World's Smallest Girl Shows Pride In Her Size

At just 1ft 11in tall, she is dwarfed by her neighbour's baby, but Jyoti Amge is 15 years old.

The teenager, who is the world's smallest girl according to the Indian Book of Records, has a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia. Now fully grown, she weighs just 11 lb.

Far from being unhappy about her tiny size, Jyoti says that she enjoys the celebrity status her height has brought her.

"I am proud of being small. I love the attention I get," she told the Sunday Mirror.

"I'm just the same as other people. I eat like you, dream like you. I don't feel any different."

Jyoti attends her local high school, in Nagpur, India, where she studies alongside classmates of her own age, though she sits at a specially made miniature desk.

Her mother, Ranjana, 45, explained that her daughter's condition was not apparent until some time after her birth.

"When Joyti was born she seemed quite normal. We came to know about her disorder when she was five," she said. "Jyoti is small, yet cute, and we love her very much."

Like any other teenager, she loves listening to pop music and watching DVDs and even hopes to become a Bollywood actress.

She has recently recorded an album with her favourite Indian pop star, Mika Singh.

Two Men Shared Heart, Both Commit Suicide

After Terry Cottle killed himself more than 12 years ago, his heart beat on in former Hilton Head Island resident Sonny Graham.

Grateful for the transplant that saved his life, Graham wrote to thank the Cottle family. Through that correspondence, he met Cheryl Cottle, his donor's widow. Then the unexpected happened -- they fell in love and married.

Earlier this week, the unexpected happened again, when Graham's life ended the same way Terry Cottle's did.

On Tuesday, Graham took his own life at his home in Vidalia, Ga. He was 69.

He was found with a single gunshot wound to the throat, said Greg Harvey, a special agent working the case for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. He was found in a utility building in his backyard and had used a shotgun, Harvey said. A medical examiner in Savannah performed an autopsy Wednesday. No foul play is suspected.

On Friday, a memorial service was held in Lyons, Ga. The heart that gave two men life was finally laid to rest.

THE GIFT OF LIFE

The story began in 1995 when doctors put Graham, who was on the verge of congestive heart failure, on a transplant list.

That same year, Cheryl Graham's first husband, Terry Cottle, shot himself in the couple's Summerville home, said Berkeley County Coroner Glenn Rhoad.

Rhoad said Cottle was on life support at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, so his organs could be donated.

Graham got a call from the hospital when Cottle was taken off life support. He rushed to Charleston, where doctors transplanted the heart later that day. When he was released nine days later, Graham didn't know the donor's identity. He knew only that the heart that saved his life came from a 33-year-old South Carolina man.

Then, in late 1996, Graham wanted to thank his donor's family for their gift of life. He connected with the Cottles after an exchange of letters through the organ donation agency.

Graham and widow Cheryl Cottle, then 28, corresponded for two months and met in Charleston in January 1997.

They married in 2004 -- three years after Graham bought Cottle and her four children a home in Vidalia, about 130 miles west of his Hilton Head home.

Between their previous marriages, the couple had six children and six grandchildren scattered across South Carolina and Georgia.

Graham retired from his job as a plant manager for Hargray Communications -- he was one of the original employees at the Hilton Head branch-- in 2003, and left Hilton Head to move in with Cheryl in Vidalia. Cheryl Graham, now 39, has worked at several Vidalia hospices, and is currently employed at Serenity Hospice.

She could not be reached for comment for this story.

A HELPER BY NATURE

Graham, a Georgia native, moved to Hilton Head in the mid 1960s, living in Hilton Head Plantation for most of the time since.

His friends said after Friday's memorial service that Graham was a well-rounded person who had many interests -- hunting, cooking, playing sports and helping raise money for Hilton Head High School. He was always willing to help, no matter the circumstances, they said.

"Any time someone had a problem, the first reaction was, 'Call Sonny Graham,'" said Bill Carson, Graham's friend for more than 40 years. "It didn't matter whether you had a flat tire on the side of the road or your washing machine didn't work. He didn't even have to know you to help you."

Carson, who served as director of The Heritage golf tournament in Hilton Head before Graham assumed the role in 1979, said he last saw his friend about two weeks ago on a fishing trip in Georgia.

