Video: Images of Alien Hybrid Surfaces

Note: these images surfaced this weekend and, supposedly, were smuggled out of the UFO Congress in Nevada in February 2009. I was not there or privy to any of this information, so I'm going on what little information I have found or heard today.

This creature was found in an undisclosed location in Mexico and the people who found it tried to keep it captive. They stated it chewed one it's hands off to get free was also screaming loudly. Out of panic, they tried to drown it. After 30 mins. they took it out of the water and it was still alive, became very violent and louder then ever. They again put it back in a bucket of water to kill it for fear of it getting away. After 45 mins. they again took it out and it was angrier then ever. They did manage to kill the creature after securing it in the bucket of water overnight.

The feet are identical to human feet, it has the same amount of teeth and vertebrae as a human and the skull appears to be similar to the 'Star Child'. This is believed to be a hybrid but created by humans in research and escaped. Reports of similar beings, about 2 feet tall and seen in the same area, are trying to avoid human contact as much as possible.

Footnote: I realize that this presentation was made by Jaime Maussan and that many ufologists and critics, especially here in the US, have branded him as unreliable because of some questionable sightings in Mexico City. But overall, I consider Maussan to be a very serious researcher despite the dubious actions of others...Lon

Theater's Ghostly Residents Always Willing to Perform

The next time you take in a show at the Lions Lincoln Theatre in Massillon, Ohio and observe empty seats, you might want to take a closer look.

There just might be someone or something filling them.

Recently, Paranormal Debunking and Investigating LLC – a group of paranormal investigators that prides themselves on debunking the things that go bump in the night – investigated the historic downtown theater.

PDI founder Jim O’Brien said the group approached Lincoln officials about spending a night in the movie house after doing extensive research on the building which dates back to 1915.

O’Brien said the theater has a rich history, including a 1921 robbery and the possible death of a construction worker during the building phase. Besides housing the silver screen, it has also been home to doctor’s offices and a speciality clothing store.

Lynda Blankenship, a Lincoln Theatre volunteer, said to her knowledge there have been no real reports of spirits in the theater.

But, after spending a night with the PDI crew, Blankenship is a little spooked herself.

O’Brien “definitely believes there are some paranormal experiences going on in there,” but he stopped short of saying that the place was haunted.

“I wouldn’t say it is haunted but there is some kind of paranormal activity – what kind, I can’t tell you,” he said. “We only got to spend one night there. We need to study it a couple more times. We would love to go back.”

“Myself, I actually saw for a split second a woman’s face appear in front of me,” he said.

Using cameras, video cameras and tape recorders, investigators fanned out across the theater, exploring nooks and crannies of the theater’s underbelly, main theater and balcony for signs of paranormal activity.

Also, in one of the dressing rooms – which is believed to have been the women’s dressing room – two investigators got “violently shoved.” Pictures snapped in the dressing room, according to PDI, revealed a woman’s face in the mirror.

“That was something,” O’Brien said. “There were a few experiences there but some things we couldn’t catch.”

O’Brien said he and another investigator were in the basement and clearly heard footsteps walking toward them. He also claims to have been touched while on the stage.

O’Brien believes he spotted something on the steps leading the balcony of the theater, and with a partner, raced to the stairs to see who was there.

“Something patted me on the back. That kind of startled me,” he said. “I have been doing this a while but it still startles me.”

Another investigator had their camera pulled out of their hands.

Several voices – or electronic voice phenomena – were caught on recorders, including a plea from a woman for help.

“We had some good experiences,” O’Brien said. “You can actually hear those words being spoken over top of the investigators.”

In the upstairs of the theater, where several doctors once practiced medicine, O’Brien said the crew caught the image of a person in a mirror.

“To me, it looks like a doctor’s head,” O’Brien said. “You can definitely tell it wasn’t one of us. You can almost see something going around his neck (like a stethoscope). To me, that was excellent.”

The investigators also caught a number of orbs – a circular “light” image – in photographs, but O’Brien has no use for those photos.

“My people like orbs but I think it is just dust,” he said. “It can too easily be dust.”

An investigator who spent time in the projection room said he felt like someone was leaning on his shoulder. When he shared his story, the theater’s projectionist said he has had the same feeling.

One of the biggest mysteries of the night was the closing of the movie screen curtain.

“Nobody noticed it,” O’Brien said. “We had people down there (near the screen). Lynda (Blankenship) actually noticed it. When we got there, it was wide open. At the end of the night, the curtain had closed.”

Blankenship said during the investigation she asked what they would like to see played on the big screen.

“I asked, ‘Is there something you want to see on the screen?’” she said, noting she hadn’t considered how they would respond to her answer.

But they did, Blankenship said.

“The next day I told Jim (Lions member) to put ‘Now Voyager’ on the screen. He puts it on and it is a perfect match (to the curtains). It was hard work for us to get the curtain set for the movie – it was a thin and tall movie.

“It was a better (match) than when we had it set to show the movie,” she said. “Maybe they want more Bette Davis, more black and whites or more 1940s movies. I can’t explain it. The curtain is hard to move. For it to move that slowly that the guy standing in front of the stage didn’t see it move, it’s pretty bizarre.”

A lot of activity took place in Blankenship’s basement office, she said.
“There were temperature changes,” she said. “You could feel cold spots. The temperature would drop from 64 to 48 (degrees).”

O’Brien said he was pleased with the outcome of the investigation and he would like to spend more time in the theater to further investigate.

“A lot of cases, we get nothing,” O’Brien said. “We get nothing in photos, no EVPs. So when we get something, that is good. I didn’t expect to get anything out of the theater. I was kind of amazed that we got anything. I will put my reputation on my two pictures and the three EVPs.”

O’Brien’s interest in the paranormal was piqued at an early age when his grandmother passed away.

“That night I saw my grandma,” he said. “She came to my room and covered me up. It was a perfect vision of her. I wasn’t scared, I was a kid and it was my grandmother.”

The thing was, O’Brien’s parents had not told him his grandmother had passed away.

When he got up in the morning, he asked his parents where his grandmother was and that’s when he learned she had passed away.

O’Brien, along with his sister, Christine Brehm and her husband, Phil, spent childhood exploring old cemeteries and learning about the paranormal.

“We lived in the country in New York,” he said of the trio. “There was a family cemetery (on Phil’s property) that we would mess around in. I like to debunk things. I really want to know if there are spiritual things going on.”

O’Brien says he and the rest of the investigators – including his wife, Angel – are self-taught.

“You just learn as you do it,” he said. “When I started, I started with nothing, no camera I just went to old places and sat down and listened to see what would happen. That’s how we got started. It was a hobby.”

The Lincoln Theatre is one of the bigger locations that PDI has investigated. PDI mostly conducts investigation in homes but recently visited the Prospect Place Estate in Dresden. The home has been featured on the SciFi Network’s popular “Ghost Hunters.”

O’Brien said PDI doesn’t charge for investigations and they are willing to help anyone who believes they are experiencing paranormal activity. They do, however, ask that the client to buy the materials used in the investigation, including CDs and tapes.

PDI never conducts séances or demonic activity during investigations and will keep clients confidential.

Besides the theater, PDI has approached other landmarks in the city about possible investigations. So far, none have signed on.

In the meantime, O’Brien and theater officials are working on possibly hosting ghost tours at the theater to allow people to experience the paranormal.

The notion that she might not be alone while in the theater hasn’t rattled Blankenship.

“Now I just say hello to them when I come in,” she said. “Apparently, the clairvoyant said the building is alive with joy and happiness. I am sure I’ll be there in time.

“If we have spirits in the house, we will treat them with the same respect we treat all our audiences with.”

Organic Molecules Discovered in 66-Million Year Old Fossil

In 1999 teenager and budding palaeontologist Tyler Lyson discovered the fossil of a mummified dinosaur, later dubbed Dakota, on his family’s farm. Dakota is one of only five dinosaur mummies ever discovered and is an important paleontological find.

