Searching for the Ghosts of Old Cahawba - Once a year Old Cahawba opens its gates to the public and every year several ghost hunters and history lovers who are brave enough make the journey to Alabama’s first capital city walk through those gates.

Hunters, history buffs and those just interested in an interesting night climbed aboard a converted cotton trailer Friday. The roomy open-air cabin moved in the quiet, starry night. The headlights cut through the darkness, which enveloped the passengers behind.

The first stop on the tour was the New Cemetery, which was created in 1851. Luminaries lit the path to the tour’s first stop.

“There are messages left behind in this landscape by the people who lived here,” Linda Derry, site director, said. “Some of those messages are out in the open and are happy, but some you have to look for and are quite sad.”

Derry pointed out a monument to the Bells. One side reads J.R. Bell and the other remembers J.A. Bell. They were father and son who were killed in a shoot-out in the main street of Cahawba. The Bells' deaths were the ultimate conclusion of a long feud, which accused the family of making their slave steal keys from people, or was it?

Derry first experienced a ghostly encounter at Cahawba about 20 years ago right at the base of the Bells' monument. A group of ghost hunters came in to investigate the historic and haunted town. Derry was out in the graveyard with them when the hunters became very excited. They called her over to the Bell’s monument and said they had a very clear EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena), which is a recording that plays an unexplained voice.

“It said as clear as a bell ‘Don key,’” Derry said. “I wasn’t surprised it said Don because he is our maintenance supervisor here and he hears voices all the time, but the other word key was interesting.”

Derry went on her day and then went home, but she still wondered what Don key could mean. That following morning she found out.

Don came in that day and told Derry he couldn’t find his keys. She relayed to him about the “Don key” episode so they decided to look at the Bell’s monument. However, the keys were not there. Later that day they were found — in the slave cemetery by the Bells' slave who was accused of taking keys for the family.

With that story in mind the hunters were sent off with two members of Central Alabama Paranormal Investigators.

The group spread out trying to find any abnormal activity before heading to the Barker's Slave Quarters.

There they learned about the Kirkpatrick family who renovated and then inhabited the home for mere weeks. The hunters were able to explore the first floor and the back of the home.

One man who lived in the area for a short time as a kid, Clifton Kirkpatrick, experienced a ghostly encounter almost daily then. However he didn’t know it.

When Clifton was a young kid he would go out near the cemetery and river. He was told to mind his step by a man named Gat. Everyday he would go out and play like young boys would do — getting into things he wasn’t supposed to do or going a little too far — all the time his trusty older friend Gat would tell him to be careful.

Clifton was relaying his memories of his old friend one day many years after the fact when he was told that his caretaker Gat had died several years before he was even born.

Stories like this swirl around Old Cahawba and once a year people can come through the gates. Some come to experience the ghosts like Hannah Estes, Prattville.

“I’ve learned about Cahawba in school and we talked a little about the ghosts,” she said. “I really wanted to come here and see it for myself. The tour was really cool and it was really good getting to see what we learned about.”

Some visitors came because of their love of Cahawba and the history surrounding it.

“Selma has a gem right in its backyard,” Mike Rogers said. “People should come out more and see it.”

With the last volunteer Old Cahawba closed its gates, but they will open up next year for the night again. Even though the area was cleared out many hunters wondered what kind of activity was still going on behind Old Cahawba gates.

Pegues' Ghost: Version One

From the mystical shadows of long ago comes the memory of one of those strange, mysterious, uncanny phenomena connected with this place that sometimes happens to astonish the most materialistic, and which at the time of its occurrence caused much interest and speculation even among the most intelligent and best-informed citizens of Cahaba.

In the spring of 1862, on one of those brilliant moonlight nights, a night "in which nature seems in silent contemplation to adore its Maker," a young lady and gentleman, prom, promenading near the maze of cedars, turned to enter one of the circular walks leading to the center of the labyrinth, when they were startled to see a large white, luminous ball moving a few feet above the ground in front of them, apparently floating in air. This ball would dart first on one side of the walk and then on the other, approach close enough to almost touch them, recede and disappear in the shrubbery, to suddenly be seen again floating beside them. Thinking the apparition was a trick of fancy or was caused by same peculiar phase of the moon's shadows, they turned to retrace their steps, when again it appeared in front of them, going through the same gyrations. The gentlemen now determined to test the materiality of the object; but just as he attempted to grasp it, it darted beyond his reach and disappeared, to be seen no more that night.

On several occasions this apparition appeared to other parties, and became known as the "Pegues Ghost." No one could ever definitely explain what it was, but general opinion finally concluded it to be one of those strange phosphorescent phenomena so often read of but rarely seen, known as "will-o'-the-wisp" or Jack-o'-lantern."

Pegues' Ghost: Version Two

One famous event during Cahawba's Civil War-era was the arrival of the town's first apparition, the will-o'-the-wisp wisp known as the "Pegues' Ghost." In 1862, on a moonlit night, a young couple was walking behind Colonel C. C. Pegues' home, ambling about the thick stand of cedars when a glowing ball of white light suddenly appeared before them. Flashing from side to side a few feet above the path, the apparition moved so close that they could almost touch it, then quickly disappeared in the undergrowth only to reappear beside them moments later. When the gentleman tried to touch the object, it disappeared -- much like the town itself was soon fated to vanish.