"We didn't fish as long as I wanted to," Carson said in a slow, Southern drawl. "He said, 'I'm going to call you back when the fish are really biting.' "

Another kind of call came this week.

A COMPLICATED LIFE

Graham, who served as Heritage tournament director until 1983, came back to the Hilton Head golf event every year. In fact, badges for this year's

Verizon Heritage had already been sent to him, said Steve Wilmot, a close friend and current Verizon Heritage tournament director.

At the Heritage, Graham always volunteered with two close friends, even after leaving Hilton Head.

One of them is former Hilton Head High School principal Bill Evans, who still works for the Beaufort County School District.

Evans' daughter and Graham's son went to Hilton Head High together after Evans started as principal in 1986. At that time, the school still played its football games in Bluffton.

Graham changed that by organizing an effort to get Hilton Head High its own field, which -- unknown to him until the day it opened -- was named the Remus T. "Sonny" Graham Field.

"He loved the kids at that school," Evans said. "He stayed involved even after his son graduated."

Graham's daughter, Michelle Crozier, who lives in Bluffton with her husband, Kevin, and two daughters, echoed those comments.

"He was an amazing person," she said. "He was just one-of-a-kind -- a loving, generous father who will be deeply missed."

Evans said about 300 people attended Friday's memorial service. About half of them were from Hilton Head, Carson said.

"He was very loyal and very helpful," Evans said.

"And sometimes it was very complicated to be his friend

Strange Anomaly Caught on Game Trail Camera in Illinois

Anomaly is caught on 6 different images taken on a game trail camera in Illinois. We have posted one of these images. Please use the link to see the other images and read this interesting report.

Deer appearing to look at the strange object. What is odd is that the deer is in a state of alarm, meaning its tail is up. A white tail deer uses their tail up as a signal. Their tail can tell many different stories in communication with other animals. But in this image, the deer’s eyes and ears are focused toward the object and its tail is up in the alarm position

Florida Teens Believe Drinking Bleach Will Prevent HIV

Florida teens who believe drinking a cap of bleach will prevent HIV and a shot of Mountain Dew will stop pregnancy have prompted lawmakers to push for an overhaul of sex education in the state.

Another myth is that Florida teens also believe that smoking marijuana will prevent a person from getting pregnant, Local 6 reported.

State lawmakers said the myths are spreading because of Florida's abstinence-only sex education, Local 6 reported.

They are proposing a bill that would require a more comprehensive approach, the report said.

It would still require teaching abstinence but students would also learn about condoms and other methods of birth control and disease prevention.

The bill just passed its first vote in a committee, Local 6 reported.

Chupacabras Attack in Champoton, Mexico

Chupacabras reappeared in the municipality of Champotón, where it left dead eight hens and a turkey and without blood, but also a live rooster, in the house of Aurelio Tamay.

The birds were inside the hen house, where the entity or unknown arrived and sucked the blood from them and later escapes without leaving sign.

Tamay narrated that the dawn of the past Sunday [March 30, 2008] he listened to a great uproar and something like roars in the patio of his house. He went to investigate and in the penumbra he saw an animal of strange form that moved away.

The neighbors said that he is the Chupacabras, because the attack to the fowl has the same characteristics of when some years ago animal slaughters were registered in other parts of the country.

Alarmed by the strange event, several people integrated a brigade to look in bordering hills of the city, but they did not find anything.

The facts happened in the house of the family Tamay Ac, located in street 18 by 19, colony the Beach, in Champotón - distant coastal locality 75 kilometers to the north of this capital and nobody has explained how it is that the rooster survived the attack of this being.

The settlers assure that he is the Chupacabras, because the attacks to the hens and the turkey have the same characteristics of previous slaughters of goats, yearling calves and animals of corral.

The owner of the birds speaks

Tamay insisted on to have listened to uproar and a roar in the patio, and when leaving, it saw to an animal moving away. Later it discovered its destroyed birds and without blood, it related.

“The rare thing” Tamay declared - is that there were no tracks of which the animal has entered into the hen house, but the four hens that were inside had died in the same way that those of outside.