Dakota was found with its skin envelope, along with other areas, including its tail, arms and legs, largely intact. In this almost complete form, Dakota is essentially a three-dimensional fossil.

In December 2007 Dr Phil Manning, a palaeontologist at the University of Manchester and the leader of the recent excavation at the site of discovery, said “the skin has been mineralised” and it was possible “Dakota could contain other soft-tissue remnants”, according to the National Geographic website. This means that scientists will have more to study than just bone. Dakota’s preservation allows for research into tissue-based substances such as tendons, muscles and organs.

On July 3, 2009, researchers said they had found “preserved organic molecules” in Dakota’s skin, according to Researchers said they believed Dakota’s soft tissues had failed to decay because they were protected by “fine sediments that formed a mineral cast”, preventing bacteria from eating away at the tissue.

To be in this condition, Dakota’s body would have needed to be mineralised, a feat in itself, and remained largely untouched by predators and unharmed by geological changes. Furthermore, Dakota would have had to be buried very soon after its death to be preserved in such an unusual way.

It is “absolutely amazing to be able to identify organic molecules from soft tissue that belonged to a beast that died over 66-million years ago”, said Manning, “this is the closest you’re going to get to patting the animal”.

Dakota, a plant-eating hadrosaur, is ranked in Manning’s top-10 fossils and is about 66-million years old. Advanced techniques have shown that Dakota was duckbilled and had a double layer of skin, similar to that of modern day birds and reptiles, which are likely to have been related to the ancient creature.

The rare find, with evidence of skin, tissue, internal organs and bones, provides a great insight into the prehistoric world. The scientific community has been amazed and excited at the discovery; Manning said it was “absolutely gobsmacking”.

Reader Recalls 'Ring of Fire' Encounter in Nebraska

NOTE: I received the following email from a reader a few days ago. He is asking others who may have witnessed this phenomena to come forward...Lon

I apologize for not using your e-form, but I don't have things set up to do that, and end up annoyed when I try to send the message and it asks a bazillion things for me to put in.

Anyway, I'm not sure if this is something you'd even be interested in, and the only other person there (former roommate in college) is dead.

I had just purchased my first motorcycle in Holdrege, Nebraska...just a little 360 Honda. My roommate had a larger bike that we went to Holdrege on. I'll explain the circumstances, because it won't make sense without it since it was dark.

My roommate knew the dealer and had him looking for a cheap bike for me. He found one, and I was excited. He asked when I could get there, and my roommate said "We'll go after I get off work at 5!" So that's what we did.

Since it was early April (1985 if my memory serves..slight chance it was 1986), we took warm clothes. Long story short, I bought it, and we headed back to Hays, Kansas. I think it was about 9 or 9:30 PM when we left the dealership. Leaving out the details, we come to a spot where the highway meets another highway, and is dirt if we went straight. My roommate explained that if we go straight, we'll get to his parents' house sooner (spending the night there), and I was freezing, but had little experience on a bike, and didn't wanna wreck on the gravel. So we went east, I think it was, toward Republican City, Nebraska. We go a few miles on a hilly highway, and pop over a large hill, and several miles in front of us was this burning ring of fire (I assume a was slowly going down on the horizon, and we could only see a little over half of it). We heard NOTHING, and this thing was HUGE! It looked larger than a sunrise in the morning, with obvious flames around the outside, but completely black inside of that. I know about atmospheric aberration and that type of thing, so I won't restate how big it was.

Like in a grade B horror flick, and without even looking at each other, we eventually slowed to a stop at the exact same time after a couple more hills. We just sat there for a few seconds, in the bottom between two other hills, and said nothing. I finally asked him, "Did you see that?"

He replied rather unsure, "See what? We're going the other way!" And we did. I don't know if he was checking his mirrors, but I didn't much. Too worried about wrecking.

I assumed due to the magnitude of the thing, there would be all kinds of news stories about it...but nothing. Not even a whisper about anything bizarre. I wish I hadn't listened to Mark, and I'd gone to see what it was, IF that were possible. I have contacted several sites to see if anyone else saw something...but I'll never forget what I saw.

Now, not trying to sound like a crackpot...I also witnessed three UFO's in southern Kansas on the 5th of July (2008) at about 2 AM. And no, they weren't fireworks. Fireworks don't go from the northern horizon to the southern horizon...especially with no noise, and with about a hundred yard streak behind them. All three (diamond shapes, golden in color) followed the exact same arc, and were at the exact same speed, like a formation. I may have a few drinks, but I don't do any drugs or mushrooms or anything like that. Just happened to be walking my dog to prepare him for bed in the house. Tried to get a pic, but #1, wasn't fast enough, and #2, the town I was in has HORRIBLE cell phone service. It's in a valley, and my cell rarely works there, but it was my second thought. First thought was "WOW!"

Hope I didn't bore you to tears with something you didn't want to read, and I really hope you don't have a filter that keeps you from getting this. I love reading about these kind of things, and if I had loads of money, I'd do physical investigating.

Thanks for your time. If you have anything, I'd appreciate hearing about it. If you want any more info, I'll give you what I can. If not, I'll just keep reading your site. It is great.

British MPs, Others Lobby President Obama to Stop McKinnon Extradition

Campaigners will call on the US President to let Gary McKinnon face trial in his home country for breaking into Nasa and Pentagon networks, rather than sending him to America where he could be jailed for up to 60 years in a high-security prison.

They will say that the 43 year-old has Asperger syndrome – a type of autism that makes him shy and prone to obsessive behaviour – and warn that his condition would likely deteriorate were he to be taken away from his home and family then jailed abroad.

The letter is being written by the National Autistic Society, a leading charity, and the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Autism, a cross-party alliance of MPs and peers that lobbies for better support for sufferers.

A spokesman for the society said: "The group are intending to write to Barack Obama.

"The letter hasn't been drafted yet but it will be finalised in the next couple of days. It may involve asking MPs for signatures."

David Burrowes, Mr McKinnon's local MP in Enfield Southgate, said: "We need to take it further and call upon Barack Obama himself to take action as the pleas have fallen on deaf ears so far."

Chris Grayling, the shadow home secretary, added: "I think it would be a good idea. I hope that even if the UK authorities feel unable to look again at the case, if it was legally possible for the US to do so, that would be a sensible position to take."

Mr McKinnon admits that he hacked into 97 US computers from a bedroom in north London between 2001 and 2002 and left a message on one machine saying: "I will continue to disrupt at the highest levels."

He says he was looking for evidence to show that the authorities have covered up the existence of UFOs.

However, the Americans claim he perpetrated "the biggest military hack of all time" and that it cost them more than $700,000 (£436,000) to repair the damage he caused.

He was originally indicted in 2002 and in 2006 the UK authorities agreed to extradite him to the US for trial.

Since then he has appealed against his extradition to the House of Lords, the European Court of Human Rights and the Home Secretary but each attempt has failed.

Earlier this week he went to the High Court in a bid to force the Director of Public Prosecutions to put him on trial for computer misuse in the UK.

Judges were told that even though the "eccentric" Mr McKinnon admitted breaking the Computer Misuse Act, the Director of Public Prosecutions, Keir Starmer, QC, has said there is insufficient evidence to charge him.

Judgement is expected by the end of July as to whether the decision not to try him in the UK should be subject to a judicial review.

On Wednesday, MPs told Alan Johnson, the new Home Secretary, that his case shows a review is needed of Britain's "unbalanced" extradition treaty with the US.

The Extradition Act 2003 requires the US only to show "reasonable suspicion" that the intended subject committed a crime before they can be removed from Britain, a lower threshold than British authorities must show in order to bring an American to trial.

However the Conservatives' call for a review of the treaty was defeated by 290 votes to 236.