One cannot help but wonder about the historical circumstances and coincidences that surround the Pegues' Ghost story. The home of Colonel Pegues, the leader of the Cahaba Rifles, Fifth Alabama Regiment, was the social center of the town during this time. The large grounds with their forest of cedars, magnolia trees, Lombardy pines, scented Cowers and fountains describe the ideal retreat for lovers desperate in escape the harsh realities of war. The home was a place to court and to forget. But significantly, it was Colonel Pegues that would return home to recruit more men for his Cahaba Rifles. Was the young man in the story a recruit?

That the apparition first showed up in 1862 seems undeniably significant, for at the Battle of Gains Mills in Virginia on June 27 that very same year, Colonel Pegues was fatally wounded. He died two weeks later. Was the apparition a warning to young recruits? To Pegues himself?

No matter. The first Cahaba ghost story presaged more than the inhabitants could have realized: Cahawba like the Pegues' Ghost, was soon to become immaterial, a place owing more to the past than the future, a place inhabited primarily by the events of its former glory days. Cahaba would soon become a ghost story itself.

Is the Black American West Museum in Denver Haunted? - Is history all in the past, or is it still here with us? The answer to that question has changed for some people at the Black American West Museum in Denver.

"Every single person who has volunteered here at the museum has experienced something," Museum Executive Director La Wanna Larson said.

Larson believes the museum is haunted and says for at least one of those volunteers, an experience with a ghost was just too weird.

"He said, 'I have to go home now and rethink everything I used to think about these things.' He was clearly shaken up," Larson said.

Earlier this month a team of paranormal investigators asked if they could look for signs of any ghosts at the museum. The president of Spirit Paranormal Investigations in Littleton, Kevin Sampron, brought children on this investigation to see if they could stir up the spirit of Dr. Justina Ford.

"The doctor seems to get agitated when kids seem to get out of hand a bit, and typically she will do something, make a noise, knock a picture off a wall or something," Sampron explained.

He and his crew placed voice recorders and cameras in rooms around the house. As the children ran through the home they, they monitored the cameras from a location outside the house, hoping to record any evidence of paranormal activity.

Besides pictures falling from the walls, visitors have also reported other evidence that Ford is lurking.

"They say, 'Well, I thought I saw a woman walk across the room and then when I went there, she was gone,'" Larson said.

Ford was the first African American female doctor west of the Mississippi. The museum's building was her home in the early 1900s. It's also where she treated patients who couldn't get care elsewhere because of discrimination or poverty.

"Everyone she took care of referred to her as their best friend," Larson said.

Ford is described as a kind and generous woman, but apparently she doesn't like people touching her belongings. The ghost hunters reported an odd occurrence after they held Ford's eyeglasses.

"The same two women who were mishandling her glasses said they felt this huge wave of nausea, and then when they left the room they felt better," Larson said.

The official results of the investigation are still pending. Even if they can't convince the skeptics, they won't dissuade the believers.

"Yes, I believe because I've experienced it. It's that simple," Larson said.

El Almamula, the 'Mule Soul', Reported in Loreto, Argentina

inexplicata - A rancher living in an outlying district of the city of Loreto (Santiago del Estero) told police that a strange creature – known in popular mythology as “El Almamula” (the Mule Soul) has been attacking his animals and has already mutilated several of his pigs, eating “their eyes, tongues, livers and hearts.”

Santiago del Estero - 10/16/2009

The man, identified as Mario Prado, a resident of Barrio Emergencia on the outskirts of Loreto, presented a complaint before Section 27 of the Provincial Police, further informing authorities that he would wait in a corner of his house, fully armed, in an effort to slay the creature and put an end to the “goings-on”

“This situation doesn’t involve normal animals – it’s the handiwork of the Almamula, because it eats eyes, tongues, livers and hearts,” Prado pointed out, citing what he was told in turn by another local upon seeing the state in which his pigs had been found.

According to his explanation, this neighbor also informed him that he should arm himself and wait in the pen for the next attack, and to file a complaint with the police, which he finally did in recent days.

UFO Watcher Claims Proof Alien Base In Sochi, Russia - UFO watchers say Russia’s resort city of Sochi could be a galactic hub for visitors from another planet. One man says he has evidence of hundreds of UFO sightings.

If you point the camera to the sky in Sochi, you can easily catch a glimpse of alien spaceships – says local UFO watcher Vladislav Karabanov. From the terrace of his home he has captured more than a hundred such incidents. Most are decent quality, since they were shot using high-definition cameras.

However, the objects on tape move very fast and disappear shortly before hitting the ground or sea.

Vladislav says he might have already been in touch with visitors from outer space.

“If I’m not being mistaken, the mere possibility of seeing and filming these objects, the way they appear, and move, and finding where their portals are is considered by ufologists to be second-degree contact,” he says.

To get feedback from other UFO hunters, Vladislav has set up a website.

He is certain that the area around his home and the summit of Bytkha Mountain in Sochi is being used by extraterrestrials as some sort of a gateway between worlds. Vladislav says for centuries this area was considered sacred by the local tribes.

“The Ubykhs believed that mount Bythkha is a holy place, so they’ve built a sanctuary here. There seems to be some kind of different energy that can be felt, and it’s something that you cannot feel anywhere else,” the man explains.

