanity and believe more in the worth of money and so-called good fortune, and they lose that natural social respect for people."

The sacrifices are also linked to a deep belief in traditional healers, or witch doctors, which can be found practically every half mile in Uganda.

"A traditional healer with powers over spirits. Solves all cases, demons, thieves, tooth decay, madness fevers, epilepsy, and genital affairs."

Other than increasing enforcement of anti-sacrificing laws and educating the poor people of that nation that good fortunes do not come pouring out of the opened bodies of sacrificial toddlers, no solution can be seen for this rising epidemic viewed by many international entities (including our own government) as just more bad shit coming out of a worse place.

Australian Teen Claims Video Capture of Alien Creature

Click for video

tweednews - Alex Player has captured footage of what appears to be a mysterious alien creature moving in his backyard.

The 16-year-old Bilambil Heights resident has captured four different encounters with the alien creature on film and believes the creature has entered his home.

“The first time I saw it was the clearest. It was not that tall – only as high as the grass – and a grey colour with a big head,” Alex said.

“It didn’t make a single sound. I’m a believer but I have never seen anything like this before. I’m open to the idea.

“Who would be out in that area late at night? I don’t think it could be anything else.”

The images were captured on October 5, October 24, November 20 and November 28 on a video camera and mobile phone.

Alex said the being entered his home on one occasion.

“In early November it came into the house. I think it came from my mum’s room and through the house,” Alex said.

“My mum and I sat in my room. It moved through the house in two minutes.

“Then we heard a thud outside, like it was jumping off the veranda.”

Alex said he placed the footage on video sharing site Youtube and received many comments from users.

The footage he shot of the first October encounter has been used in an independently-produced documentary entitled Gone with the UFO’s, to be released on DVD in 2011.

UFO Research Queensland sightings officer Martin Gottschall said movement could be a deciding factor when looking for alien activity.

“There are certain types of movement that I recognise as belonging to a UFO,” Mr Gottschall said.

However, he said he did not see that kind of movement in Alex’s video recording and he was not convinced the recording depicted an alien.

“UFOs can hover and make no sound or shoot off at a high speed. In the footage you cannot see if the creature is hovering,” Mr Gottschall said.

UFO Research Queensland Incorporated is a voluntary, non-profit association established in 1956 to receive, record and research UFO sightings.

It proposes there exists, and has for many years, a large body of well-attested sightings which are so unambiguous that the only reasonable inference is that extraterrestrial vehicles are flying through the atmosphere, landing on the ground and entering the oceans.

NOTE: there is definitely something in the bush but it's very difficult to see what it is...unless there's a kangaroo hopping around with a flashlight. I really don't know what to make of it...but I am skeptical, though curious. This footage is supposed to be part of an upcoming documentary. I'd like to read some of the home invasion report as well (if available)...Lon

Fortean / Oddball News: Massive Dark Object, Mysterious Withering Wheat and Faith Healing Trial

Massive Dark Object 'lurking on edge of solar system hurling comets at Earth'

dailymail - A massive dark object may be lurking on the edge of our solar system, according to scientists.

Most comets that fly into the inner solar system seem to come from the outer region of the Oort cloud - a region of icy dust and debris left over from the birth of the solar system.

The cloud starts from a point about 93 billion miles from the Sun and stretches for around three light years and contains billions of comets, most of them small and hidden.

Now new calculations suggest a large object that is up to four times as big as Jupiter could be responsible for sending them in our direction.

The scientists have analysed the comets in the Oort cloud and deduced that 25 per-cent of them would need a nudge by a body of at least Jupiter size before they changed orbit.

Astrophysicists John Matese and Daniel Whitmire at the University of Louisiana came up with theory said that 'something smaller than a Jovian mass would not be strong enough to perform the task'.

They believe that our solar system has a hidden 'companion' that has so far remained undetected.

The scientists have been studying the cloud using WISE, Nasa's infra-red space telescope that is capable of detecting dark objects.

Matese said: 'I think this whole issue will be resolved in the next five to 10 years, because there’s surveys coming on line that will dwarf the comet sample we have today.

'Whether these types of asymmetries in the directions that comets are coming from actually do exist or not will definitely be hammered out by those surveys,' Matese added. 'We anticipate that WISE is going to falsify or verify our conjecture.'

About 3,200 long-period comets are known, one of the most famous being Hale-Bopp which was visible to even the naked eye during 1996 and 1997.

Halley's Comet, which reappears about every 75 years, is a 'short-period' comet from a different part of the Solar System called the Kuiper Belt.

If it exists the new planet is so freezing cold it is difficult to spot, researchers said.

It could be found up to 30,000 astronomical units from the sun. One AU is the distance between the Earth and the sun, about 93 million miles.

Scientists have already proposed that a hidden star, which they call 'Nemesis,' might exist a light-year or so away from our sun.