Mystery Carcass Found on New Zealand Beach

I received an email from a reader in New Zealand stating that this carcass was found earlier this week in Gisbourne, North Island, New Zealand. Actually, it looks a bit like the infamous Long Island 'Montauk Monster'...the reader had no idea what this creature was. A few others and myself have been bouncing it around and no Kiwi mammal comes to mind...Lon

Connecticut Psychic Threatened, Severely Beaten

After receiving threatening phone calls and being injured by a man during a midnight attack in Greenwich over the weekend, a local psychic says someone is trying to drive her out of business.

Janet Lee said she was taken to the hospital after being beaten by a man outside her office at 16 Greenwich Ave., in Greenwich, late Friday night. She also has an office at 565 Westport Ave., in Norwalk.

Four days before the attack, which left her with a black eye and a cut on her face, Lee reported to Norwalk police that a woman left several threatening phone messages focusing on her business and her son.

Norwalk and Greenwich police said they are investigating Lee's complaints.

In one of the messages the woman said, "This town is not big enough for the two of us. We want you to take down your sign," said Lee, who lives in Norwalk.

In another call, the woman described her son, the car he was driving and even the fact that he was going to a summer program at his Westport school, said Lee, who would not give her age.

"They never said they were going to hurt me, they kept saying, get out of town or else," Lee said. "It is difficult for me to comment on what is going on. I do not know what is going on."

Lee said she walked out of her Greenwich office at about midnight Friday when a man attacked her with his fists. The man told her that he was going to kill her, she said.

Greenwich police Lt. Daniel Allen would not confirm Lee's name, but said police were called to Greenwich Hospital at 1:13 a.m. Saturday to interview a woman who said she was attacked outside of 16 Greenwich Ave.

"I can't give any further information. It is still under investigation," Allen said.

Norwalk police Sgt. Andre Velez said police are investigating Lee's complaint of harassing phone calls and are aware of the Greenwich investigation. He would not discuss the case further.

Lee said she has been a psychic in Norwalk for eight years and told people's futures in Greenwich for 10. Until 2004, she even had a two-year stint as a "promotional" psychic at Saks Fifth Avenue in Greenwich.

Lee, who says she has a large clientele and describes herself as a "life coach," said it is not unusual for her to receive crank calls. But these calls were different, she said.

Late last week, Lee said someone was tampering with the sign at her Norwalk office.

Lee said she has heard that another psychic is coming into the area, but has no idea who it is.

Her psychic gifts are no help to her in this investigation, Lee said.

"I am not able to read for myself or my children. I can only see things for other people," Lee said.

Reader Mailbag: Psychic Child / Very Active House

I received an email from 'Fran' in Pittsburgh, PA on Tuesday evening in reference to his teenage daughter, who has experienced psychic ability since she was very young. Until recently, though, Fran has been reluctant to acknowledge his daughter's spiritual sensitivity even though she has described 'others' including an old man with a pipe sitting in the backyard and an occasional horrific apparition hanging by a rope from her bedroom ceiling. He did seek assistance from a psychic friend who is helping her to control the visions and to lessen her fears.

Now, the real reason Fran contacted me was because of the images his daughter has captured on her cellphone camera. I have seen 2 images (pictured above...Fran has given me permission to use images), both of herself, that include 'something' else. One of the images was blurry but indicated that a large dark entity standing or floating behind her. The other image was taken with her dog (who is distracted and looking away) but distinctly shows an undistinguished apparition between them.

I have suggested that Fran seek the help of a very good paranormal group (ex. Penn State Paranormal Research) and medium. Many people have seen the great work medium Chip Coffey and others have done with psychic children. I feel Fran's daughter could benefit from a similar intervention...Lon

On or about June of last year (2008), I was sitting in my living room watching TV at approx. 2:00pm, when a young blond haired boy burst through the wall next to my fireplace, and as he stared right straight at me, ran through the living room and disappeared into the dining room. I immediately froze from shock and surprise. Then after a moment gathered myself and ran after him. But he had disappeared. When I mentioned something about it to a neighbor, he said that it must be Josh. Josh lived in our home in the 1980s, and was hit and killed by a car one block away. This is but one of many events that occur in our home.

My husband has witnessed two men come down our hallway in the middle of the night and turn into the spare bedroom only to disappear.

Back in June (2009), as I again sat watching TV at about 10:30pm, the vertical blinds on the window behind me suddenly blew out from the bottom like a great wind had blown them. Not thinking that I had already closed the windows for the night, I went to close the window and found that it was already closed, but that it was perfectly calm outside. I immediately went to bed as I was pretty freaked out.

As I was again preoccupied watching the tube, something caught my eye in the hallway. You know how when your in a darkened room, and someone opens the door from a brightly lit area you see the light around the edges of the doorway? Well I saw that same thing, only the doorway was opening in the middle of the hall. I have no idea what it was.

We have lived in our home for 6 yrs. and have experienced something odd at least once weekly. We don't feel these spirits are harmful and have grown used to such things. Unfortunately not all of our guests feel the same. Ms. Mickey

Professor Encounters Large Red Sphere UFO - Camdenton, Missouri

MUFON witness report: July 8, 2009 - Camdenton, Missouri - Large Red Glowing Spherical Object Moving Slowly About 150 Foot Above Ground Right in Front of Me

I was taking a motorcycle trip along Route 66 and I was riding my motorcycle to a fellow professor's cabin on Lake of the Ozarks Missouri to stay the night off the Route.

I got the directions wrong to his cabin and was heading West on Highway 54 at about 11:00 p.m. CST right on the outskirts of Camdenton, Missouri when I noticed a large sphere on the left hand side of the highway above a commercial building (it was South).

I thought it was a large dealership type balloon at first, but it started moving very slowly across the highway in a zig zag style fashion.

I immediately slowed my motorcycle speed down to about 10 mph, as I was transfixed on the object and could not keep my eyes off of it. I thought it was maybe a hot air balloon ride as I got closer and thought it was amazing that they had hot air balloon rides so late and so low to the ground in the Ozark hills.

It was a spherical type object but was not static in was hard to identify what it was for some reason. I couldn't see any type of hot air balloon basket, but for some reason I felt as if I was being watched while riding on the bike.

I kept wanting to pull my bike over to take a picture, but was too amazed at the object that I didn't for some reason.

It was large (the size of a small house) and floating about 150 foot above the was reddish colored with a glow (I thought the glow was the fire for fire for the hot air balloon). It passed right over the top of me along the highway and was hovering along the right side of the highway (the North side).

I was trying to find a place to pull my motorcycle over so I could take a picture, but trees were getting in the way, but I could still see the object for another 10 to 15 seconds or so. I finally found an open spot with no trees to take the picture and within seconds of getting off my motorcycle, the object faded extremely fast heading in a 45 degree angle.

It was literally gone within a few seconds, but there were no obstructions or trees for it to dissappear behind.

It couldn't have been a hot air balloon because of the exit speed and how low to the ground it was. It was definitely sphere-like. The whole experience lasted only a minute or two, but I have tried to rationalize what I saw almost every minute of the day since then (It was 6 days ago).

The professor's cabin who I was staying at knew what I had seen, as he had seen the exact same type of object hovering above Lake of the Ozarks 3 years ago in late fall 2006.

We are co-workers at a University...both professors...I am a Law professor and he is a Marketing professor. He told me that I could come forward with his information as well. Him and his wife both witnessed the object hovering above Lake of the Ozarks for about 5 minutes...they could not believe their eyes...and were also so transfixed that they didn't capture it on film. He informed me that he kicks himself all the time for not taking a picture or video, but for some reason he was so mesmerized he didn't move.

The fellow professor and his wife never told anyone but relatives in the past...but him and I have talked for hours in the past 6 days to try to rationalize what we saw, but there is no rational known explanation of the object, how it moved, it's size, shape, and aura around it.