Aleksandr Semenyuk is a professional cameraman and documentary film director. Before watching the tapes he was skeptical, but after viewing, he was less convinced they ware fake.

“What’s the speed here? Is it all in real time?” Akleksandr is apparently surprised. “The object is clearly three-dimensional, judging by how it reflects the sunlight from one side and the sea from the other.”

Other professionals, like Russian “Hardware” magazine editor-in-chief Andrey Mikhailyuk were also baffled.

“So, actually, we can't see any kind of retouch here, any kind of montage, any kind of Hollywood ‘special’ effects, nothing is here, so it could really be a UFO. But I think it could also be a frisbee. So you really can't say is it made at home or is it really on tape,” Andrey said.

As skeptics and optimists argue what’s real and what’s not in the Sochi videos, the man behind the lens wants to zoom even further into his theory of the alien portal, even if it takes days of filming, and hours of analyzing the shots.

While Vladislav Karabanov continues his research, he is trying to get closer to the mystery of the sightings. He hopes someday the resort of Sochi will not only be known as a future Olympic city, but also the first center of UFO tourism.

Photos: Alien Entity - Alien Home Invasion Update

'DE' highlights features in the bedroom

NOTE: 'DE' (the witness) forwarded the followed images of an hovering alien entity that materialized in his bedroom. In order to capture activity throughout the bedroom, 'DE' mounted a 180 degree corner surveillance mirror and directed the camera on it. The following captures were on the video. According to 'DE', this is just one of many alien types or species he has witnessed in his home. Previous post Alien Home Invasion Update: 'Stargate' Appears. Please take note, we have been involved with this case for over a year and have conducted several interviews. 'DE' has undergone hypnotic regression and has been examined by professionals and deemed NOT to be conducting a hoax. For those who have doubts and further questions, we continue to examine evidence...more updates are forthcoming. Hopefully, we can answer your concerns...Lon

Restless Spirit Roams Pennsylvania Sorority House - by Amanda Hopkins - Bloomsburg University, Bloomsburg, PA - According to the sisters of Phi Sigma Sigma, who currently live at 351/353 Lightstreet Road, there have been several acts of unexplained phenomena since their sorority moved into the house two years ago.

The girls recall stories of shadows that lurk the halls late at night when nobody else is home, beds shaking uncontrollably, and each sister has an eerie feeling like they are being watched. According to junior Lauren Foster, popular sites for ghost activity in the house are the downstairs foyer, where a dark shadow is often seen roaming, and the stairs, where a few girls claim to be pushed down.

Foster was not sure of any deaths in the home, but since the house was built in the early 1900s, it is likely that there have been at least one death in the house. According to what senior Rachel Kochinsky heard, somebody died in the upper bedroom of the house.

While the paranormal activity continued, questions remained unanswered. It wasn’t until senior Ashley Ferrentino pledged in fall of 2007 that some of the answers began to unfold. After hearing rumors of the haunting, Ferrentino, who has been interested in the paranormal since her aunt began practicing Wicca (witchcraft) several years ago, decided to do some investigating of her own.

“After I found out all the information about the Phi Sig house being haunted, I immediately grabbed my Ouija,” said Ferrentino. “After a few minutes of asking questions about our house, I got random bits of information: the name Maggie and the year 1934.”

After the Ouija board incident, Ferrentino went onto the Internet to do some research. What she found was alarming; an obituary of a woman named Maggie who died in Bloomsburg in 1934. From what she can remember from the obituary, which is no longer available online, Maggie was an older woman who died of natural causes. Maggie also had a daughter who died several years before.

Since then, Ferrentino has had a few run-ins with Maggie. One incident occurred when she and one other sister was in the house. As they were getting ready to leave the house, they heard laughter of a little girl coming from the kitchen. The sound could not be explained by anything else, as nobody was home and no televisions or radios were left on. Another night, when Ferrentino was laying in bed, she heard strange sounds coming from the inside of her wall, almost as if something were trying to come out of the wall. The sound went on for a few minutes before it stopped.

Incidents like this have been occurring in the house long before Phi Sig members moved in. Two years ago, the house belonged to Delta Phi Epsilon, and Delta Alumni Katie McGuire said a lot of weird things happened at the house when she pledged in spring of 2006. It started out with little things, like items disappearing or lights going out, recalls McGuire, but before long, the spirit began showing its presence in a less subtle way.

As McGuire recalls, one night the sisters who lived in the house were all getting ready for bed. The sister who lived on the first floor had locked the front and back door. “Right as we were about to turn off our light, the smoke detectors started going off all over the house,” said McGuire. “We were on the third floor so we went running downstairs to see what was going on. When we got to the kitchen, the faucet in the sink was running and the sink had overflowed and flooded onto the floor.” Nobody could explain what happened that night.

Some of McGuire’s pledge-sisters have had other experiences with the spirit, who they knew as Colleen. A few of the sisters have been pushed down the stairs. Another sister woke up in the middle of the night feeling as if she were pinned to the bed, being choked. Sisters have also complained about extreme drafts of coldness and one sister has even seen a shadowy figure standing near her radiator.

There are several stories regarding the haunting of 351/353 Lightstreet Road, all of them unique and equally creepy.

While the details seem to differ from person to person, there are a few things that remain consistent between them all: paranormal activity tends to happen on the 351 side of the house, the stairwell and kitchen seem to be popular places for activity, and seeing figures of some sort are often reported.