They suggest that during its orbit it would regularly enter the Oort cloud, jostling the orbits of many comets there and causing some to fall toward Earth.

These occasional comet showers could be why the mass extinctions on Earth are so regular, some scientists believe.

The research appeared in the online edition of the journal Icarus.

'Most planetary scientists would not be surprised if the largest undiscovered companion was Neptune-sized or smaller, but a Jupiter-mass object would be a surprise,' Matese told

'If the conjecture is indeed true, the important implications would relate to how it got there — touching on the early solar environment — and how it might have affected the subsequent distributions of comets and, to a lesser extent, the known planets.'

Mysterious Withering Wheat

capitalpress - The Oregon Department of Agriculture and Oregon State University are investigating the yellowing of upward of 40,000 acres of wheat in Umatilla and Morrow counties.

So far, the cause is a mystery, and researchers do not know if the problems in the two counties are related.

In early November, Umatilla County growers noticed wheat fields turning yellow and dying, OSU Extension soil scientist Don Wysocki said.

Sixteen fields from three to 10 miles northwest of Pendleton were affected, Wysocki said. They are "more or less but not completely contiguous," he said. Not every field in the area was affected.

The area was predominately planted to soft white Clearfield variety ORCF-102, but other varieties were also affected, Wysocki said.

"There's probably more than one thing going on in these particular fields, like in any field," he said.

OSU Morrow County Extension associate professor Larry Lutcher said 30,000 to 40,000 acres of wheat in his county have plants with yellow or purple tips. The discoloration spreads inward and downward on the leaf. In some cases, plants are completely desiccated and will not recover.

The symptoms have been observed in many fields in the county, Lutcher said, but do not appear tied to any particular location.

"Most of the symptoms in Morrow County are unlike anything I have ever seen," Lutcher said.

Lutcher said he doesn't believe the problem will spread to other fields, but he can't be certain.

"This does appear to be a new problem -- a problem that no one seems to have experience with," he said.

Neither Lutcher nor Wysocki were sure if the circumstances in the two counties were connected.

"The big question on everyone's mind right now is, how will the crop look this spring and will replanting be necessary?" Lutcher said.

Oregon Department of Agriculture Special Assistant to the Director Brent Searle said the department was contacted by farmers in early November.

The department sampled and tested the fields, but final results are not yet in.

Preliminary samples showed some root pathogen issues, but Searle said the investigation is still in the information-gathering stage.

The department and university sent surveys to growers asking about field history, planting dates, chemical use and where seed was purchased. OSU also examined nearby fallow land to see if it was similarly impacted.

The information may help identify common factors or patterns, Searle and Wysocki said.

In Umatilla County, the patterns are oriented across the fields, with "shadow effects" suggesting protection in areas behind slopes or fence rows, Wysocki said.

But the patterns of the die-off aren't typical of anything anyone has seen before, Searle said.

"The weather's been really weird this year and there was a tight planting window, and then temperature swings and rains and the grain jumped real fast in growth," he said. "It could be a whole combination, perfect storm kind of thing. We're just trying to sort it all out right now."

Most growers in Umatilla County were replanting their fields, Searle and Wysocki said.

Replanted acres aren't expected to have a problem, Wysocki said, "but we can't rule that out."

Faith Healing on Trial in Philadelphia

philly - A Philadelphia forensic pathologist told a Common Pleas Court jury Tuesday that a 2-year-old Rhawnhurst boy would almost certainly be alive had he received routine medical care before he died last year of pneumonia.

"This type of pneumonia, this type of bacteria, is preventable through vaccination and treatable with antibiotics," testified Assistant Medical Examiner Edwin Lieberman, referring to the disease that killed Kent Schaible in January 2009.

Lieberman defended his decision to classify the death as a homicide as a prosecutor began her involuntary manslaughter case against the boy's parents, Herbert and Catherine Schaible.

There is no mandatory prison term for involuntary manslaughter, but the Schaibles each could face up to 24 years in prison if convicted.

The Schaibles are members of a church that preaches forgoing medical care in favor of prayer and faith healing. Authorities allege that when their son became ill with fever, cough, diarrhea, and loss of appetite, the Schaibles cared for him at home for almost two weeks, praying for him to get well as he died.

It's a case in which the jury must discern the boundaries of parental responsibility, religion, and the law.

"A 2-year-old doesn't have the wherewithal to say, 'Mommy, Daddy, I'm sick. I need to go to a doctor,' " Assistant District Attorney Joanne Pescatore said in her opening statement.

"A simple visit to the doctor, a prescription, and that little boy could have been with us today," Pescatore said.

The Schaibles' attorneys, however, argued that it took an autopsy to determine what killed young Kent and that the symptoms his parents saw were not different from those of cold or flu. The Schaibles, their lawyers told the jury, are on trial because of their beliefs.