I have never been an avid UFO follower and was not looking for a found me...and I completely believe and now intend to spend my summers investigating this phenomenon (as a professor my summers are fairly free). I will help you in any way I can...I am 100% CERTAIN that I witnessed a a lawyer and law professor I am very skeptical without evidence...but the evidence was literally about 150 feet right above in front of was the most amazing thing I have ever witnessed in my life. I will remain anonymous for now, but if for proof or other purposes you may request me to come forward, I may at some later time. I also plan to get a tattoo of what I saw on my body...I do not have a photo, sketch or audio or video as of right now, but I intend to have one created for my tattoo.

11-Year-Old British Girl Hauls In 9 Ft, 193 Lb. Record Catfish!

There should only have been one winner. On the riverbank was Jessica Wanstall, 4ft 10in tall weighing less than six stone (84lb) and something of a tiddler among anglers.

In the river was a monster, a near 9ft catfish that hit the scales at a record 13st 8lb (193lb).

But despite its size and whiskery age, the fish was no match for the skills of 11-year-old Jessica who waged a 20-minute battle to land her prize.

Jessica, from Sittingbourne, Kent, hooked the fish during a trip with her father to the Ebro River in North-East Spain. She said: ‘I didn’t realise just how big it was until I saw the photos afterwards. I look tiny next to it.

‘My dad thought it was going to be a small one and I told him it didn’t feel small when I picked up the rod. It was really hard work pulling it in and my arms turned to jelly.

‘My dad helped lift it on to the bank and I just laughed when I saw it. It was massive.’

Her father Mark, a 49-year-old engineer, helped return the catfish to the river after his daughter’s triumph was photographed.

He said: ‘Jessica normally catches tiddlers but just loves a day’s fishing.

‘As the fish got near we could see how big it was. Then its tail came out of the water and it looked like the Loch Ness Monster. Everybody on the bank was gasping. I’m so proud of her.’

And so he should be.

According to the International Game Fish Association, Jessica has set a world record for a freshwater fish caught by an angler aged 16 and under.

‘Her catfish easily outweighs the previous record - a 120lb Nile perch caught at Murchison Fall, Uganda, in July 2000,' a spokesman said.

Mysterious 12-Mile-Long 'Blob' Floating Off Alaskan Coast

Something big and strange is floating through the Chukchi Sea between Wainwright and Barrow.

Hunters from Wainwright first started noticing the stuff sometime probably early last week. It's thick and dark and "gooey" and is drifting for miles in the cold Arctic waters, according to Gordon Brower with the North Slope Borough's Planning and Community Services Department.

Brower and other borough officials, joined by the U.S. Coast Guard, flew out to Wainwright to investigate. The agencies found "globs" of the stuff floating miles offshore Friday and collected samples for testing.

Later, Brower said, the North Slope team in a borough helicopter spotted a long strand of the stuff and followed it for about 15 miles, shooting video from the air.

The next day the floating substance arrived offshore from Barrow, about 90 miles east of Wainwright, and borough officials went out in boats, collected more samples and sent them off for testing too.

Nobody knows for sure what the gunk is, but Petty Officer 1st Class Terry Hasenauer says the Coast Guard is sure what it is not.

"It's certainly biological," Hasenauer said. "It's definitely not an oil product of any kind. It has no characteristics of an oil, or a hazardous substance, for that matter.

"It's definitely, by the smell and the makeup of it, it's some sort of naturally occurring organic or otherwise marine organism."

Something else: No one in Barrow or Wainwright can remember seeing anything like this before, Brower said.

"That's one of the reasons we went out, because in recent history I don't think we've seen anything like this," he said. "Maybe inside lakes or in stagnant water or something, but not (in the ocean) that we could recall ...

"If it was something we'd seen before, we'd be able to say something about it. But we haven't ...which prompted concerns from the local hunters and whaling captains."

The stuff is "gooey" and looks dark against the bright white ice floating in the Arctic Ocean, Brower said.

"It's pitch black when it hits ice and it kind of discolors the ice and hangs off of it," Brower said. He saw some jellyfish tangled up in the stuff, and someone turned in what was left of a dead goose -- just bones and feathers -- to the borough's wildlife department.

"It kind of has an odor; I can't describe it," he said.

Hasenauer said he hasn't heard any reports of waterfowl or marine animals turning up.

Brower said it wouldn't necessarily surprise him if the substance turns out to be some sort of naturally occurring phenomenon, but the borough is waiting until it gets the analysis back from the samples before officials say anything more than they're not sure what it is.

"From the air it looks brownish with some sheen, but when you get close and put it up on the ice and in the bucket, it's kind of blackish stuff ... (and) has hairy strands on it."

Hasenauer said the Coast Guard's samples are being analyzed in Anchorage. Results may be back sometime next week, he said.

The two Coast Guard experts sent up to overfly the area with the borough said they saw nothing that resembled an oil slick, Hasenauer said.

"We brought back one sample of what they believe to be an algae," he said, and a big algae bloom is one possibility.

"It's textbook for us to consider algae because of all the false reports of oil spills we've had in the past. It's one of the things that typically comes up" when a report turns out not to be an oil spill after all.

But, he said, "there's all types of natural phenomena that it could be."

Meanwhile, the brownish-blackish gunk is drifting along the coast to the northeast, Brower said.

"This stuff is moving with the current," he said. "It's now on beyond Barrow and probably going north at this point. And people are still encountering it out here off Barrow."

For the most part, the mystery substance seems to have stayed away from shore.

"We did get some residents saying it was being pushed against the shoreline by ice in some areas," Brower said, "but then we get another east wind and it gets pushed back out there."

'Michigan Dogman' Recently Sighted in Upper Peninsula

NOTE: the following emails were received yesterday in reference to at least 2 sightings of the supposed 'Michigan Dogman' in Baraga County, Upper Peninsula, Michigan. I have contacted the witness who seems very truthful and credible...Lon

Last fall, my son and I were driving on US-41/M-28 towards Three Lakes in Michigan's Upper Peninsula (where I live). The beast ran across the highway near Tioga Creek. I had not heard of this before reading Phantoms and Monsters, but this is exactly what we saw. We are familiar with all animals living here. Moose regularly cross in front of drivers, so we watch the sides of the roads carefully. We were very puzzled and thought it might be some mutant wolf and could not figure out what we witnessed. It ran fairly fast about 50 feet in front of our truck. It was so strange because the front of it was much higher up than the back, larger than a wolf. Very strange to see it on your website.

NOTE: I contacted the witness and asked for any further detail of the sighting. This is what I received:

It did not look exactly like the video or drawings I saw, but VERY close. The side view shape of the animal was almost like an ape shape, with the front legs longer than the back legs which made it run funny. It ran like a bear runs, with the exception of the back legs being shorter if you can picture that. The front, from the angle I saw, looked like it must of had a wide chest. The head appeared wolf-like, but it definitely was NOT a wolf. The color was brown and black mixed. The hair seemed med-long, like a wolf, and I remember thinking it might of had mange, must of had patches of hair missing.

I was telling my son, who is 13, about what I had found on your site and asked him what he remembered. He gave the same description, how very strange and out of place it was. He said that this spring he saw the same type of thing on a logging road near our house (I do remember him telling me that at that time) and it was the same thing. He was riding his dirt bike (we live in an extremely remote area) and it ran across the trail. I know where he is talking about because I pick berries there and do get a weird feeling like something is watching me. A neighbor told me that area is "Bigfoot Central", which I did not know or believe. But after doing further research today, there are a lot of reports of strange creatures in this area that go back many, many years.

Who knows what it is, but as long as it's not hurting anything, I hope it is left alone. I am very familiar with the wildlife. I do hunt and know my tracks. I have not seen any strange tracks, but now will really keep my eyes open. Please keep me informed if you get any other reports from my area. Rhonda

Reader Mailbag: UFO Encounters and Night Visitors

A group of my friends saw UFO's during the late afternoon sunset up in Omaha, New Zealand a couple of years ago on Auckland anniversary weekend.