But why is this entity still there? Ferrentino believes it is a residual haunting, which is when the spirit does not know they have died, or does not want to believe it, so they continue living as they did when they were alive.

The sisters, who say they are often ‘creeped out’ by the entity, do not feel threatened by it or feel as if they are in any danger. Essentially, they have learned to share their home with the spirit until it is ready to cross over to the other side and lie to rest for good.

Giant Snakes in U.S. Threaten Wildlife and Humans - This is NOT an exaggeration: U.S. Geological Survey's biologists have just published a report detailing the ecological risks of nine species of giant non-native boas, anacondas and pythons in the United States. Already Burmese pythons are reproducing in the wilds and no-so-wilds of South Florida, with an estimated population now in the tens of thousands. But things could get a lot worse. There's even this tidbit about threats to humans in the press release:

"Based on the biology and known natural history of the giant constrictors, individuals of some species may also pose a small risk to people, although most snakes would not be large enough to consider a person as suitable prey. Mature individuals of the largest species—Burmese, reticulated, and northern and southern African pythons—have been documented as attacking and killing people in the wild in their native range, though such unprovoked attacks appear to be quite rare, the report authors wrote. The snake most associated with unprovoked human fatalities in the wild is the reticulated python. The situation with human risk is similar to that experienced with alligators: attacks in the wild are improbable but possible."

More significant, really, is that the report's coauthor Robert Reed had to say: "This report clearly reveals that these giant snakes threaten to destabilize some of our most precious ecosystems and parks, primarily through predation on vulnerable native species."

You may be thinking: "I don't see the problem. I don't live in South Florida and that's all going to be underwater anyway, what with sea level rising. So problem solved."

Nope. Last year there was another study comparing how climate change will make more parts of the US more like the native ranges of these snakes, possibly extending the threats to California and New Jersey. Yikes!

Photo: Apparition of Child In Window - Room 1211 - The Stanley Hotel, Estes, Colorado

NOTE: a few weeks ago, I received some photos that were taken at the Stanley Hotel in Estes, Colorado that depicted the apparition of a human like being. This week, George Cassella forwarded 2 photos with this statement:
"...I was at The Stanley Hotel 2 weeks ago and after the tour (I took 4 orb pictures) I took pictures of the outside of the hotel…on the plane home I looked over all the pictures very closely. In this series I zoomed in on all the windows and discovered this one of a second floor window…it looked more like an apparition than an actual person. I contacted The Hotel the following day and was later told:"

OK, the room number is 1211. Last Friday, there was a single man checked in that room who was part of a business conference. That doesn't mean he DIDN'T have a child with him, but it is unlikely that he did. Cool pic!

The Case of a UFO Sightings and The Spaceman of Ocean Beach

Click for video

I received an email from a lovely woman who had a UFO sighting when she was living in Ocean Beach California. She was 18 years old at the time. The year was 1980. The women along with a roommate were living in an apartment in the San Diego area one block from the Ocean. Together they watched a UFO over Ocean Beach.

The woman told me that one foggy night along with her roommate she became compelled to get in her car and drive to a beach about a mile away from her apartment. This was odd, as they could have walked to a beach in about five minutes, as one was located right down the block from their apartment. They did not usually go out of their way to go to other beaches. They could not explain why but were driven to go to the beach a mile away that night. It was late in the evening for a beach visit and they really had no reason to want to go to a beach a car ride away however something compelled them to go.

It was not a beach night as dense fog covered the roads but the roommates were compelled so strongly they decided to get in the car and drive to the beach about a mile south of them.

The fog was so thick they could barely see 10 feet in front of the car. They continued on carefully crawling down the road to the beach parking lot they were drawn to. They parked the car and headed straight through the fog for the water. Once they got about 20 feet from the shoreline the fog broke exposing a crystal clear corridor that was approximately 150 yards wide by about one mile in length.

The girls heard a faint humming sound. They followed the sound looking up to see a UFO a few hundred feet above their heads. It was gliding smoothly moving parallel to the shoreline. They found themselves looking at a round iridescent looking craft. At this point they think is when they lost a bit of time. They seemed to have some confusion from the point of first seeing the craft to the point when they once again recall it moving over their heads. The woman does remember getting a very good look at the UFO as it moved across over their heads.

The next thing she remembers is watching the craft move away. About a half a mile down the shoreline it stopped for several seconds then it vanished in the thin air- almost, as if it disappeared into another dimension.

One of the really odd things about this experience was the point when the UFO stopped before vanishing. It stopped and hovered right next to the beach house owned by an elderly man nicknamed the Spaceman of OB (Ocean Beach). He was a retired artist, a painter who claimed to have contact with aliens and UFO’S.

The girls knew about the spaceman artist. Everyone in the area was familiar with him. They never thought much about him before however now found it very odd that they were seeing this craft so close to his bungalow on the beach.

The Spaceman Of Ocean Beach was an artist named Clint Cary. Clint was an excellent artist who pioneered painting with black light technique. He was known for his beautiful art pieces of alien cities and alien life. The Spaceman claimed he had been taken to other planets by alien beings where he was shown cities where the people of earth would be taken by beings of light to be saved from an earth-ending event.