"If we don't get through the emotion, we will never get to the reason that this child passed away," said Bobby Hoof, the attorney for Herbert Schaible, 42. "We are not here to discuss religion, we're here to discuss why this child passed away."

Hoof said he would bring in his own expert forensic pathologist, the celebrated Pittsburgh medical examiner Cyril Wecht, who will testify that the bacterium that killed Kent - Haemophilus influenzae Type B - is resistant to antibiotics.

"It would not have cured the child," Hoof added. "The child would have died."

Mythri Jaraman, the lawyer for Catherine Schaible, 41, argued in her opening statement that Schaible's religion is irrelevant because the prosecution cannot prove a key element of involuntary manslaughter: that she knew or should have known Kent "faced a substantial risk of death."

"Not this D.A., not Mr. Hoof, not the state and not any one of us loves Kent Schaible any more than his mother," Jaraman told the jury.

No one has alleged that the couple are anything but loving parents. Both defense lawyers said visits to the Schaible house after Kent's death by a nurse and social workers showed no signs of neglect or abuse among the couple's six other children.

Both Schaible lawyers argued that the couple - both quit school after ninth grade - cannot be expected to know when cold and flu symptoms are life-threatening pneumonia.

Catherine Schaible's mother, Mary Wakefield, testified that her daughter told her Kent was "coming along, doing good."

When she saw Kent on Jan. 24, 2009, Wakefield testified, he seemed grumpy but otherwise healthy. She said she was shocked when Pastor Ralph Myers, assistant pastor of the First Century Gospel Church, came to the house to pray with the parents and she was told the child had died.

First Century Gospel Church, founded in 1925, is at 4557 G St. in Juniata Park.

This is not the first time the church and its members have run afoul of the law over its belief in faith healing.

In 1993, Philadelphia officials got a court order against another couple after they prayed over their 12-year-old son at home instead of taking him to an emergency room after he was hit by a car and seriously injured.

And in 1991, the church and another congregation, Faith Tabernacle of Nicetown, came under scrutiny after eight children died in a measles epidemic after members resisted vaccinating their children.

Red Alert As Mystery Disease Hits Uganda

nation - Kenya is on high alert after a yet-to-be identified disease killed 35 people in Uganda.

Reports indicate that 86 people had contracted the disease.

The Director for Public Health and Sanitation, Dr Shahnaaz Sharif, on Wednesday said his office was in constant communication with Ugandan officials to monitor the outbreak.

The symptoms of the illness are headaches, fever and vomiting blood. However, Dr Sharif said that he had received word that the Ebola Haemorrhagic Fever, caused by the Ebola virus, had been ruled out.

Kitkum, which is situated about 400 kilometres north of Kampala, and three districts surrounding it, have so far been affected.

Dr Sharif was quick to add that Kenya is not at immediate risk as there are some districts between Kitkum and the Kenyan border acting as ‘buffers’.

Nonetheless, health officials are vigilant especially in Turkana District, which is at highest risk, given its proximity to the affected region.

The director issued this alert as he announced the second round of the polio emergency campaign that will run from December 11-15.

This comes after a confirmed polio case was reported in Bugiri District, Eastern Uganda, which borders the Ugandan Busia District that shares a border with Kenya’s Busia District.

The reports triggered the emergency vaccination programme, due to the high transmission rate of the virus.

The first round, which has been rated as successful as 982,881 children were vaccinated, was carried out on December 20-24, 2009 and the final leg will be from January 15-19 next year.

Its target is 1,001,785 children.

Another Alabama UDCC Reader Has `Hanging Jet' To Report

UDCC - from Rick Phillips - As some of you are aware - I started this blog as an offshoot of my blog called The Heavy Stuff as at the time THS had become too UFO oriented for my tastes of what I wanted that blog to be. And, up until September of this year - I stayed within a 1-4 posts a month schedule pretty much. I found it quite easy to cover the issues of UFOs as I saw them with that posting frequency. And, really, once you say the same general opinion four times or more - it gets to be an effort to put the mind to the screen so to speak.

I say all that because up until now(ish) this blog has not been part of any `I'll share this with you' type of info. However, with the increase to frequent postings - `information' has filtered the way of UDCC -- most recently exemplified by the comment on a year plus old `high strangeness' UFO report about a Hanging Jetliner Picture/Story - that I covered.

And, I admit, it takes a bit of an open mind to even consider such reports as something beyond nonsense. And, no one of the observers of such phenomena - other than the writings of Colin Bennett - have put a face onto the phenomena. And, even with my last post I tried to put some semblance of `logic' to it - maintaining that it would certainly seem to be indicative of some kind of cloaking phenomena or mind projection phenomena.

I would still take that positioning.