They got footage and a photo. I have seen the footage and you can't see much apart from a few specks in the sky and all of them talking about the UFO's and buzzing out about them.

But when we enlarged the specks, the objects had very distinct saucer shapes.

I don't care what anyone thinks of me or if they even believe me. I just don't care...... I saw what I saw and that's it!

One morning I left for work at a shoe store in the town where I lived at the time. It was a usual workday and my child got off from school about the same time every day.

This day she got off the bus in front of my store and I closed the store for about ten minutes to take her home to where her older brothers could watch her till I got off from work.

We got in the car and headed west down Hwy 97 in Zebulon, North Carolina, towards home. On the way there, I looked up into the sky because the whole sky seemed to darken, and noticed a HUGE craft 'floating' east north east, which would have taken it over the busy Highway 64 at just about rush hour.

It was very slow moving and was black.... not shiny black... the kind of black 'paint' you'd see on an aircraft that didn't want to be seen by radar. I slowed the car down to almost a stop. My child screamed for me not to stop because she didn't want to be 'taken' again.

I thought that was odd and I didn't stop, neither did I speed up at all. Instead quickly, I looked for another vehicle to see if anyone else had seen the same thing. No one! So I looked closely to see the object and remember what it looked like. I have made a three dimensional picture of the object.

The object was tremendously huge, with 'rooms' and 'halls' sticking out of the bottom. The 'rooms' were square, but with rounded corners. It looked as if the whole thing was a mold of some sort. I saw no lights, I saw no 'people' or 'aliens'. I saw no windows, just the bottom of something I would say was at least a half mile in width and at least a mile in length. I looked out both sides of the car to see how wide it was. The darkness of the craft was such that it covered the sky from one side of my sight to the other on both sides of my car.

The 'halls' were round not square. They went from one of the rooms to another. I didn't see the whole bottom because I was frightened and my child continued to scream to the top of her voice till we finally got home fifteen minutes later. The whole trip should not have taken but ten minutes and I didn't slow down for fifteen minutes on my way home. The craft slowly moved it's way east north east.

I am posting this in hope that someone in the year 1994 saw something huge like me and is willing to state the truth here. I do not believe the craft I saw was a UFO. I do however, believe that it was a US military object and that our country is very far ahead of anything most of us could ever dream. The craft was moving just above the trees and if I had stopped the car and threw a rock, I could have hit it.

This is the first time I saw a flying craft, but not the last time. I have seen several since then and now take a zoom lense camera with me at all times so I will NOT miss the opportunity to take a picture of one again.

NOTE: I'm posting this email in an attempt get the attention of the witness...hopefully she'll read and contact me...Lon

I'm writing to you because I'm being monitored on the spiritual plane and am receiving night visitors from another dimension.

Over the past few years, I've been having difficulty sleeping and I wake up with unexplained bruises and other marks on my body, that have no plausible explanation. So, I borrowed a night vision camera that uses infra-red light and set it up in my bedroom and other areas of our house.

Upon reviewing the pictures it recorded, I am stunned! One of the pictures shows some kind of alien arm, complete with an unhuman hand stretched over my upper body! There are also small feet sticking out of the blanket, that are also not human, in more than one picture from the night recorder. I also have a picture of some kind of orb, or small round white light hanging in mid-air. Also, in this same picture, there's something else in the picture which we can't distinguish what it is, but we do not have anything in our house that even resembles what's in this picture. In another photo, there appears to be some kind of white form or presence on the right side of my bed and there's an object which is also suspended in mid-air, which almost resembles a picture.

I'm very frightened, and don't know what to do about this. I've been praying to God for protection and I need for this stuff to stop. I'm a very religious person, and don't understand why this is happening to me. I'm also an orphan who has had a very difficult life, and have been hurt by a lot of people who have evil intentions. Also, when I get into bed and start to fall asleep (for a brief time, sometimes), I get a high-pitched noise in one of my ears, that gets louder and then it disappears as quickly as it comes. I've been to see an ear specialist and he's told me my hearing is fine (no hearing loss, either) and doesn't know why I get these noises in my ear (sometimes it's in one ear, or the other, but never both at the same time). I also have unexplained scars (or marks) on my lower neck and upper eye-lids, which are also unexplained. However, my psychiatrist told me upon looking at the scar on my neck, that she believes I have some kind of implant there. Please tell me how I can put a stop to what's happening to me. My health is declining and I'm wondering if this has anything to do with it. I hope to hear back from you. Tina

NOTE: I am once again appealing to Tina...please contact me with an update. I have tried to contact you the past 2 weeks but I cannot help or refer assistance unless I have an idea of what you're dealing with. If you desire to forward any photos or images you have available, be assured these will be held in strict confidence and not released if that is your wish...Lon

Big Cat Photos Causing Stir Among Researchers

NOTE: I received this email today from Mark Fraser at

Alex Mistretta based in Chicago, and BCIB USA rep was recently sent these photographs of a feline (1)caught on a trigger camera, and (2)several small photos of a big cat corpse. We would be interested in your opinions.

Further Communication from Alex:

A trail-cam photograph of what appears to be a large black cat has been making quite some noise recently among big cat researchers in the United States. I received the picture by email personally a couple weeks ago; only hours before I received another email, this time by a producer from Monsterquest. Monsterquest is a weekly series on various cryptozoological topics airing on the history channel here in the United States. How they found out that quickly I had received this picture, I have no clue. In any case they wanted to get in touch with whomever provided me with the picture. This all initially led me to believe that this picture was very recent, and hopefully someone could get to the site quickly and take measurements. An attempt was made, but a storm blew in, and that was that. As it turned out this was a moot point, the picture was not all recent, but taken in 2006.

After quite a few phone conversations, I was able to gather a little bit of information about the photograph. Some of the information that has emerged on the internet has stated that the picture was taken on public land. This is not true, the picture was taken on private property. In fact. the trail cam was set up, because the owner of that property had not only seen a big cat prior to this on the property, but had felt the need to run from it on one occasion. I haven’t received permission to print the witnesses name, so for now will remain anonymous. The owner, naturally curious about the animal, described as a large black cat, decide to attempt to obtain photographic proof.

In my inquiries into the matter, I focused on two aspect, the size and identification of the animal. Both have proven, somewhat problematic. In relation to the size, I tried to determine the size of the tree behind the animal. Here I obtained two separate measurements, and cannot verify which if any of the two is correct. One of the measurement stated that the tree was a Gum tree and measured 18 to 20 inches across. The other stated that it was an oak tree, 11 inches across and one foot up from the animal.

In terms of the identity of the animal, I cannot in all certainty state that this not a bobcat. The tail however seems to eliminates a house cat, and appears to belong to a large cat. The head is somewhat obscured, but seems small to me; much smaller then one would expect from a large cat such as a mountain lion or a leopard. I cannot distinguished the ears at all, which would have been helpful in species identification.

Former Travelers Haunt the Greyhound Bus Museum

The Minnesota Paranormal Study Group (MPSG), as well as the Northern Lights Paranormal Society (NPLS) of Grand Rapids, gathered in the parking lot of the Greyhound Bus Museum Saturday night.

Their mission — to observe and document any sound or sight inside the museum that could not be explained through conventional methods

MPSG, based in Hibbing, was founded by Adam Nori. Nori started the group to help people or businesses who may have problems with hauntings. MPSG conducts investigations for free, and the owner of the property has the option of keeping the results confidential.

Don Larsen, MPSG’s tech manager, explained that the social stigma of ghosts is a factor for people seeking help.

“Most (people that we work with) just want physical evidence that they aren’t crazy,” Larsen said. “I bet at least 80 percent just want to know that they’re not nuts.”