The case has become a mystery that caused commotion in Champotón. The neighbors of the colony the Beach have declared their fear by the supposed presence of chupacabras and they are already taking their precautions to avoid more attacks.

So far, all birds and animals have been protected inside of the houses, and a brigade crosses the streets by the nights with poles and machetes to catch or to kill the assumed chupacabras.

The family Tamay Ac requested additional surveillance by the police, whose agents indicated that until now there are no signs of Chupacabras.

UFO Cap: Stay Dry...Look Like An Idiot!

If you don't want to get wet when it's raining out and also don't mind looking like a complete jackass, the UFO Cap is for you. It's like a hat that has a giant brim that sits over your shoulders. Or something.

Essentially, it looks like a UFO, just like the name suggests, and I'm sure it does a great job of keeping you dry and leaving your hands free. But seriously, would you want to be seen in public with this thing on? It's downright ridiculous. I think I'd rather just get wet or at least carry around a normal umbrella, but your mileage may vary.

Return of the Cannock Chase Beast

The disturbing discovery of the fleshless corpse of a mutilated deer on Cannock Chase is leading many to believe that the mythical beast of Cannock Chase is back and on the prowl.

The image was snapped by a local man out for a Sunday stroll with his family.

Matthew Harrison, of Cannock, said that he was disturbed by the discovery. Every ounce of flesh seemed to have been stripped from the animal in a meticulous manner.

Matthew told us: "Me and the family were out for a walk at Cannock Chase on Sunday March 30.

"As we were walking I found a carcass of a deer.

"It was a very fresh kill - no smell and very few flies. What flesh was left was still red and fresh.

"To me, if the animal had died naturally, surely it would take a while for small predators (such as foxes) to dispose of the carcass, or for it to decompose.

"But the most interesting thing was that when I found another carcass only 200-300m away, this one had been killed or died a few months ago.

"Maybe the story of wild cats on the Chase are true, and this is one of its hunting places?"

Texas-based paranormal investigator and author, Nick Redfern, has spent many years investigating the mysterious ancient woodlands of Cannock Chase.

He said: "I've investigated quite a few big cat encounters on the Chase.

"There is definitely something weird going on and the theory that some of them (Bigfoot sightings) could be big cats in trees is a genuinely interesting one."

And Martin Rainer, Cannock Chase Coordinator for Big Cats in Britain, said: "I strongly believe these big cats are out there.

"Maybe not in the heart of the Chase, but possibly around the fringes which do not receive as much human traffic as the main Chase.

"There are several theories as to what these cats are, but we can only go on the facts.

"Seventy percent of all reported sightings are of a black animal.

"These can only be one of two - a black jaguar or a black leopard. Both are known as the Black Panther."

Bizarre Fanged Fish Found in Utah Pond

The bizarre-looking fish found in a Brigham City pond is sparking quite a response. Yesterday, we told you about how every single fish in the pond died of an unknown cause, but this particular fish stood out due to its fang-like teeth.

Biologists aren't sure exactly what kind of fish it is, but a lot of our viewers think they have the answer.

What is this fish? Where did it come from? People on our message board seem to know. One person wrote, "Looks like a cross between a trout, a gremlin, and my ex-wife."

"Is anyone missing a lawyer?" asks another. A lot of people are suggesting it's a snakehead fish, but is it? Take a look at the picture of a snakefish. What do you think?

We took a photo of the fish to the Living Planet Aquarium where there are unusual creatures and unique guesses everywhere you turn. Nine-year-old Sean said, "Whoa, I haven't seen that type of fish before. Kinda looks like a big piranha with very sharp teeth." Boston, 7, said, "Kinda looks like an alligator."

Aquatics experts don't believe it's an alligator, a piranha or a snakehead fish for that matter. Craig Schaugaard, aquatic manager for the Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR), says, "It does have an adipose fin, which is common in trout species." Aquatic biologists are leaning toward a lake trout.

Snakeheads don't have that particular fin. Snakeheads also have long dorsal and ventral fins, and this fish doesn't.

Another guess was a walleye. However, the mystery fish doesn't have spiny fins, which are a trademark of the walleye. Schaugaard says, "It's not going to be a new species, but it could be a species that's not native to Utah, like an aquarium fish."