However, on Monday Dec. 6th between Midnight and 1 AM I received an E-Mail concerning yet another `Hanging Jet' - here is the content of the contact:

Saw your blog post on the hanging jets in Huntsville, AL. Intrigues me, as I have seen one in Madison, AL. Madison is right next to H'ville. It would take a dive back through my journal, but I could give you the exact date and the approximate time of day.

However, I work in the aerospace field, and I CANNOT have my name associated. If it was discovered I had said anything about this, my career would be over. I've heard of other high strangeness in the area.

The jet in question was a large military jet, painted black.

As you can see - I have honored this contact as far as withholding the `non working' address used to contact me. Now, here's the even stranger part - this person did it thru my Squidoo account (in which I don't believe you can even enter a fake email - which is what I see on my end). Also, while I will not say anything in particular about the identification on the name associated with the above mailing - when I sent the returned E-mail to a account of the same name it did NOT return.

And, yes, I did look up the name via google and yes there is someone of the name that could very loosely be said to fit the self-description of the person above. So, as far as all that goes, I guess I am trustable now. LOL.

That said, I have NOT gotten an answer to my inquiry at all in any manner and I feel my leg has more than probably been pulled by a low level trickster of some sort (and no, at least as of now I am not saying the trickster of high strangeness fame).

But, a few more things - about THIS `Hanging Jet' Report - literally qualitative things I take away for the ENTIRE presentation of this information to me via a back channel of my contact on the internet (as simply leaving a comment works too as I approve each comment). Anyway, first thing, this person keeps a dated Journal and uses the term high strangeness and now brings yet ANOTHER DESCRIPTION - that does NOT match the prior ones about this Hanging JetLiner Phenomena.

Does that lend more credence to thinking mind control/mental projections is the more likely? Or, is it just as likely some inner working of a cloaking to use such data of the mind?

I certainly don't know, - but - what I do know is that this will probably be the last time a dead end contact will be the UDCC headline. That said, I will continue to prove `updates' simply within other posts should the contact seem sincere. However, this contact somehow gave a fake E - then didn't respond to what anyone would have done - change the .net to .com. I gave two days for a further contact - UDCC will keep you updated.

Finally, as a postscript, I can't help but think of Blossom Goodchild's prediction of `UFOs Hanging Over Alabama' - as the sign from above. As indeed, if multiple people or all people in Huntsville Alabama were able to film such an event - the high strangeness factor would BE EQUAL to an UFO event IMO. And, perhaps without all the fanfare associated with a full blown UFO event - while providing the fortean `impossibilities' of all and any type of occurrence.

Reader Mail: Dentist Office Ghost, Fascinating Orbs and Was He Our Son?

The following are a few anecdotes sent to me recently:

In 1958, my wife and I were living near Baltimore MD. We had just gotten married. One late afternoon we were walking in a park near the Gunpowder River when suddenly and without any warning we were lifted up by some type of powerful force into a room that had a huge window. As we look out the window we could see thousands of stars. We were frightened and assumed we were not on Earth anymore. I could not remember anything after that until I heard my wife screaming and we were again pulled back to the same place in the park.

We kept the incident secret since that time. We never even told our son for a specific reason. My wife, who recently passed away, found out she was pregnant a few days after the incident in the park. This was odd because this should not have happened for reasons I won't go into other than to say that she gave birth to my son 5 months later. He was perfectly healthy. The doctors figured that my wife had been pregnant longer than she thought but we knew that this was not the case.

We had anyways wondered if he was our biological son but never had tests performed. I suppose we didn't want to know.

In 1990, my son simply disappeared without a trace. Quite frankly, he was very eccentric but had a brilliant mind and put it to good use in his profession. The circumstances of his disappearance have never been answered. He left all his possessions and property as we remembered.

In 2005, my wife received a telephone call from someone she did not recognize. The caller said that my son was fine and happy. The caller also said not to worry and that we would be with him very soon. This telephone comforted us for an unknown reason.

I suppose I am writing you in order to find out if others have had a similar experience? I do believe my son was taken by other beings that you write about on your blog. I appreciate your time and consideration. John

Hi - I wanted to tell you about a sighting I had. Went to a new dentist that is housed in an old house. The rooms are somewhat like they used to be but have different functions. I was waiting for the hygienist to come back after x-rays and was looking around the room. I looked out the doorway and didn't see the desk and wall but saw a darkish figure leaning against the wall looking at me. I didn't see a face but knew instinctively it was looking in my direction. I looked away and when I looked back the hallway was the way I remembered. Didn't say anything to the staff since I am open to anything paranormal but this was something I needed to process.