Clint Cary lived and painted along Ocean Beach from the 50’s until sometime in the early 90’s before giving way to blindness and a lifetime of alcoholism.

The young women who had this sighting near this artist’s bungalow decided to visit the artist the day after their sighting.

They did meet the man and did ask him if he had seen the craft they had the night before. He told them he had not seen anything and was not overly eager to talk to them about what they had seen over the beach near his cottage. The girls did get to see some of the Spaceman’s artwork. The woman told me that his paintings of the space cities were extremely beautiful and without question one of a kind pieces of art.

This woman told me that she and her friend recalled seeing other people along the beach that were watching this UFO fly over the beach that night. She often wondered if anyone else has come forward who witnessed this sighting that night in 1980 at Ocean Beach California?

I was able to research that Clint Cary was indeed called the Spaceman of Ocean Beach. He was famous for his claims of alien contact and wonderful artwork of alien cities. The strange thing that I cannot find one image of any of his alien works of alien cities anywhere. I searched for a long time and only found later works of his but not one sample or copy of any of his extensive alien city pieces.

I found this sighting to be very interesting. The women involved will never forget that night or the UFO that seemed to lull them to the beach located along the same stretch of coastline that the Spaceman lived and painted scenes of places so extreme that those who viewed them never forgot them. I also found it odd that I was not able to find one of these paintings anywhere or in any article written about his man. It seems all his incredible paintings of alien life and cities are lost. I tried but found them impossible to find.

Finding information on the Spaceman and his claims of alien abduction has been very difficult. I found one article about the spaceman written by Mike James on the Out of Bounds site on the net. Mike James wrote the following about the spaceman:

During the summer of 1977, my brother Pat and I had our first encounter with the Spaceman of Ocean Beach. Artist and musician Clint Cary, The Spaceman, lived in a cottage at the entrance to the Ocean Beach Pier.

The Spaceman claimed to have traveled to other planets, other dimensions. His otherworldly friends from the planet Rillispore transported him there. He first began his journeys in the late 50’s after first meeting the Rillosporians in the desert near Joshua Tree.

Later the Rillosporians would appear in his Ocean Beach bungalow to take him on these mini-vacations from our time and space.

As a painter, Clint was inspired by these journeys and created wonderful “cosmic art” masterpieces.

During our time with the Spaceman he gave us “Spaceman Cards“. They were to be our tickets to travel on a giant spaceship. We would be deposited on the 3rd dimensional planet Lycillus Apum. The relocation would save us from the cataclysmic destruction of earth when the magnetic poles would shift.

I think it is clear that all who came to know the Spaceman of Ocean Beach will not forget him- especially the women who encountered the unknown right in front of the Spaceman’s home!

We will never know what was going on along that area of coastline at Ocean Beach California during that period of time. I do know this woman and her friend will never forget their encounter with that UFO or the man and his art known as the Spaceman of Ocean Beach.

Cattle Mutilations Reported in North Georgia - Someone or something is mutilating cattle on the Cooper farm.

Twice since late September, cattle have turned up dead, with parts of their bodies removed with seemingly surgical precision, said Kathy Cooper, who with her husband, John, operates a 250-acre beef cattle farm in South Hall off Union Church Road. Now they want to know who’s doing it and why.

"We really don’t know," Kathy Cooper said. "It’s scary, because I know they’ve got to be getting down there on foot. It’s a huge pasture."

In a cattle operation the size of theirs — they have more than 200 head — it’s not unusual for a cow or two to die in the field every so often, Cooper said.

But when her husband found a dead cow with its milk sack cut out in a circle, it was no ordinary case of animal decay. Two weeks later, he found a 7-month-old bull calf dead, with part of its genitalia missing.

This week Hall County Sheriff’s investigators visited the farm.

"I was hoping I might get a little insight as to whether it had to do with devil worship or Voodoo," Cooper said.

No such luck.

Sheriff’s officials are still investigating the mutilations, but have no suspects, Col. Jeff Strickland said.

Cattle mutilation is a phenomenon that has been reported across the country at least since the 1960s. It even has its own name: "bovine excision." And despite in-depth government investigations worthy of the 1990s TV show "X Files," there has never been a clear explanation. While theories have ranged from bizarre blood-drinking cults to extraterrestrials, some believe the mutilations are actually done by small animals or insects who eat away parts of the body but leave most intact.

Cooper is convinced the most recent death was not the work of an animal, though.

"I’m 100 percent on the last one," she said.

The Coopers have been victims of vandals before, too. Last year someone shot dead four of their cows and was never caught.

Cooper said she would like to know if other farmers in the area have had similar problems.

If not, "it will just be up to us finding another one, and trying to get more clues," she said. "We know somebody’s up to no good, but we just don’t know why they’re doing it."

I know little or next to nothing about Paganism. I know it was the spiritual thinking of many in Europe before Christianity. Besides that I know Halloween is a celebrated time for the Pagans. I decided it was time to find out what I could about this life style. By chance I heard Amy talking to a group of people on line. I was impressed on how she handled the subject and set up a time to spend talking to her one on one.

Amy explained many things to me I never before understood. The first area of my confusion was that Pagans, like Amy, are not always Wicca. Pagans can join in covens, which are groups of 13 (13 being a magical number). Amy however does not belong to a group and practices her beliefs as her life style.