Larsen and other MPSG are committed to what they do.

“We take this very seriously,” said Larsen. “You don’t goof around, because you’re going to somebody’s house or business.”

Nori said that an important part is building a relationship with the owner seeking the team’s help and making them feel comfortable.

The group uses a variety of tricks and tools in their investigations, including infrared illuminators, simple voice recorders and both stationary and hand-held cameras.

This investigation was the third and final time the group would work in the Greyhound Bus Museum. Glen Katzenberger, assistant director of the museum, first brought the museum to the attention of MPSG.

Katzenberger became a believer in ghosts two years ago when he noticed objects moving around the museum and bus windows being opened without any explanation. When he saw MPSG at the “Field of Screams” in Chisholm, he approached them and asked if they would be interested.

Nori, who said he enters every supposedly haunted locale with skepticism, paid a visit to the museum. Katzenberger gave him a tour, during which Nori saw that the windows on all the buses were closed. When they went back through a few moments later, the windows had been opened, even though they were the only people in the building.

Although nobody on the team or Katzenberger can say for certain who or what is causing the phenomena, they suspect it has something to do with the close proximity of the museum to the North Hibbing cemetery.

“I just know that things happen,” said Katzenberger.

For Nori, ghost hunting has become a family affair. His fiancee, Kristin Rice, is also a member of MPSG, along with her uncle, Mickey Rice.

“History is what we’re dealing with,” said Mickey. “It’s the unknown (I like) — you never know what you’re going to come across.”

Kristin had a less-than-positive experience on her first visit to Greyhound. She and Nori were on one of the buses, performing an electronic voice phenomenon (EVP) session.

During an EVP session, a member of the team asks questions or makes requests of ghosts to see if they can record responses that aren’t always audible to the ear.

Kristin said she became nauseous during their session on the bus, and she and Nori eventually left. She spent the rest of the night in the lobby, watching the main camera monitor. When the footage of them on the bus was viewed later, the phrase “get out” was heard.

Kristin said a rule of the team is to never jump to conclusions.

“We’ve learned to debunk things,” she said. “If we can recreate it, we throw it out.”

This investigation marked the first time MPSG had worked with another team, NLPS.

“It’s nice to see what equipment (MPSG is using),” said Lisa Karnes, of NLPS. “An investigation is always a learning experience.”

The teams set up four stationary cameras and equipped most people with night-vision camcorders and voice recorders. They broke into three teams and investigated the bus garage attached to the museum, as well as the buses outside.

Members reported unusual sounds and rapid temperature changes in some spots.

Nori said of the investigation, “It went well, but the equipment is going to tell the story.”

Nori and his team will spend the next few days going through the hours of video footage and voice recordings. If they find evidence of something that cannot be explained, they will post it on their Web site,

Larsen said that the team is composed of people who understand that ghost hunting is not glamorous.

“A lot of people think, ‘oh, I can be in a group and go to all these cool places.’ It’s not like that,” he said.

The teams spent two hours alone setting up their equipment.

“The biggest word I think to describe our group and what I want out of it is integrity,” said Nori. “It’s the biggest thing you can have in the field. You can have billions of dollars of equipment, but if you don’t have integrity, you don’t have anything.”

Larsen added, “To me, it’s a rush. You don’t need to do drugs — just go into a really dark basement. That’s the rush. Most people are scared of the dark. I’m not.”

Moranbong University Training Mecca For North Korean Hackers

Moranbong University, which is directly managed by the Operations Department of the Workers’ Party, is said to be leading technical developments in cyber war against foreign countries.

A North Korean source said in a telephone interview with Daily NK on the 10th, “I heard that the U.S. and South Korea were attacked. If it were confirmed that North Korea was responsible, it would have been by the graduates of Moranbong University.”

According to the source, since the mid-1990s, the Workers’ Party has been watching the worldwide trend whereby the IT field started dominating, and founded Moranbong University in 1997 in order to train experts in data-processing, code-breaking, hacking and other high-tech skills. The results of new student selections, curricula and training are reported only to the Director of the Operations Department, Oh Geuk Ryul.

The foundation of the University was spurred by the North Korean invasion of the South in Kangreung, Kangwon Province in 1996. 26 North Korean special agents tried to infiltrate South Korea after passing under the Northern Limit Line in a special, mini-submarine, but they were all killed or committed suicide after the operation failed. After that, there was a debate within the South Korean Liaison Office under the Operations Department of the Party about the sending of spies to the South and collecting intelligence through contact with resident spies in South Korean society. After listening to such suggestions, Kim Jong Il approved the establishment of the university.

It is a five-year university which selects 30 freshmen every year. The university makes every freshman a military first lieutenant. In sophomore year, students take courses in martial arts, shooting and other special skills, and then they take courses in assembly languages, wiretapping, code-breaking, and hacking.

Graduates are dispatched to the headquarters of the Operations Department of the Party or local South Korea Liaison Offices, where they are put in charge of collecting intelligence from intelligence organizations and the military of South Korea, the U.S., Japan, China and other neighboring countries, or demolishing programs.

Since 2003, more than 200 graduates from the University have started working for the Operations Department or as professors of Moranbong University. Some of them have been dispatched to China in order to train in international techniques or to earn foreign currency as Chosun Computer Center (KCC) workers.

According to the source, Moranbong Univeristy is better than Mirim University, the former main educational institution for North Korean hackers, in terms of equipment, technology and curricula. It is located in Jung-district, just across from the No. 3 Government Building, in which the United Front Department, the Liaison Department and the Operation Department are stationed. The real purpose of the university is not officially revealed even to general agents of the Operations Department, because it is treated as top secret.

The source concluded, “Wiretapping has its limits because of a lack of equipment, but they have world-class hacking technology.”

New Theory: Could Sardinia be the Lost Island of Atlantis?

Top scholars have gathered in Rome recently to discuss the exciting and controversial idea that Sardinia is the lost island of Atlantis.

The theory, developed in a book by the Italian journalist Sergio Frau, has drawn international acclaim but also fueled heated criticism.

Despite selling 30,000 copies in Italy, a detailed 20-point appeal by 250 academics has dismissed the book, claiming it sensationalizes Sardinian history.

But the theory received a major boost last year, when the United Nations cultural heritage body UNESCO organized a symposium on the issue in Paris, suggesting the idea was worth serious consideration. Academics, archaeologists, geologists and historians from across Italy have met in Rome’s Accademia dei Lincei to look at the theory in closer depth and discuss possible paths of future research.

The meeting has also been timed to coincide with the opening of an exhibition on Frau’s ideas, originally shown in Paris last year. Atlantika uses Frau’s book, The Pillars of Hercules, as a springboard for exploring theories and ideas on the legendary island and its whereabouts. Neither the location nor the existence of Atlantis have ever been confirmed.

The first documented mention of the island dates back to ancient Greek philosopher Plato – circa 427-347 BC – who said it was destroyed by a natural disaster, possibly a tsunami.

Traditional theories have placed it somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean because Plato said it was beyond the Pillars of Hercules which, according to another ancient writer, Erathosthenes, were at the Straits of Gibraltar.

But Frau believes Erathosthenes, a librarian and geographer who lived in Alexandria in the third and second centuries BC, got it wrong and that the Pillars of Hercules were actually on Sicily.

Frau had his brainwave after seeing a print of two maps of the Mediterranean as it was in the Bronze Age.

One showed Tunisia and Sicily almost touching; the other, of the Straits of Gibraltar, was remarkably similar .

Frau thinks Erathosthenes moved the pillars because in the 120 years between Plato’s era and his, the Greek world changed dramatically, and the strait between Sicily and Africa was no longer at the outer reaches of the Empire.

Furthermore, geological shifts and rising sea levels widened the distance between Tunisia and Sicily, contributing to Erathosthenes’ mistake and reinforcing it over time.