A few days later I called to make another appt. and asked if the office was haunted and was told to hold. A lady got on the phone and asked me what my experience was and said yes, the office was haunted by the 'lady in white'. The story is that the house was built in 1929 and was occupied by a lady named Harriet who either was a widow or single but was the town socialite. The local university was once a law school at that time and she would entertain the law students by inviting the local girls from across the street. There was a soda shop, which is now a jewelry store, which was very popular. Her house was always full of company and there were lots of parties. The lady told me she has been seen several times but is particular about who she reveals herself to and I must be special (I am single but 60 haha) for her to have shown herself. Awesome experience. Can't wait to go back. Dody

Hello Lon,

I'd like to relate a story to you and see what your take is on it. I read a story the other day about a young lady who had just about the same dream a few times, not so much a repeat, but the same place the same people.

While riding with some friends she noticed a house that looked just like the one in her dreams. she had them stop and she knocked on the door. One of the people who answered the door, screamed and said your the ghost that has been haunting our house.

I've had some odd dreams over the years that I really thought I was actually there watching what was happening, in real time. Here's one such dream.

I was sitting in the back seat of a car, there were two people in the front and a girl in the back seat sitting in the middle leaning on the front seat talking to the people in the front. It was late one night, it was misting and cold, the street lights were a dim yellow orange. I could see the mist swirling around the lights in the light wind. We finally pulled into a driveway of an older home and went in. The house had wood floors and didn't have much furniture. I followed these three in the house and I sat down at the kitchen table.

I never spoke to anyone and they never acted like I was even there. The man was putting things on the table to eat and one of the girls sat down in the chair I was sitting in, that's when I woke up.

Could it be we travel in our sleep and some of these ghosts people see and hear are other people traveling in their sleep? I've had many dreams like this that I can remember from start to finish.

One more dream I had was two days after my brother passed away. We always said who ever died first would contact the other if possible. The dream goes like this.

My brother and I were in a car driving on a mountain road. My brother was driving and it was a shear drop off on his side. Needless to say he drove over the side. As the car was bumping and bouncing down the mountain it came to a stop heading in the right direction on a two lane blacktop street.

My brother was no longer in the car and I was driving. I had to stop at a stop sign a few feet down the street. There was a girl across the street on the corner across from me. My window was down and just as I was about to pull away she said, wait. She walked up to my window and held her closed hand up and asked if I would like to see what she had, I said sure.

She opened her hand and there was a leopard frog in it. Not just any frog but one with hair of mink, a light brown color hair. It was a perfect frog with mink hair, if you can imagen that. Whats odd about this is when we were very young and went fishing with our parents we would look for these type frogs. They were few and hard to find and who ever saw one first, won. No prize, just won.

My brother would be the only person I know that could think up something like that, to let me know he was doing fine and everything was alright. I don't believe I have ever heard of anyone speak of this type frog and we never did after we got a little older.

This brings me to another thought. I've always wondered about this for sometime, especially since listening to the stories about Marley Woods, Hudson Valley, the Pine Barrens and the Skinwalker Ranch and other sites around the country.

Could it be the Monks in Tibet can get into deep meditation and project themselves to different places, maybe take on different forms or manifest themselves to be some of these small balls of light, people see in these odd places?

These Monks maintain they can travel to different places and see whats happening, like remote viewing ? They have been doing this for centuries and if any group of people can do this, I believe they can.

In Tibet, they have some very strange looking deities, "cryptoids". Some even look like biped looking animals such as the one that looks like a big walking dog or large hairy type creature with a dog face and standing up on dog looking legs.

I really wish a group would go to Tibet and check these things out. There's more to Tibet and these Monks than we have ever found out about. UFOs are always flying around in the mountains there. What about the big one that crashed there a few thousand years ago? And on and on about Tibet. Perry

Hi Lon,

I have been following Phantoms and Monsters since the summer and enjoy it very much, thank you.

I'd like to tell you about a strange sighting my son and I had on 10/11/2010 at around 5p.m. Neither of us are particularly interested in U.F.O.'S and my son is a complete sceptic.

We were at home in Torquay and I had gone upstairs to my son's room with some laundry when I happened to glance out of his window to see if the moon was visible yet; it wasn't, as most of the sky was covered with broken cloud, but there was clear sky low in the west and south. I noticed a small, black cloud just above the s.s.w horizon which looked just like a drawing of a comet; the "head" was a small black dot while the "tail" looked more like a contrail, only much shorter than normal, black, and pointing steeply towards the ground. At first it appeared to be stationary, but as I watched I realised that it was moving slowly downwards and also northwards, against the wind.

I pointed it out to my son as a weird cloud/contrail, and he looked at it through binoculars. As we watched, the "cloud" split into three parts; the head moved downwards, the tail upwards, while the mid section darkened and became more distinct. All three objects began to change position in relation to the horizon, becoming more horizontal. These changes happened in a matter of seconds. The objects also seemed to grow bigger, but did not appear to be coming closer to our viewpoint.

The appearance of the objects continued to change. They now appeared completely solid, thin, and angular, the three separate sections seeming to form part of a whole. It looked something like the kind of kite used for parascending. At this point we could not decide if it was in front of or behind the hill which forms the skyline seen from our house; about half a mile away across a valley.