Paganism goes back to the route of first religions before Christianity to the time of the first Celts. Pagans, like Amy, have a spiritual connection to the earth and universe and try to keep a clear focus at all times. Amy uses this belief system to try to keep in balance with all nature, earth and the universe.

I asked Amy about how this works into her daily life. She explained to me that she meditates often as well as using visualization to bring her to the balance and focus she needs to live a balanced life. She explained to me that pagan witches, like her, use spells differently than the general public thinks they do. Amy told me that as other religious people pray to God for help or an answer, Pagans use spells and rituals. They use these things as a focus or a way to pray to the ultimate power and universe as their way to ask for help or answers. She also explained that using meditation and visualization along with spells and rituals is a way for the Pagan to focus. This is how they work on the balance d and confidence needed to stay centered as well as a way to rid them selves of the negativity we all pick up in daily living.

I asked Amy about the idea of white and black or good or bad witches. Amy told me most of that is myth and that magic has no real color. Amy told me that there are those who do use magic for bad or evil purposes, which in her mind is very dangerous for that witch. “Those who use magic for those reasons need to remember the laws of nature. Whatever you send out does in fact come right back to you. If you send out bad energy you get back bad energy. It is a fact that needs to be considered by those who do these things. Get ready as what ever you send out - WILL come back at you!” Amy told me magic is all intent and you do receive back the intent you send out. I think that is a good piece of advice for everyone to consider in today’s world. We all need to understand the way we treat, act and the deeds we do to others, will show up again at our front door. It best you consider this upon your next intention towards another. I guess it all agrees with the old ‘do unto others’ ideology, or truth.

Pagans believe in mother earth or Gaia, as well as the moon goddess, sun god along with others. They celebrate the seasons, their sabbats and festivals yearly. Amy has an alter in her home that she keeps decorated with the seasons festivities. Presently fall is represented with pumpkins and things October and the Halloween or Samhain sabbat brings to mind.

October 31st is the Pagan time of Samhain. It is celebrated with barn fires and rituals like the burning of the year’s negativity. This is when the Pagan lists all the negative things that filled their year and take the list to the barn fire and burns it with the intent to burn away and rid them of those negative things.

Amy listed the Pagan times of what we call our holiday times. They are very similar to all the times of year Christians celebrate holidays. Amy explained that Paganism was here far longer than Christianity. When the church developed they needed to win over the people who were basically all Pagans at the time and did so by copying the Pagan times of celebration as a way to make them feel comfortable in the new founded Christianity. You will find other similar believe systems and base of the Christian faith taken from the first spiritual Pagan groups.

Amy told me she comes from a Celtic background, which is where her Pagan belief system stems from. She also told me that although practiced and in the United States this type of spiritual life style is more known and accepted in both England and Canada.

Amy talked to me about the rituals used in Pagan worship as a private time which she does not discuss. It is like praying. It is personal to the individual as to what they are focusing on or needing help dealing with.

I found Amy to be a very nice person who explains her spiritual life and customs clearly and with out any form of harm or misuse to others.

After interviewing Amy I spoke to a friend who just finished interviewing a witch who describes her life style as Wicca and far from the kind connected to earth views of my Pagan friend.

I can only report what Amy, who is Pagan by choice, told me about her views and life style. I found nothing at all to fear from this woman. I will tell you my friends experience with the Wicca witch were opposite to that of what Amy explained to me.

Amy did tell me there are those who use the power of the earth and universe and its magic for dark and ugly purposes. I guess the answer to all of this is that humans have choices to make be it in every day decisions, work, family or friend matters. The choices of each human are to lean towards the good of all things, like Amy does in her Pagan beliefs, or to use their abilities for dark more sinister actions.

The entire key to all of this is for us all to know and remember with all our intents- once you send them out you must be prepared as the universe will make sure they come right back at you! I think that is something we all need to reflect upon.

Alien Image Found in UFO Video Capture

NOTE: I received this from Michael Cohen at

Around a month ago we received this interesting UFO video from a reader. No information regarding the footage was passed on to us. When we posted the story some readers thought the video showed a mere reflection in a window while others found the footage more compelling than that. I must say I myself was not so sure it was just a reflection of a light in a window. Since then we have received more information regarding this UFO event.

We now know that the man heard in the clip is speaking Indonesian and that he seems genuinely confused as he calls regional control to tell them that ‘Noah’s Ark’ (he seems unfamiliar with UFOs and aliens) has been hovering over the port all morning. Lon Strickler then created an enhanced still from the footage which further intrigued me.

We contacted our friend, Ronald Nussbeck of and asked him to see what he could come up with using Ron Stewart’s remarkable APEP photo enhancement technology.

To our surprise and despite the poor quality of the film, a rather clear if not outright amazing image of a humanoid alien was captured peering through the windows of this UFO/extraterrestrial spaceship! The image, Lon Strickler's enhanced image and the orginal footage are posted above.
is operated by Ron S. Stewart, Archeologist, Inventor and regarded as one of the world's leading Imaging Scientists and the developer of APEP: Which has received attention from some of the World's largest Corporations and the international UFO community.

APEP works because Ron S. Stewart found a Flaw in the Architecture Foundation of Image creation that affects all photos and videos for the last 50 years. The Flaw restricts DPI (dots per inch), the average photo contains about 150 DPI, APEP converts photos and videos to about 10,000 DPI, that means an increase of up to 10,000% in image resolution. The process also solves Pixelazation and Distortion when enlarging images and is inherent in all photo process today. The flaw restricts the laws of physics from attaining maximum resolution.