Back to the Living Planet aquarium, our new experts are also a bit baffled. Three-year-old Ellie said, "It got big teeth."

While they don't know what it is, they are sure of what they'll do if they see one swimming nearby this summer. Sean said, "I would get out of the water in a hurry."

The DWR has the fish on ice right now. If they need to, they'll let it decay completely and then examine the skeleton to determine species.

Pope Benedict XVI Says John Paul II Had Supernatural Abilities

Pope Benedict XVI said that his successor John Paul II had supernatural qualities, while speaking at a mass in St Peter’s Square to mark the third anniversary of the latters death.

“Among many human and supernatural qualities, he had an exceptional spiritual and mystical sensibility,” Times Online quoted him as saying.

“We relive with emotion the hours of that Saturday evening when the news of his death was announced to the great crowd which filled St Peter’s Square … Let us give thanks to the Lord for having given to the Church this faithful and brave servant,” added Pope Benedict who put John Paul on the path to sainthood shortly after his election, by waiving the five year waiting period before a beatification cause can be opened.

The diocesan phase of the beatification cause, the step before sainthood, opened in Rome in June 2005, and concluded in April last year.

The next step for the Congregation for the Causes of Saints is to conclude that John Paul had “heroic virtues”, and for Pope Benedict to proclaim his predecessor “venerable”.

Strange Sighting Over Canterbury, New Zealand

Wilkinson, 17, photographed the object, at left, from his Halswell home at 7.27pm.

He said it was too slow to be a meteor or a plane, and wondered if it might be satellite debris in the western sky.

A handful of other observant Cantabrians also spotted the orange ribbon standing out brightly in the dusk.

"I got the camera and took a photo. It was moving extremely slowly, so I thought it might have been a plane for a minute. The front looked like a fireball.

"I didn't hear any noise. It looks like it might have been extremely high up, given the speed it was moving," he said.

Police southern communications shift supervisor Trevor Cross said he received one phone call about the phenomenon. A policeman at Oxford also saw it and thought it might be a vapour trail.

The superintendent of the University of Canterbury's Mount John Observatory at Tekapo, Alan Gilmore , said his "immediate reaction" was it was a plane.

"The slowness would be due to the plane's movement. I assume from the contrail's angle that it is a plane heading for Australia," Gilmore said. "The trail doesn't look at all like a meteor or space-debris trail."

Giant Preserved Squid on Display in Paris

The squid, 6.5m (21.5ft) long, has undergone plastination, which means its liquids have been replaced by a polymer.

The process, which took two-and-a-half years and cost 65,000 euros ($100,000; £50,000), is designed to make the preserved squid look as natural as possible.

The creature is a gift from New Zealand, where it was fished out of the deep seas in 2000.

Sea monster

The squid hangs from the ceiling of France’s National Museum of Natural History, where its long pink tentacles stretch down towards a terrified-looking shark.

The giant creature has been named Wheke, after the sea monster of Maori mythology that led the Polynesians across the ocean to discover Aotearoa, or New Zealand.

It was 9m long when it was caught, but it shrank to 6.5m after it died.

The biologist who helped organise the donation said there should be a giant squid in the country of Jules Verne - the Frenchman who wrote the celebrated novel 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. That was an epic tale of struggles between sailors and tentacled monsters, featuring a giant squid that tried to engulf a submarine.

Fluids replaced

The plastination process involves replacing the water, fat and other liquids in the body with a polymer that hardens. A pink pigment was added to make it look as close as possible to the living creature. It was first used by the German anatomist Gunther von Hagens, who has controversially preserved and exhibited human cadavers. The usual way of preserving life forms - by pickling them in a jar - would, the museum said, have been demeaning, and out of the question

Haunting at Homestead, Pa. Police Department Investigated

The Homestead Police Department hired paranormal investigators to look into hauntings at its station. The hauntings have been a rumor for years. Now, Homestead police officers want proof that they're for real.

Slamming doors and creaky floors are one thing, but police officers say some of the other incidents cannot be explained.

First, there’s the phantom typist. Several people have seen the keys on a typewriter moving on their own. Others can't explain the attic door, which continues to spring open no matter how many times it’s bolted. The chilling air that blows through enclosed hallways and around old cellblocks is also pretty spooky, the officers said.