The object then seemed to break up into three or more separate sections which quickly fell behind the skyline, out of sight. They looked like thin metal bars falling vertically.

We wondered at the time if we were seeing some kind of plane crash, but it could not have been because this is a densely populated area and the debris would have fallen on houses and roads. There have been no reports in the local papers so far of anything connected with this.

There were no lights or signs of fire or smoke at any time while we were watching. The whole episode lasted about three minutes.

Any ideas? BuzzardLady

********** is an incident that I experienced. It was the Fall of 2007, my senior year at Western Carolina University. I had a class that was canceled, so I was free for the whole day. My roommate and I decided to go hiking at a place called Pinnacle Point in Sylva, NC. We were enjoying the hike and finally reached the top, pulled out a camping stove and proceeded to cook something to eat while we were up there.

As I was lighting the stove, my room mate says, "hey look at that! Is that a star?" I glanced at my watch before turning around, and noticed it was only around 3pm. I immediately thought it odd that a star could be seen at 3pm. I turned and saw what looked like a star in the sky, near the horizon and extremely bright. It just seemed odd looking however. I went back to my backpack and got out a pair of binoculars and started to look at this "star" through them. I immediately noticed that this was no star. Through the binoculars, as clear as day, I could see a huge silver orb floating in the sky, with the sun reflecting off of the top right side of it. I turned the binoculars over to my roommate who confirmed I was not seeing things. As we were watching this thing, we saw another one literally appear above and to the right of the original UFO. Then the original one simply faded away into nothing. Then it came back in a different location.

At this point we were both confused as to what we were seeing. An airplane flew into the same area of the sky, and we used its contrails as sort of a reference to see if these objects were stationary or moving. It seemed to me that they were perfectly stationary, not moving in any direction. We then noticed a third silver orb. We sat in awe and were fascinated by these gigantic metallic looking orbs in the sky. I remember how clearly we could see them. After 30 minutes of watching, all of these UFOs faded away one at a time. It was like they dissolved into thin air. Any ideas?

Fortean / Oddball News: China's Wild Man Real Deal, NASA Screw Up and Orange Diamond UFOs

China's Wild Man could be real deal

cfzaustralia - The Shennongjia Nature Reserve in Hubei province has examined a strand of hair which it has not managed to identify, prompting local people to speculate that it may belong to the 'Wild Man' aka the Yeren, China's own Bigfoot!

Piao Jinlan, a researcher at the reserve, said that scientists need to continue their tests before they could identify the species. The hair is said to be thicker than human hair and thinner than horsetail hair, and the reserve posted a photo on its website on November 22.

More than 400 people have claimed to have seen the half-man, half-ape "Wild Man" in the area in the last 100 years. Witnesses describe the creature as walking upright, more than 2 meters tall and with grey, red or black hair all over its body.

An investigative team was set up in 2009 and started a large-scale search for the mysterious creature in Shennongjia this year.

And there's this from the CFZ archives: As far back as 1981 people were pondering alleged Wild Man 'nests, hair, tracks and faeces...

Orange Diamonds Over New Zealand

wanganuichronicle - Mysterious orange lights in the sky south of Wanganui just after midnight on Saturday have more than 20 Wanganui East residents convinced they have seen a fleet of UFOs.

They even called the police, and an officer checked their reports of orange lights shaped like diamonds flying across the sky. The officer, who was unavailable for comment, saw the last of the lights before they disappeared heavenward.

Adam Johnson, of Mawae St, was celebrating his birthday with a barbecue and a large group of friends.

He'd just been out to his garage and as he had been walking back he saw the lights, he said.

"They were amazing. They looked like diamond kites flying everywhere."

He had rushed inside and got everyone out to make sure it wasn't just him seeing the "UFOs".

Guest Cherie Lamb said the lights looked as though they had been flying towards South Beach.

"It was exactly one minute past midnight and it was an amazing sight. There were about 14 lights, I think. I've never ever seen anything like it. We know that it wasn't an Army exercise or anything."

Another Wanganui East resident, Koert Wegman, who was at a different address, said where he lived in Kiwi St people had a pretty good view of the sky because there was not a lot of light pollution.

"There was a number of orange lights, all moving up and then horizontally across the sky.

They were in bunches of six at a time, one after the other, then later every single one got to a certain point in the sky and fizzled out."

A spokesman for the Carter Observatory said yesterday that no one there could comment because they were having a "catastrophe" and asked the Chronicle to call back and speak to an astronomer today.

NASA sells PC with restricted Space Shuttle data

theregister - NASA officials failed to wipe sensitive agency data from computers before releasing them to the public, a violation of procedures that are part of the plan to securely end the Space Shuttle program, an audit released on Tuesday said.