If the Pillars of Hercules really were in Sicily, Sardinia would be the obvious location for Atlantis.

Frau’s research has revealed that the Nuragic civilization – named after the Nuraghes (stone towers) that were built on the island – flourished on Shardana (Sardinia) between 1400-1200 BC .

A catastrophic event, possibly a tsunami, is thought to have wiped the Nuragic people off Sardinia during the Bronze Age, around 1178-1175 BC .

Although Plato dated Atlantis to 9,000 years before his time, many historians think he meant 900 years, basing their judgments on his descriptions of the writing and bronze to be found on the island .

Furthermore, if the Pillars of Hercules were moved to the Straits of Sicily, Frau argues that many classical writings become more accurate in geographical terms.

For example, Herodotus writes of Corsica and the ancient city of Tartessos in one story as if they were near one another. If Tartessos were beyond the Pillars of Hercules in Gibraltar, the journey from there to Corsica would take more than a month by boat .

Another writer, Dicearcus, says that the end of the Adriatic is further from Greece than the Pillars of Hercules. “Malta and Gozo square up with this description, but not Gibraltar,” Frau said.

Theories of Atlantis' Location

Most of the historically proposed locations are in or near the Mediterranean Sea: islands such as Sardinia, Crete and Santorini, Sicily, Cyprus, and Malta; land-based cities or states such as Troy, Tartessos, and Tantalus (in the province of Manisa), Turkey; and Israel-Sinai or Canaan. In the area of the Black Sea the following locations have been proposed: Bosporus and Ancomah (a legendary place near Trabzon). The Sea of Azov was proposed in 2003.

The location of Atlantis in the Atlantic Ocean has certain appeal given the closely related names. Several hypotheses place the sunken island in northern Europe, including Sweden or in the North Sea. Some have proposed the Celtic Shelf and Andalusia as possible locations, and that there is a link to Ireland. The Canary Islands have also been identified as a possible location, west of the Straits of Gibraltar but in proximity to the Mediterranean Sea. Various islands or island groups in the Atlantic were also identified as possible locations, notably the Azores.

Caribbean locations such as Cuba, the Bahamas, and the Bermuda Triangle have been proposed as sites of Atlantis. Areas in the Pacific and Indian Oceans have also been proposed including Indonesia, Malaysia or both and stories of a lost continent off India named "Kumari Kandam" have inspired some to draw parallels to Atlantis, as has the Yonaguni formation of Japan. Antarctica has also been suggested.

The concept of Atlantis attracted Nazi theorists. In 1938, SS Officer Heinrich Himmler organized a search in Tibet to find a remnant of the Aryan Atlanteans. According to Julius Evola, writing in 1934, the Atlanteans were Hyperboreans—Nordic supermen who originated on the North Pole. Similarly, Alfred Rosenberg (The Myth of the Twentieth Century, 1930) spoke of a "Nordic-Atlantean" or "Aryan-Nordic" master race.

UFO Messages: Image of an Axthadan Revealed

By Michael Cohen

When I decided to really get to the bottom of the UFO issue I never thought I would get as far as I did. The concept of creating a news site almost entirely devoted to the topic has truly paid off. It has meant that we have received hundreds of leads, many from those within the cover-up and many from those with close links to people working on secret government projects.

Information is not easy to come by and, sadly, governments studying this phenomena and even communicating with aliens take this topic's secrecy very seriously. All News Web has pushed the envelope in this respect.

We thank those who, at some risk to themselves, have been feeding us UFO and extraterrestrial information. One of our informants recently sent us this rough sketch (above) of a member of the very real race known as the Axthadans or Ax Thadans.

Next to the Axthandan is a spaceship and above it small unmanned UFO probe. On the alien's left is an example of Axthadan architecture. We realise that this image shows little new: The fact is that information on these Andromedans has been percolating down to popular culture for years.

Remember 'The truth is always ridiculed at first' however, we know that in ten years time ufology will follow along the lines you read first here and Axthada will be a household name.

NOTE: well, I can't say that the author, Michael Cohen, isn't consistent. I'm posting these reports basically to see the reaction by the readers. Are you buying it? ...Lon

Strange Sightings Around Sicklinghall, North Yorkshire

Stories of ghostly encounters in Sicklinghall and the surrounding area are still coming in to the Wetherby News.

Since the spooky experience of Warid Miah, the Wetherby restaurateur who saw a man in the road and felt a hand grab him around the neck as he drove out of the village, was reported, current and former residents have been recounting their own stories.

This week, Dorothy Pelter contacted the Wetherby News after reading Denise Nottingham's account of living at the Clap Gate Inn during the late 1960s and 1970s.

Mrs Pelter said: "We lived opposite the Clap Gate Inn in the late 1970s. Our house used to be a smithy at one time.

"If the pub was 500 years old, the cottage must be. We excavated and put the damp proof course in and they dug all the floors out. We built a large kitchen and lounge and a bedroom above at the end. My daughter Jacqueline slept in an old bedroom that was like a cabin. I believe somebody who was at sea had taken the cottage before us and it was like a bunk bed in there.

"When I woke up one night, there was an old lady's head with a bonnet on just standing at the foot of the bed. It was the first week we moved in. It was only once and I just forgot it. My husband said, 'No, you didn't see that'. But it brought it back when I read the Wetherby News. Miss Nottingham was in the pub when we first moved in, but then a chap called Ted moved in and took over.

"My daughter worked for extra money at Linton Springs and they all said a ghost used to walk the corridors. She thought our house was ever so spooky."

Mrs Pelter left Sicklinghall in the late 1980s and now lives in Scarcroft, but said she is still interested in hearing other accounts of supernatural experiences in the area.

Forks, Washington Overrun With Vampires!

Residents of Forks, Washington State, are still stunned by what a piece of assiduous Googling from Twilight author Stephenie Meyer has unleashed on their town. Looking for the US's rainiest location in which to set her vampire series, she lighted upon the small town, population 3,221.

Fans of the books and film, based around Bella Swan and her dreamy vampire love interest Edward Cullen, began pouring into Forks. Today hundreds visit the town daily; its visitor count for June was more than 8,000 - around the number who used to come in a year. Restaurants have Twilight-themed menus with dishes such as Bellasagne, shops sell Twilight items, and tours cover the books' locations.

The logging town has been transformed, says Mike Gurling of the Forks Chamber of Commerce. "Two years ago we did not have a cash register or credit card terminal. Now our sales of anything that says 'Forks' have increased dramatically." A literary symposium was held last month in Forks high school, including - unusually for a symposium - "an actual, real Prom". Chris Cook, editor of the local paper and author of guide book Twilight Territory, says the school's principal was mobbed at a Seattle airport when a teenage fan spotted his Forks Spartan jacket and started yelling, "He's from Forks, he's from Forks!" The fervour is such, Cook says, that a local evangelist, Hallelujah Bill, has started preaching to fans about the dangers of becoming cult followers of the books.

While some don't like the attention Twilight has brought, others are enjoying the kudos. Cook says that "traditionally, Forks has been considered by Seattle folks as the sticks, the home of loggers and simple rural ways. Now it's a bit of a status symbol."

Susan Brager, who runs the Miller Tree Inn, now also known as Cullen House, says that although she isn't a huge fan of the books - "not great literature" - she definitely appreciates the tourists. "They like it when it rains," she says.

"What could be better than that for a community that gets more than 120in each year?"

Zimbabwean Family Horrified By Naked Witch

A Zimbabwean man was stunned to silence after he came face to face with a naked old woman - vampirically sucking his daughter's breast in the middle of the night, The Zim Diaspora can exclusively reveal.

The shocking incident has left people in headman Masunda’s area, Chivi district, Masvingo dumbfounded and horrified.

Although the case was not reported to the police, headman Chinodya Jongore Masunda confirmed the incident and said he presided over the matter at his community court last week.