Denise Kelly, who worked at the building for years, showed Channel 11’s Renee Kaminski a room she and other staffers almost never entered alone. That's where local paranormal investigators set up shop when they visited.

The mysterious incidents haven't just happened inside the borough building. The mayor showed Renee Kaminski a broken down snow plow that somehow started up last November without a key and battery.

The department called on the Greater Pittsburgh Paranormal Society, and they said they found something in the boiler room. Paranormal investigators said the staff will have to wait until their investigation is complete to find out what they believe is that something.

Cryptid Investigator Thinks 'Lizard Man' May Be 'Bigfoot'

It's a story that got a lot of people talking in the Midlands. Back in February, a Lee County family woke up to find their van torn and bloodied. Some people thought the legendary Lizard Man had struck again, and many of you sent us stories telling about your own run-ins with him.

Now, an investigator says those who believe the legend have it all wrong. Instead, he says a very different type of creature is to blame.

"Think about it. It's incredible," says Tom Biscardi. He wants answers, so he drove all the way from California to Bishopville. Biscardi is traveling with his team of researchers - trying to figure out what could've chewed up the front of the van, biting right through metal.

Biscardi heard all the rumors. The only freak of nature that could do it was supposedly the Lizard Man.

A giant creature of legend was first reportedly seen near Scape Ore swamp nearly 20 years ago. Biscardi doesn't think so. "There's no Lizard Man. I'm telling you, you've got something else."

Biscardi, says his investigation - will debunk all the rumors. He can't prove it yet, but Biscardi traces the damage to a creature like the one in Texas. "I'm going to tell you, it's not a Lizard Man. What you've got is a primate, a thing called a swamp ape."

The creature Biscardi speaks of is more commonly known as "Bigfoot."

The team found 18-inch prints in Texas. Biscardi's team of Bigfoot hunters says it's found similar prints near Scape Ore Swamp. The team set surveillance around the swamp, and near the damaged van.

Forensic evidence was also gathered. But after two days of searching, no creature was spotted. Biscardi says, "No problem."

He'll be back next month with a bigger crew. "If anything does travel out on this area, we'll get it. I have no doubt in my mind."

Whether the Lizard Man story ends there remains to be seen. What's clear for now, the mystery's plot - has only thickened.

British Man Believes Late Wife Contacts Him....By Cell Phone

It looks like every house on the street, a normal semi with a bird-bath perched in the front garden.

But the unassuming facade of this home hides a ghostly secret which, almost four decades ago, drove a family to run in terror from "The Thornton Thing".

Today, its resident says he lives with a ghost – no longer the sinister apparition which reduced residents to sheer terror, but the spirit of his late wife.

And in an amazing story, Frank Jones admits he believes wife Sadie is contacting him from beyond the grave... by mobile phone.

Frank, 59, says the spirit of Sadie and son Steven, who both died five years ago, are visiting him at home in Windsor Avenue, Thornton.

Mr Jones had his home exorcised 12 years ago following disturbing visits from a supernatural being, known as 'The Thing' which had forced another family to flee the house 37 years ago.

The Ross family told The Gazette in 1971 how the 'Thing' pulled at their bed covers while they were asleep. They also told how they sensed a vile smell and felt something breathing in their ears.

When Mr Jones moved into the house 20 years ago he was sceptical about the legend of the 'Thing'. But he soon changed his mind.

He said: "I just thought they were imagining it. But there was a lot of banging and an earthy smell in the house. Then one night I was lying in bed and a mist came across the room.

"I wanted to shout out at it, but I couldn't get my words out. My face seemed to be paralysed. It all got too much for me when that happened."

Mr Jones's daughter, Maureen, 30, also recalls experiences with the 'Thing', including taps coming on full force and the house being "ransacked".

She said: "You think people are exaggerating until you experience it. I was home alone one evening and suddenly heard these footsteps coming up the stairs.

"They went into my dad's bedroom and then I heard all the cupboards banging open. It sounded like burglars."

Mr Jones contacted Fleetwood Spiritualist Church for an exorcism to be carried out.

He added: "A lady came to cleanse the house. She said a man was trapped between two worlds."