Kennedy Space Center in Florida – one of four NASA sites with reported weaknesses in the disposition process – cleared the release of 14 computers to the public that had failed tests to verify data had been destroyed, the report found. Of the four that remained in NASA's possession, one contained Space Shuttle related data that was subject to export control by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations. The audit, prepared by NASA's Inspector General, covered a 12-month period starting in June 2009.

“The weaknesses we identified in NASA's IT sanitization policy and procedures put NASA at risk of releasing sensitive information that could cause harm to its mission and violate federal laws and regulations that protect such information,” the report stated.

The investigators also found hard drives that were missing from Kennedy and the Langley Research Center in Virginia. Some of the hard drives were later found inside a publicly accessible dumpster.

Inspectors also found “several pallets of computers” at a disposal facility that still “contained external markings with NASA's Internet Protocol addresses.” The report concluded that the lapses stemmed from a combination of of inadequacies in NASA policy and failures to comply with that policy.

NASA's chief information officer has already agreed to update the sanitization policy, but even that didn't fully satisfy inspectors.

“Moreover, we are troubled that management's response does not reflect the sense of urgency we believe is required to address the serious security issues uncovered by our audit,” the report continued. “Accordingly, we consider the recommendations to be unresolved.”

Recent Sighting of the Van Canavari (Lake Van Monster)

I received the following email from Huseyin in Turkey on Sunday, December 5th. I needed to clean up some of the broken English:

Dear Sir - I write to you after witnessing a creature near my home in Ahlat, Turkey on the 26th of September this year. My friends and I were taking a day long boat ride on Van Golu (Lake Van). Near east Akdamar Island we noticed a violent boil on the surface. When we got closer, I saw a large eel-like creature with a high long fin across the back. I attempted to take a photograph but the creature dove into the darkness. Since I was so close to the creature I was able to get a very reliable description - about 20 meters long, mottled brown with a high ray or fin that extended across the entire back. I got a glimpse of the head which had round eyes that were front set, not like that of a fish, with a pair of ears or flaps.

I presented the description to a biologist and government specialist the following week but was told that I most likely saw a sturgeon or another uncommon species of fish. This is not what I witnessed. I sent an email to 2 other crypto organizations but neither responded. My friend recommended you. What is your opinion of my sighting? Please contact me at your convenience. Thank you - Huseyin

I wrote back to Huseyin. His reply didn't offer much more information other than there had been reports of a similar creature in the past and a more recent sighting a few weeks ago near another island on the lake. He also stated that the only fish known to survive in Lake Van are the Pearl Mullet or Darekh.

From CNN in 1997: Sightings of the Lake Van monster were first reported about two years ago, but further evidence was offered on Tuesday: bad quality amateur pictures of something long and dark moving in the middle of the lake.

After each sighting, professional camera crews have rented boats to try to capture the alleged beast clearly on film, but were unsuccessful each time.

The subject became an obsession for 26-year-old Unal Kozak, a Van University teaching assistant who has been talking to eyewitnesses since the first sightings.

Stationing himself at spots where most of the sightings were reported, Kozak says he saw and filmed the so-called monster on three occasions. Kozak also wrote a book on the creature, including drawings of the monster based on the descriptions of some 1,000 witnesses.

He says the creature is about 15 meters (49.5 feet) long. Public opinion is divided over whether the Lake Van monster is a clever hoax to attract visitors to a region that could use some tourist revenue.

The city of Van is in an underdeveloped area of eastern Turkey that for years has lost out to holiday resorts in the west of the country.

The pictures have been sent to Cambridge University for examination, and Jacques Cousteau, the world-famous marine biologist, is expected to visit and examine the lake.

...this lake was formed some 6,000 years ago when the volcano that is Turkey's lesser known Nemrut Dağı (Mt. Nemrut) erupted and threw the entire top of the mountain into the lake, thereby cutting off the water's natural escape route into a river near Muş. The waters of Lake Van are known for being highly alkaline, which means that it's actually possible to wash clothes in them without using soap. Swimmers also find the water extremely buoyant, although pollution around the main population centers means that it's not really that wise to risk bathing...

...Lake Van is home to all sorts of unusual beasties, some of them real, others entirely fanciful. Perhaps its most prized resident is the inci kefalı (pearl mullet), a fish so revered that it's spawned commemorative statues not just in Van itself but also in the small town of Erciş. Then there is the Van Canavarı, the Lake Van Monster, a creature uncannily like Scotland's Loch Ness Monster and just as elusive -- the closest you'll come to it is the statue in Van's Feqiye Teyran Park where a diplodocus-like creature can be seen wrapping its long neck around other local features... -

UFO Over Southern Tablelands, NSW

dailytelegraph - A prospector who went to find gold in the hills thinks he may have found something better - evidence that aliens really do exist.