“To the less discerning eye, it could be a leaf shrivelling up on a tree fighting the onset of the first autumn chill. But this amazing form is in fact a lizard which can camouflage itself so well that it actually looks like a leaf. Perched on a branch, this Satanic leaf-tailed gecko has blended itself into its surroundings so expertly that even making out its coil-shaped body among the foliage is no mean feat. Its curvy body – at the top of the image – is only a slightly lighter hue of brown than the dark leaf it has tangled itself around. As your eyes move across to the right of the picture, you can just about see its torso making a single corkscrew movement as its darker brown tail tapers off to the right. To the left of the picture, the gecko’s head can be seen as well as its left arm and left leg which squats. The stunning image of the species was captured at the Andasibe-Mantadia National Park in Madagascar.”

Vibration Mystery Rattles Minnesota Community - Cupboards and drawers in Crystal Oswald's house shake. Vibrations wake Donna Wiersgalla's 3-year-old daughter three or four times a night. A few doors down, Bailey Conklin, 13, removed rattling pictures from her bedroom wall.

That's life these days on 1st Avenue N. in Newport, where a phenomenon that nobody can explain troubles residents enough that they're seeking help from city officials and comparing notes in one another's kitchens.

At least eight households have reported intermittent and random shaking, and thus far public officials have been unable to find a cause.

"It wouldn't be so bad if someone could give me some answers," said Oswald, whose roommate has threatened to move out because of the shaking. "It's becoming a big pain, especially at night. It feels like there's a helicopter going over your house and I open the door and there's nothing."

The affected residents live next to a park in the northwest corner of Newport, a Washington County city of about 3,700 near the Mississippi River. Industries and highways surround the neighborhood, but it's unclear whether any of them -- including the nearby Wakota Bridge on Interstate 494 -- have anything to do with the mysterious vibrations that are beginning to feel like a slow form of torture to residents.

"I've never felt this before," said Wiersgalla, who has lived in the same house all of her 37 years. "I think we all thought it was kind of crazy, so we didn't say anything for a while."

100 trains not to blame

Neighbors discount freight trains as the culprits, even though they rumble past the neighborhood more than 100 times a day, as they've done for years. They can't think of any industry that's new or different except the bridge, but the Minnesota Department of Transportation said that nobody works on the construction in the evenings or overnight.

Corb Hopkins, the neighborhood mail carrier and a City Council member, said he hasn't felt the vibrations down the street from where he lives, but doesn't doubt it exists.

"Down here in Newport we have very little topsoil and everything sits on limestone," he said. "We're all sitting on the same slab of rock. If there's vibration, it's going to carry."

But Val Chandler, a geophysicist with the Minnesota Geological Survey, said bedrock vibrations don't carry far. "The most likely culprit would be heavy machinery activity nearby," he said. "It's not very likely that it's a natural earthquake, or somebody would recognize it as such."

Dottie Conklin, Bailey's mother, has felt the vibrations for about a month. She has watched bottled water shake on her kitchen table while her neighbor has told her that his windows rattle.

Most of the houses along 1st Avenue N. were built in the 1960s or 1970s, and in many cases, residents have lived there long enough to recognize anything out of the ordinary -- until now.

"It's kind of befuddling," said Chandler, who is more inclined to think that the vibrations come from bedrock when caverns collapse deep below the surface or when a big new dam is dug. Just why residents of one block in Newport feel the vibrations and others don't deepens the mystery, he said.

A bulk fuel plant, a frozen-foods storage company and a garbage recycling firm that's been operating for 21 years surround the neighborhood, Hopkins said, but he doubts that they're doing anything new that would cause vibrations. Newport's public works department couldn't find the source of the problem either. Hopkins recognizes that the shaking annoys residents, but doesn't know what the city should do next.

Wiersgalla said that her husband wants to move. She said the vibrations are wearing down her family -- she logs the times when it rouses her daughter at night -- but she doesn't want to leave.

"As long as I don't wake up some morning and find my house bouncing in the Mississippi River, I'll be all right," she said.

Researchers Determine Morrison Ghost Photo 'Authentic'

Click for video - Jim Morrison has been dead for almost four decades but a snapshot belonging to longtime rock historian Brett Meisner allegedly shows the Doors frontman haunting his own grave. And now, just in time for Halloween, researchers now claim the image is authentic.

Back in 1997, Meisner decided to take a snapshot next to the rock legend's grave in the famous Père Lachaise cemetery in Paris, not exactly an uncommon thing to do considering some 1000 people visit the grave daily. The photo, taken by Meisner's assistant, shows the historian casually standing next to Morrison's plot with one hand in his pocket and a white cloudy shadow to his left, the latter going unnoticed until Meisner finally decided to revisit the photo in 2002. The cloudy obscure image to Meisner's left appeared to be the deceased singer himself.

Word quickly spread thanks to the Internet and the historian sent the photo in for further analysis, which concluded that the snapshot was indeed as bone chilling as it was first perceived. In a new book titled 'Ghosts Caught on Film 2: Photographs of the Unexplained,' researchers rule out both lightning and image manipulation and conclude that the photo is simply "unexplainable."