Headman Masunda told our correspondent during a visit to the district last week that the man claimed to have come face to face with the witch who then quickly vanished into the thickness of the night.

The man, headman Masunda said, claims that his daughters were always complaining of breast pain and he decided to visit a prophet who gave him some holy water that he sprinkled in the house before they retired to bed.

The holy water was meant to give him power to see the witch when she came into the house.

They then went to sleep and at midnight the man claims to have seen the woman stark naked going into his children’s bedroom and he followed her.

He claims to have seen the woman kneeling down sucking the breasts of his teenage girl who had allegedly been complaining of breast pain.

The man claimed that he moved closer but the woman felt that something was wrong and she quickly got up and vanished into the dark night leaving the man stunned in horror.

In the morning, headman Masunda said, the man got up early, took his axe and went to the forest where he cut a branch of a tree known in Shona as "chizhuzhu’’ that he took to the woman’s house and blocked the entrance to her kitchen.

The headman told the our correspondent that the branch of the tree had a cultural significance that meant that the man was convinced that the woman was a witch.
The headman said the man was therefore accusing the woman of witchcraft.

The woman, however, was well aware of the significance of the branch of the tree that had been put by the man and reported the matter to the village head who in turn referred the case further to the headman’s court.

Headman Masunda, however, said the man, despite talking with so much conviction, failed to prove his allegations when he was brought to the headman’s court and was charged for witchcraft accusation. He said the problem was that the man failed to catch the alleged witch in the act so this presented a problem to the court.

He was initially asked to pay two beasts and 200 rand by headman Masunda’s court but leniency was exercised and the fine was reduced to a single beast and 200 rand.
The headman said the man, who believes that he was being punished unjustifiably, had not yet paid anything.

"It is true that there was such a case in my area that I presided over. The man, however, failed to prove his case against the woman and my court convicted him. He was alleging that he had so much faith in the prophet who gave him the holy water and was so convinced that he saw the woman kneeling and sucking the breasts of his teenage girl. Asked why he didn’t catch the woman, the man said the woman quickly vanished into the night after feeling his presence,’’ said headman Masunda.

The traditional leader decried the increase in the number of prophets in his area saying it had led to an increase in the number of cases involving witchcraft accusations.

Attempts by our correspondent to get a comment from the man were fruitless as he was said to have gone to Mashava.

A Wedding Day Ghost Photo

NOTE: the photo was submitted to The commentary from the owner of the photo and a reader feedback is interesting. What do you think? ...Lon

This is a photo of my aunt's wedding day. The year was 1942, and the photo was taken with a box camera. On some of my feedback I'm told it's not really there! Well, I know it is. This picture has been passed down. Please give me some feedback. I would like too see what everyone thinks. It was taken in Jasper, Alabama. -- Liz

It's an interesting photo. We have three possibilities:

1. It's an extraordinary case of pareidolia -- an illusion.
2. It's a hoax -- a very clever and well-executed one -- created with image editing software.
3. It's a genuine ghost.

I'm not ready to say it's a genuine ghost. And I think it's too detailed to be pareidolia. So I suspect -- and Liz, forgive me if I'm wrong -- that this is a manipulated photo. And my main reason for saying that is that the "ghost" is just too scary looking, like something out of a horror movie. It's just too theatrical. Your opinion? -- S.W.

Liz responds:

I thank you for your feedback on the wedding day photo, but I do not agree. These pictures were taken before I was born -- that's a long time ago. And when I saw the photos they have never changed. There is a lot about this picture no one can explain, and I think it's something paranormal. -- Liz

Lt. Col. Halt Confirms Alien Craft / Cover Up at Rendlesham

For years, Britain’s biggest UFO mystery had been kept under wraps, but now an Air Force official has admitted that an “extra-terrestrial” craft did visit the air base at Rendlesham Forest in 1980.

Former Deputy Base Commander Col Charles Halt claimed that even though the incident was later covered up, “extra-terrestrials” had been the cause of the close encounter in Suffolk.

Halt had led a group of airmen who reported seeing a triangular UFO taking off into the air, leaving traces of radiation behind.

“The UFOs I saw were structured machines moving under intelligent control and operating beyond the realm of anything I have ever seen before or since,” the Daily Star quoted Col Halt, now retired, as telling investigator Gary Heseltine.

“I believe the objects that I saw at close quarters were extra-terrestrial in origin,” he said.

He added that the Air Force later issued “dis-information” to throw the public off the scent.

His comments were hailed as “sensational” by former Ministry of Defence UFO investigator Nick Pope.

“This may help us to finally solve Britain’s biggest UFO mystery,” Pope said.

“It blows the MoD’s line that these events had ‘no defence significance’ out of the water,” he added.

Lt. Colonel Charles I. Halt, USAF and the Rendlesham Forest Incident

Charles I. Halt is a retired United States Air Force Colonel and the former Base Commander of RAF Bentwaters, near Woodbridge, Suffolk. After serving in Vietnam, Japan and Korea, he was assigned to Bentwaters as deputy commander. The Rendlesham Forest Incident of late December 1980 occurred shortly after that and he was an important witness to events on the second night of sightings.

In the late hours of 27 December, and early 28 December 1980 then Lieutenant Colonel Halt led a patrol to investigate an alleged UFO landing site near the eastern edge of Rendlesham Forest. During this investigation they witnessed several unidentified lights, most prominent of them being a bright flashing light in the direction of Orford Ness. In January 1981 Halt composed an official Air Force memorandum listing details of the events. The memo was then dispatched to the Ministry of Defence. Halt also made an audio tape recording of the incident.

After retiring from the US Air Force in 1991, Halt made his first public appearance in a television documentary, where he confirmed the authenticity of the Rendlesham Forest Incident. In 1997 he was interviewed by Georgina Bruni for a book about the Rendlesham event, You Can't Tell the People. He has also appeared in several television documentaries.

British Teen Brutally Assaulted By Poltergeist

A priest has been called in by a distraught mother after her teenage son told her he had been attacked by a ghost in the family home.

Beverley Wilkins turned to the church after son Daniel was left bruised and bewildered by what his family say could only have been a ghost or poltergeist.

The 13-year-old had finished school and was alone in their home in York Road, Hartlepool, when he claims he was suddenly pulled upright, dragged across the living room, taken to the front door and thrown out into the street.

The incident, on Monday, is said to have lasted five minutes before the startled youngster fled to a neighbor’s house.

Mom Beverley was collecting her five-year-old son, Ethan, from the town’s Barnard Grove Primary School at the time and returned to find a group of neighbors and a trembling Daniel outside her locked front door.

Single mom Beverley said: “Daniel told me he had been sitting on the sofa listening to music when he felt someone grab him and pick him up.

“His feet came off the floor and then someone started pushing him towards the living room door. Whatever it was then tried to push him into the kitchen. He said that the front door then flew open and he was grabbed by the arms again and pushed into the street. He did not see anyone throughout the whole thing but said it sounded like a man because of the heavy breathing.”

After cautiously entering their home, the family turned and fled after hearing banging upstairs and the sound of someone walking around.

They went to St Paul’s Church and explained what had happened to parish priest Father Richard Masshedar.

After enlisting the support of her mother, Kathleen Galloway, Beverley, her two-year-old daughter, Ellie, Daniel and Ethan all spent the night huddled together in one bedroom.

Throughout the night they claim a smoke alarm mysteriously bleeped with heavily-pregnant Beverley managing just one hour’s sleep.

Yesterday afternoon, Father Masshedar visited the family to offer support and say prayers for them.

He said: “I went to see the family as a first step and to offer prayers. We take it one step at a time and the first step was for me, as parish priest, to visit the family with a church warden.”

The landlord said it was the first time he had ever come across such a happening, said that if the family were too upset to stay at the house they would be moved as soon as another suitable property became available.