Adam Cainero believes he captured a photograph of an alien spacecraft hovering above an escarpment near Majors Creek, in the Southern Tablelands near Braidwood.

After an unsuccessful weekend fossicking for gold Mr Cainero and a friend were making the long trip home when he stopped to take a snap of the steep mountain they had driven down.

When he got home, Mr Cainero said he realised he had found gold of another kind after all.

"I just took a picture of the mountain range and the sun was in my eyes so I just kind of pointed and shot," Mr Cainero said. "Then we looked at the picture - we were, like, no way."

With its shape and its position in the sky, Mr Cainero said he immediately knew the black object was a UFO.

"We always see really weird things as we go out to places where there is no one around," he said.

There had been talk among fossickers about UFOs being in the area, he said. "A lot of people I know who go into the bush reckon they have seen one," Mr Cainero said.

Earlier this year The Daily Telegraph revealed the suburbs around Gosford, on the Central Coast, were the state's biggest hot spot when it came to UFO sightings, with dozens of cases reported every year. Each month people turn up to meetings to share their UFO experiences.

The region was the scene of one of Australia's most baffling UFO cases - a series of sightings in 1995 and 1996 - reported by police and many other credible witnesses.

Residents saw shiny UFOs hovering above water.

Two Maids Jailed, to be Lashed 700 Times for Sorcery

emirates247 - A Saudi court gave heavy jail sentences to two Indonesian housemaids and ordered them lashed 700 times with a whip on charges of practising witchcraft to extort money from their employers, a local daily reported on Monday.

The two maids, aged 33 and 25 years, had used clothes and other personal items to cast a spell on the man and his family in Riyadh since they started working for him nearly three years ago, 'Alyoum' newspaper said.

The court in the Saudi capital was told that the two maids used their magic skills to control the family’s life and drain their employer’s financial resources.

“They also controlled his behaviour and the health of all family members…the family started to look feeble and pale and could not do anything to end their ordeal,” the paper quoted the man’s brother as saying.

“They succeeded in extorting much money from the family to send it to their families in Indonesia. They drained the family financially and physically.”

The paper reported the court sentenced the 33-year-old maid to five years in prison and 500 lashes and the other maid to two years in jail and 200 lashes. It also ordered their deportation after completing their jail terms.

The Queen's Knickers Up For Auction - A pair of undergarments that reportedly belonged to the the Queen are set to go under the hammer in America.

The monogrammed item, reminiscent of shorts, reportedly came into the possession of a "famous Miami playboy named 'Baron' Joseph de Bicske Dobronyi" more than 40 years ago, celebrity website TMZ reported.

He received the garment from a friend after it was left on a private plane used when the queen visited Chile in 1968.

After Dobronyi's death in June, his estate began planning to auction off the royal garment which is expected to sell for $9000.

A pair of silk briefs that kept Napoleon Bonaparte warm during his exile on the South Atlantic island of Saint Helena was due to go on sale over the weekend for between €15,000 ($20,000) and €20,000.

Plan for Creationist 'Ark' Park Draws Paleontologists' Ire

sciencemag - Kentucky scientists are slamming Governor Steve Beshear's (D) announcement yesterday that the state is partnering with Answers in Genesis (AIG), a creationism group, to create "Ark Encounter," a park related to Noah's Ark. Replete with what developers call a "full-scale" ark and models of dinosaurs, the $150 million amusement park in Grant County will be a follow-on to AIG's Creation Museum in Petersburg, which opened in 2007.

The governor says the for-profit developers behind the planned park will apply for tax breaks, which could provide up to $37.5 million in savings from the state. Governor Beshear says the park will create 900 jobs for the state. But Daniel Phelps, president of the Kentucky Paleontological Society in Lexington, says the park is "government entanglement with religion" and doesn't make the state attractive to scientists and technically minded individuals. "I don't envision people, especially those with science backgrounds, wanting to move to a state where the 'ark park' has government support," says Phelps, who works as an environmental geologist for the state.

Moonlanding for Croatia in 2012

croatiantimes - Croatia is expected to make its mark on the Moon by the end of 2012 when Astronomical Society Vidulini from Istria plans to launch its space exploration vehicle - rover "Histrohod."

The robotic vehicle is the brainchild of Zeljko Mogorosa who has been working on its prototype for the past two years. "Histrohod" is expected to land at the same spot where Apollo 17 – the latest manned mission to the Moon – landed in 1972.

Through a group of mobile devices, "Histrohod" will send televised segments down to Earth.
"This is a big challenge for our society and we are extremely proud that our association and our small Istria will become a part of space exploration," said the Society’s president Marino Rumpic.

The cost of building "Histrohod" is estimated at 20,000 Euros and is expected to be covered by various donors from around the world.

The Astronomical Society Vidulini started the first Croatian space program (Astronautika) and forms part of the international team Synergy Moon which is participating in the "Google Lunar X Prize" contest.