But the strange goings on returned five years ago after Mr Jones suffered a double tragedy when his son Steven, 32, died from a brain tumour and wife Sadie, 69, died from a heart attack three months later.

Mr Jones, who runs his own scrap metal business, said: "Just after Sadie died I came home and I felt like I didn't want to go in the house.

"I got a missed call on my mobile, but it didn't ring. The call was from my own home number, but there was nobody in the house. Then when I went inside there was a smell like cigarettes which Sadie used to smoke and the smell of her perfume."

Mr Jones said the family has also received strange text messages, which they believe to be from her.

He added: "She always had a mobile with her. We buried her with her phone. There have been messages with words Sadie would say but there's no number.

St. Francis County Museum, Arkansas: Continued Investigations Scheduled After EVPs Discovered

The Arkansas Paranormal and Anomalous Studies Team (ARPAST), has released its findings from their recent paranormal investigation of the St. Francis County Museum, and what they found has interested the team enough to schedule a return trip to the facility.

The team visited the museum in January to gather evidence of the alleged ghostly goings on there. Larry Flaxman, ARPAST president and senior researcher, says that after reviewing hours of videotape and audio recordings, they found two abnormalities in the form of “Electronic Voice Phenomena” or EVPs.

“The traditional thoughts on EVPs is that they are the voices of the deceased,” said Flaxman. “They are collected on tape recordings. We ask questions and wait for a response. Many times the responses cannot be heard at the time, but are recorded on the tape.

“There are three classifications of EVPs: A, B and C. An ‘A’ is the highest classification. With a Class A, the voice is clear and when more than one person hears it, they can clearly make it out. They can identify the same words that someone else does. The Class B EVPs are a little less clear, and the Class C EVPs are thrown out. Class C EVPs generally have too much static,” said Flaxman.

“We did collect two EVPs that night that we would classify as Class A EVPs,” stated Flaxman. “One was a voice of a woman, and one was the voice of a child.”

While Flaxman did state that no other evidence was recorded, the team plans to return to the museum in November.

“With the evidence that we collected, we are hopeful that we can find more,” Flaxman said. “But we cannot make a conclusive decision on whether there is paranormal activity there based on the evidence. The museum requires more research. We have been working with a local group there in Forrest City called PRUPH (Paranormal Researchers of Unexplained Phenomenon). They have been doing investigations there too. They’ve asked us to come back, and we are planning on coming back in November. Wayne Parker, the museum curator, also has invited us back to do a charity event there to allow people to come along with us during an investigation."

Middleboro Town Hall Paranormal Investigation Could Take Months

Quincy ghost investigator Tom Ventosi, vice president of Mass Paranormal, wants to conduct a ghost investigation of Town Hall that would take months to complete.

Ventosi would use multiple infrared cameras positioned in several locations to film for four to eight hours, as well as infrared video, sound recorders and night vision viewers.

He said it takes up to a month to review the recorded material, which could include 1,000 still pictures.

In addition to electronics, Ventosi’s team includes a spiritual adviser who deals with “dark energy,” as well as a shaman and priest who would perform a blessing, if necessary.

But not everyone is convinced a ghost haunts Town Hall.

Richard Pavadore, chairman of the town Finance Committee, is an electrical engineer who specializes in microwave and wave theory.

His laboratory has high-tech equipment with tongue-twisting names like oscilloscopes, infrared thermocouples and spectrum analyzers.

He said interpreting the sound recording made at Town Hall, in which some claim a spirit was crying for help, is in the ear of the beholder. The recording was made by two local men active with the Paranormal Institute of New England.

“In this case, we are using only our ears and emotional state to decipher what this may be,” he said. “This is subjective to the listener.”

When budget time rolls around, Pavadore spends many late nights in Town Hall crunching numbers and says he has never heard a ghost.

But Building Commissioner Robert J. Whalen says he has seen the apparition.

Seven years ago, he was filming a production for the Burt Woods School of Performing Arts and, as he manned the camera, “a white puffy cloud came out of the floor. It floated across the top of the balcony,” Whalen said.

He called someone to look at it and the apparition disappeared. But the shape showed up on the video when it was replayed, he said.