"Part of me wishes that I never stepped foot into the graveyard in the first place," Meisner told the UK's Sunday Express. His life was never the same after taking it. Not only did his marriage dissolve, but in an eerie coincidence to Morrison's life, Meisner lost a close pal to a drug overdose as well. The photo also brought all sorts of characters to Meisner's door, claiming they bore messages from the rock god.

"At first it was sort of interesting to see how many people felt a spiritual bond with Jim and the photo," Meisner said, "but now the whole vibe seems negative." Meisner hopes to privately donate the photo and negative.

Scary Tales From Small Town America - Ryan Fletcher of West Lafayette, Indiana believes in ghost tales and hauntings.

"I lived in a house that was haunted on the north end of town by an old woman and an old man," said the 31-year-old. "I saw them. (They) looked like static. It was really weird."

To make matters worse, Fletcher said a neighbor told him that an older couple had died in that house, on North 13th Street in Lafayette.

Eerie stories like Fletcher's haunting tale seem to surface around Halloween -- rekindling the innate fear that people have of the unknown and supernatural. Authors Dorothy Salvo Davis and W.C. Madden have documented similar stories in their new book, "Haunted Lafayette," which was published in September by Haunted America, a division of The History Press.

The book tells anecdotal recollections of hauntings in houses and landmarks. It highlights local urban legends and eerie historical suicides and murders, such as the true story about James Moon, a man who committed suicide in the Lahr House (now called the Historic Lahr Apartments) in 1876 using a homemade guillotine. And it contains the story of Marcia Heald, a woman who murdered and attempted to decapitate a woman in a Lafayette apartment in 1982.

A self-professed history lover, Davis said the supernatural aspects make the

historical components interesting.

"I thought people would read about history if a ghost story was attached," she said.

Many of the stories in the book have a historical nugget of truth attached to them.

For instance, one of the hauntings described in the book involves the mysterious train wreck on Halloween 1864 where Union soldiers died while returning from the Civil War. The accident occurred eight miles south of Lafayette on Dead Man's Curve.

The names of the soldiers are still documented on a large monument in Greenbush Cemetery. It reads, "In memory of Confederate prisoners of war from Camp Tippecanoe who perished in 1862 and Union soldiers killed in the Crane railroad wreck of 1864."

According to the book, people in the vicinity purportedly hear the sound of the speeding train followed by the crash on Halloween.

Davis said she hopes readers are entertained and educated about local history.

She said her favorite story in the book is the tale of the ghost of John Purdue in West Lafayette. According to the book, the ghost of Purdue's namesake longs to reunite with his mistress.

"I thought that was a neat story," Davis said. "I like the romantic appeal to it."

Both Davis and Madden live in Monticello. Madden, a former journalist, is Davis' mentor and published her first book, "Ghost Stories of White County."

The two of them said they are not ghost hunters, but writers who decided to document people's stories about supernatural folklore.

"I'm not necessarily a true believer in ghosts because I have not experienced it," Madden said. "We leave it up to the reader to decide whether they believe it or not."

Alien Home Invasion Update: Portal / Stargate Appears

NOTE: As stated in October 2008, I was hoping more evidence was forthcoming. These newly released images were captured on a high speed camera (30 frames per second) placed in the witness' bedroom. The transporter would develop in front of the television. In avoid damage to the equipment (the aliens are not akin to be photographed) the witness used a solar filter with a mirrored back and captured the transporter image from the reflection. At least two 'beings' are depicted coming through and hovering in front of the 'stargate' for several seconds. These images were selected from a large cache of photo captures. The witness states that there are 4 different 'stargate' type transporters, each vary in speed and size. The larger version develops into a wall-sized portal which the witness and his spouse were forced through on different occasions. Please read the background to this ongoing alien home invasion. There are going to be many questions and naysayers, but I hope I can answer your inquiries with satisfaction as time goes forward. I will post additional evidence as soon as it examined and confirmed for publication...Lon

Pleiadians or Reptilians. Are the stories true? Back in August, I posted a video of an alien figure that was captured by a middle-aged man you resides in the panhandle area of Florida. Today, I was contacted by the same gentleman and given an insight to many of the encounters that he and his family have experienced since he moved into his home. The 'creatures' still transport into his residence and not all are of the same 'species'. I am going to present a small portion of the evidence provided to me to gauge the response. I will post more of the photos and information as it is given to me. Please note...the 'gentleman' (as I will refer to him) trusted me to be discreet in my presentation to the public, so I am not going to divulge a name and specific location. I will state that I believe this person to be credible.

This photo was taken as a 'reptilian' appeared before the gentleman. They appear in 'solid' form as they arrive then within a split second transform to a non-solid, holographic type form. They are said to use a type of 'stargate' transport system, though they do use propulsion craft as well and have the ability to move within conduits (electrical & telephone lines). The gentleman states that he and family have been transported to locations off and on Earth, included underground cities that are located on this planet. The creatures can speak our language and, for the most part, conduct themselves like humans.

Here are other photos of the creatures in a non-solid form. It appears as a bright light in the photos but seems to change rapidly. The gentleman states that these creatures move about his home at all hours and can be seen in various sizes and form.

As I stated previously, I will present the photos and information over a non-specific period of time. Hopefully others will come forward to add to these accounts.
